Wan Sheng Jie

Warning, vague spoilers ahead!

I'm giving this a 10 because All Saints Street (or Wan Sheng Jie) does what it sets out to do perfectly. What I mean by that is that this show's format is intended to be concise and simple, with each episode running for only a few minutes. The plot of each episode consists of random antics between cast, and are usually wrapped up relatively neatly at the end of each episode. I say relatively because the beginning of the series is a flash forward, while the final episode ends on a cliffhanger. Other than that, you can watch any of the episodes ... from this show in a vacuum, which is what I believe it was intended to be made as, for the most part.

Speaking of the story, the antics I mentioned earlier are very cute and heartwarming, and the personalities of each character bounce off of the others very well. The series succeeds in this aspect, and each character is super lovable and enjoyable to watch.

This is the most underrated show of 2020. A hidden gem that desperately needs to be shared and discussed more. It is so funny without being forced. Every character is amazingly well designed visually and integrally. The music is great and creates such a fun ambiance. I genuinely enjoyed this so much, even though the episodes are four minutes long, I felt like I had just watched a full-fledged episode at the end; it was that satisfying. I would recommend this show to anyone, young or old, male or female shounen or shoujo fan anyone.

This is the best short anime I've ever seen ... bar non and it can actually compete in my top 25 anime of all time even with how short it is, I literally cannot recommend this high enough. Go watch if you haven't yet.

Long story short: GREAT series! Had a lot of fun watching it, and you probably will, too! There is absolutely nothing you could lose in watching a short comedy series about monsters living in an apartment together.


Story was really fun! There have been changes from the original comics, but overall I think these changes were for the best! There is a now a small hint towards an actual plot and a complication that the characters are kind of heading towards, and a climax has been hinted at for maybe next season! Though the series is great at being episodic and focusing mostly on the really ... clever and humorous interactions between the characters, it does not progress the plot much outside of a couple of scenes mostly at the beginning and very end of the series. The ending of this season being a cliffhanger left me a little disappointed, despite being completely in love with everything else-- if a more concrete ending had happened the story would've been rated 10. Needless to say, I am more than stoked for the next season!

The art is lovely and cute! Super consistent and never wavers in quality which is a great thing to see! Couldn't look away!
(The style has been changed from the original comics, but I think it added a lot to the story and honestly made it very fun to watch!)

Sound is nothing to write home about, but also nothing to complain about. Opening is an ABSOLUTE BANGER!

Characters are simply adorable! The story is very much driven by their interactions, and because they are so unique and have interesting dynamics, it made for a really good story! I think there is something for everyone to relate to or at least recognize in there!
(for those who are fans of the comic, some characters' back stories have been changed (namely the werewolf), and Neil is slightly cuter and he is kind of pushed to be more "pure" than he was in the comics. Some characters were also completely omitted, though they might make appearances in future seasons based on official art that has been released. I didn't mind most of these changes since they were minor and made the show more fun for me to watch, but it is something to note.)

I thoroughly enjoyed this series! I personally really enjoy shorts, and as someone who started reading the comics recently, I also think the short episodic approach that was taken resembles and stays true to the overall feel of the comic, making it a super enjoyable watch for anyone who does or does not read the comics! The story is funny, the characters are super unique and interesting, character interactions are truly wholesome and drive the plot so well, and the animation is something you just can't take your eyes away from!

Overall, this series probably sits at a 9, but in my heart it sits at a whole 10!

I really enjoy the premise of this anime and it's art style really sets it apart from the rest. the Characters are quirking and play off of each other really well. My only issue is that the episodes are really, really short so you only get small snippets of story which isn't that satisfying if you watch it weekly. If they had even made the episodes 10min long that would have gone a long way to solving the problem. However, if you are able to watch all the episodes at once, I don't even think it would take you an hour, it is a chill ... and funny experience.

Even though it's very early to be celebrating Halloween yet, sure why not check out this cute little Chinese 12 episode anime about a little lamb chop living with his monster friends?

Seriously some series like this one, didn't need to have 4 effing minutes to air...it's absolutely not gonna cover the rest of a over 400 chapter manhua....can they not at least do 15 or even 20 minutes on the episodes????

