Both series feature child soldiers engaging in warfare to survive and thrive in a war plagued time.

- both shows have protagonist’s that are mostly child-to-teen like that shares a common deep, secret pasts and are trying to liberate an area from foreign rule. - both season have more lot of intense, factional plots and counter plots more than their prequel's. - both have a faction that vying for control of different groups trying to exert their will on the grand picture of things. - both anime ended with a similar stereotype ending and epilogue.

Two great shows set in a future where rogues are in a fight against the government type powers, great pacing and just an enjoyable watch.

Gundam IBO and Wolf's Rain both have a heavy plot and one that seems like it could be tragic at first glance (one is a war story and the other is a post-apocalyptic anime so that's to be expected), but they still remain largely hopeful for most of their run time. But not in the sequels. Both series are like a train here- continuously accelerating towards the final point, but then the train gets derailed somewhere in the middle and fall off the tracks due to a character decision or plot point. It continues speeding up and up towards the final colliding point without letting up  read more

-Both has corrupt state. Teens fight to freedom. -Deep story and musical is really good. -Guilty crown has supernatural and mecha instead of only mecha.

A group of young people naively accept work from a shady businessman, and get punished for it. The main character starts losing his metaphorical soul to a machine the harder he pushes himself. They also push themselves so hard out of respect for a charismatic leader figure they look up to.

Both shows deal with an MC who is stoic and unmerciful towards their enemies while at the same time see that an inescapable fate is awaiting them. Also don't expect both to be happy since it builds up to such a dark, depressing, deconstructed, and tragic development.

IBO and Arc V may have something in common regarding mythology gags and improvements over their predecessors but Vrains has more in common with IBO S2 as being the most depressing series up to date. Terrorism, child soldiers, revolution, and tragedy is the theme in both shows not to mention featuring protagonists who have endured harsh life since childhood showing no emotion fights a war for their selfish reasons and wanting to have a place to return to. Antagonists switch from time to time while one is a Char Clone who is a villain at first but allies later in order to reform the corrupt society. Later the  read more

When watching Mikazuki in his Gundam, I get a lot of Guts vibe from him making me think that IBO is inspired from Berserk. Both of the shows encompasses political and realistic themes but the only difference is that IBO has mechas and Berserk has warriors and supernatural powers. Another note is that Mcgillis shares the same VA as Griffith and both are Char Clones.

Both continue where their respective previous season left off in a serious and more involved plot this time: -The story focuses on a group of young people fighting for freedom against a superpower faction vying for absolute control. -Mysteries surrounding the mecha are revealed -The series end in a similar fashion that wraps up the story -There is no happiness but tragedy The only difference is that Valvrave is the reconstruction of the tropes deconstructed in Code Geass and Gundam IBO continues the trend of 00's deconstruction of the Gundam tropes.
