Honestly, it's just like the same old op mc fantasy anime. I'm not saying it's boring, but thanks to the skit or the running gag from eps 1-12 that makes it more enjoyable and funny (more like a small "haha" laugh). One particular episode that pique my interest, the whole concept of that particular episode is so meta and very different than other anime.

Art : 7/10
The design is simple, not boring to look at. Even though it kinda ruined because of the "small fry" CGI, other than that, the design is simple and fun to look at.

Since I like fantasy-ish story (magic and stuff), it's below my expectation especially after watching the big isekai (Mushoku Tensei, Tensura, etc.)

Character : 6/10
Since it's not fully comedy anime, I was expecting some character development like what they did in season 1. A bit disappointed. Why ? Without the side character and the heroine, MC is really boring. The character interaction is so boring and simple but for some reason they make the side characters interaction is more enjoyable than the MC with other side character(s).

Enjoyment : 7/10

2. Good side character(s) interaction with each other or with the MC.
3. The comedy aspect gave you a good small "haha"

Cons :
1. The MC is really boring, definitely the quality drop from season 1
2. Sound from this anime also disappointing even though it's magic-ish anime
3. The story is kinda bland, typical op mc.

Conclusion/Overall :
I hope they improve the quality of this anime in season 3. Especially the sound and the MC itself.

The conflicts are derivative, the audio mixing is inconsistent, and the animation is occasionally sloppy. Many parts of this show seem amateurish on the surface, and I wouldn’t fault anyone for dropping it as a result. But the dialogue is snappy, the characters are lovable, and the grounding in Chinese mythology is cozy. There is a spirited enthusiasm that this messy show has for itself, as if the creators want you to have as much fun as they did making the whole thing. It’s infectious. I am enjoying this show despite its shortcomings, and I look forward to every episode.

Xian Wang is neither innovative nor ... refined; I do not think it will become your new favorite anime. But I recommend it nonetheless! I think most people will enjoy it.

Originally I wouldn't have rated this as high until about ep 9? or 10 things got a little bit different here I wont say much more since it would spoil things but the bringing of real world elements and the eps also flowed visually and audibly in the process described made for a great build up to the ending eps which I enjoyed probably more than I should have. from the work force meltdowns to the complete bash at a certain equipment maker. Brilliant.

Like stated by others this continues to be a cultivator fanfic version of the disastrous life of saiki k. as readers ... of such novels I'm bias and enjoyed this and it's many similarities and complete opposites.

which is my reasoning for scoring

Story (6) it's a fanfic it's scoring higher than five for the originality of some parts.

Art (8) this is one of the best animated cultivator type anime and even if this is expected quality of today among the others of this type it something that stands out.

sound (8) good va's on the sub version that are enjoyable to listen to and distinct from one another. The opening track is one of my favorites (Jiàng Lín (Arrival) )

Character (6) again this is fanfic saki k. so our line up is similar +1 for some changes that are polar opposites but still get the essence of their counter parts

Enjoyment (10) the reason I rated this so high is literally this I enjoyed it be it by bias or just enjoying all the clever references.

In the end if you watched saki k. or just like your standard op protag ect.. this is an enjoyable anime

I don't understand why many are saying it's not that good because it didn't had much plot in season 2, well it's a slice of life so they will focus on day to day life of our main crew.
I loved this show for mainly this reason, at it's core this is not about epic fights or saving the world but about Wang Ling trying to live with his emotions suppressed because the world will literally end of he doesn't control them.
Everybody is forgotten that it's a story about "daily life" and are asking for more plot. I keep seeing people say fillery and boring, ... but as far as I can remember having a generic boring fillery episodes is what makes slice of life or did I get it wrong? Isn't watching a show chilled with less seriousnes is what makes a show good slice of life.
Story:
Just as I said earlier they are connecting small plot points from one event other but not taking it overboard just enough for the audience to say 'ah it makes sense'. It's just a fun ride nothing serious.
The story of season 2 is mainly revolving around demons from the demon world who are trying to take over the human world but there plans keep failing because they are trying to kill Sun Rong main Fml which of course Wang ling won't let happen again.
Art /Animation:
this the highlight of the series I see everyone saying the art is just ok or animation is just ok but I tell you it's not just ok it's amazing. The use of 3d and 2d done in this is way better than most anime that try emulate doing it but no everyone is just ignoring it and saying things like it's just ok, it's wierd or outright bad. That's not true at all of course it's not incredible like Ufotable, Mappa , Kyotoani but no way is it inferior.
Voice acting: This is where season 1 fall short but this it was improved dramatically but still no where near Japanese anime.
Music and Sound design:
Sound design for spells and Wang Ling's sword swing are really amazing and boss music for Wang Ling is one of the best things this show has.
Opening and Ending are bangers just as season 1.

As a person that keeps up-to-date on tech, I have to give mad respect for the real obscure joke that made me burst out laughing. If you know you know.

I have to say that I believe that the show builds upon what worked best in the first season and throughout what didn't, which is the absolutely great comedy and unique world and ridding itself of cliches regarding the MC and main love interest.

The main strong points of the show are the complex conundrums that come about from being so powerful he literally can't use it, and the world of cultivation that the story is based ... in. I'm happy to say that the scenarios that play out become more interesting while the world itself is built upon and foreshadowed surprisingly well with small aspects like news in the background adding up to being relevant to a later event.

The animation budget getting a bump and the audio actually being upped in gain was very much appreciated.

I have to say though that at times it felt rushed and didn't build up certain characters as well, even though it does affect the overall pacing, I didn't mind much.

It's a solid 8 and an above in my books, great fun to watch unless you're really not into overarching stories with a more episodic story style.