Anyways the time length is my only complaint about this anime. Now let's get into the goods folks. Honestly all characters including Nini are just so adorable. I think I would have to go ... for Vladmir and Nini as best bois of this series. Vladimir is pretty much a chill out lazy smart dude that any of us wanna hang out with. Nini on the other hand, is such a sweetheart. He has a heart of gold that makes you just wanna hug him (he's just totally cute like c'mon!).

Also the opening is cute too and pretty catchy. I can't tell you how much it sticks to me head every week I've watched this anime.

Honestly this is a pretty feel good anime that everyone definitely needs right now during quarantine!

Okay, I'm usually very sharply critical about anime. I rarely give shows a score above 6, especially if they're short, but this one's an exception. I love this show!

For people who have been paying attention to east-asian anime outside of Japan for around the past 2 years, it should come as no surprise that China of all places has really been knocking it out of the ballpark lately in terms of production quality and polish. Wan Sheng Jie, despite having very short episodes (Only 4 minutes each!), manages to perfectly capture what it sets out to accomplish. Since anything I say might be spoilers ... due to the length, I'll keep this review short, as well.

Story & Character (8/10)
This first season has a huge focus on character building, but sets out on giving each character a unique background and lifestyle, as well as how their personalities interact with each other. It's pretty funny slice of life, and I quite enjoy the werewolf man. The demon boy protagonist is a close second.

Art (10/10)
It's actually really good and cute. The simplicity perfectly matches the animation and tonal direction of the show. It can be simple and cute when it wants to, or more complex and detailed when it needs to be. The framerate is a bit higher than that of normal Japanese anime, and it's very relaxing to watch. No matter what frame you pause on, nothing ever feels rushed. I know the style can be a bit jarring at first, especially if you're only used to regular anime, but it really grows on you. I have no complaints.

Sound (8/10)
I don't remember too much about the sound design, but everything felt pretty matching to me. The show is too short to give much of a comment on the sound effects and music, but everything seemed pretty lively to me. The intro is cute and makes me excited for each episode, and the ending theme will change with the tone of each episode. It's a nice touch.

Enjoyment (10/10)
Yeah, I really don't have any complaints. Rarely ever do I give this score, but I got exactly what I wanted out of this show. Season 1 left such a good impression on me that I wanted to start Season 2 right away, especially with the way this one ended. I wish it was longer, but somehow 4 minutes for each episode seems perfect. You can watch the whole first season in under an hour.

It's a short first season that excels at what it is trying to accomplish, and was a very enjoyable watch where I had no real complaints. Without spoiling anything, I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a fun, yet quick little show with cute characters. It is very underrated, and has a pretty good chance to make you want to watch more after this. Good stuff. I recommend.

Dude... this is hilarious. I mean it really is. Even though it's full of super short stories, the characters are all very unique and fun to watch. Especially just them being themselves.

Now this isn't by any means some deep show that makes you cry and it doesn't have complicated plot points. It's just short and humorous. But it really is funny!

Honestly, I didn't realize at first why it was 1031 out of every number... Even though I knew the "Wan Sheng Jie" is a play on "Wan Sheng Jie" --> 万圣街 vs 万圣节 (one is the name of the anime, the second is "Halloween") --> ... and 1031 naturally stands for October 31, but anyway. Yes. Nice and punny.

There's even a whole world destroying event in the future! But no worries, our gang of roommates and their landlord will successfully save the world! Right?

This has to be one of my new favorites...


Story: N/A
I mean it's a bunch of shorts and doesn't really have a specific story. Just crazy quirky antics from roommates, and that impending threat doom thing in the future.
There's a sense of chronology, but it's not 100% necessary to watch it in order, I guess.

Art: 10/10
It's very unique. I haven't seen an anime using an art style like this in... Well, I don't think in any of my current ~200 MAL entries. Also the animation is very smooth and good. I like it. Unique and good.

Sound: 10/10
The opening song is nice, the ending jingle is cool, and the voice acting really brought out the best in all the characters.

Characters: 10/10
They're all super quirky and cool. And hilarious. Really. They're also really stereotypically in character for their species. Like the angel landlord really enforces rules and stuff like that. The vampire gets sleepy in the day and sleeps in a coffin ahah. The main-er character seems like a bit of an airhead too but it's super funny. Also that one werewolf who goes crazy anytime he sees a moon regardless of whether it's real or not. Poor guy.
Also that one mummy that no one remembers/notices.
Also Lily is that super social talkative one ahaha.

