The Flying Luna Clipper

Pixelated bizarre convoluted mess of what could loosely be called plot, these two titles will show you anime that barely looks and feels like anime. 

Two OVAs mostly spoken in English who are the peak of 80's aesthetics. Really, they're possibly the ultimate vaporwave anime you could ever see. 

“Nyancos” seems like something that would be shown as an in-flight movie on the Flying Luna Clipper. It has the same bizarre and creative feeling to it. 

Both are heavily dream-like, and have as main topic the blurring between what is real world and what is a dream. Both also have unique and well-elaborated animation... And both also reach the uncanny valley pretty often. 

Insanely mind-warping movies with psychedelic visuals and moments that will have the viewer questioning, "WTF did I just watch?" Furthermore, both include the integration of real-world visuals within their runtime, which is rather odd and unique for an anime. Mind Game has a more cohesive plot, a message behind the madness, while Flying Luna Clipper is even more sporadic and random in nature. 

If you like the VAPORWAVE AESTHETICS and think it has comedic potential, both these short projects are worth looking at since they're comedies featuring Greek statues, dolphins / old pixel art, palm trees and Japanese subtitles. Though, the humor in Olympia Kyklos is much more slapstick while Flying Luna Clipper is rather... off-beat. But I think they cater to the same type of people. 

Liked the dreamy references to native South-American culture in the Mysterious Cities of Gold ? Flying Luna Clipper is nothing but that ! Also features another yellow flying bird-plane thing !