Enjoyment: 10/10
I absolutely loved this and I think it's the type of anime I'd watch randomly for the funs. Like Saiki K. in a way. But it's hilarious. It really is worth a watch.

Overall: 10/10
The only thing I regret is that it's only 12 4-minute episodes. Including the songs. The opening song is 30 seconds and the ending is about 10.

They wonder whether them being vampires/werewolves/demons should be celebrating Christmas. But no worries, they got bribed with one month free rent.

I want to cry of laughter. Even though I guess other things could potentially be funnier.

An absolutely underrated gem. While not technically anime, it's sure to capture the attention of any anime fan looking for a casual series to put on, and I'm frankly surprised it hasn't garnered more of a following.

It invokes the storytelling and pacing of Hetalia, while maintaining a far classier presentation both in taste in humor and visual style. The characters are fun and loveable (a wholesome demon? a buff dog boy? vampire gamer???), and are presented through stellar visuals. The animation is outstanding- it exceeds what you would expect from a typical animated series (let alone a web series), and uses its budget wisely between ... action shots and simpler shots for comedic effect.

If you have an hour to spare, I highly recommend giving season 1 a watch- that is, if you don't hop directly into season 2 right after!

I recently finished this donghua after leaving it on hold for over a year. And after finishing it I found that I put watching this show off for far too long!

All Saints Street is a very cozy found family donghua. The demon king, Neil (Nini) decides to move from hell to the human world since he’s interested in the culture. After coming to the apartment that his friend, Ira, told him he could live in, he discovers that the two other people living there are also supernatural beings. Lynn, the angel, and Abu, the mummy. Later on Vladimir, the werewolf, and Lily, another angel, also ... move into the apartment. The series follows the daily shenanigans the tenants of apartment 1031 face as they live their lives.

Story:

The story is pretty much non-existent, which goes for most slice of life comedies. The series is usually episodic, the episodes are each only 4 minutes so it’d be difficult to cram much plot into it (the Japanese version takes 6 4 minute episodes and combines them into one 24 minute episode, think the Netflix version of Saiki K.) The stories however, are always very silly and simple, but still charming. Most comedy anime struggle to actually be that funny to me, but the humor in this series always landed. The ending was such a sudden cliffhanger, it definitely made me want to immediately jump into season 2!

Art:

The art in this series is a major part of what initially made me want to watch it. The style pretty much sums up the whole series, simple and cute. It opts for this nice brown lineart rather than the harsh thin black lineart most anime goes with, it definitely helps the art look very soft. The color palette is also beautiful, it's very warm and cozy. The animation is also quite fluid at certain points, the opening is a great example of this. It’s wild that this type of animation is found in a web series, Hetallia could never.

Sound:

I’d like to preface this part of the review with this: I watched the Japanese dub! I don’t have any comments about the original Chinese version’s voice acting, this also means that the opening was slightly different for me (since they dubbed it for the Japanese version). Now that being said, Daiki Yamashita did an amazing job as Neil. His voice is absolutely perfect for the soft wholesome type of character. The other voice actors also did a good job, they were a joy to listen to. The opening is also very catchy, I love it!

Character:

This series has such a loveable cast of characters. Neil is the wholesome demon king, Ira is the vampire otaku, Abu is the silent mummy dude, Lynn is the stern angel, Lily is the angel who’s full of energy, and Vladimir is the overly-alert werewolf. They’re all so different and it makes their interactions with each other very enjoyable to watch. With a series like this they really have to rely entirely on having an entertaining cast of characters, since there isn’t much of a plot or goal, and this series definitely succeeds! My only complaint with the characters is that Abu got not nearly enough screen time, I’m hoping the next seasons flesh him out more.

Overall, this series is great if you just want a cozy comedy to turn your brain off to. I really enjoyed watching the characters just live their lives. I would highly recommend it to any slice of life or comedy fans! If you’re more into plot-driven serious series then you might not love this show, but I’d still give the first few episodes a watch just to see if you like it.
