These are by no means the best but they're a good way to get started for a new anime watcher.

For the sake of this list I'm not including more than 1 of the same series (such as adding both Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z or all of the JoJo parts (exception Stone Ocean because it never aired on Toonami))

All of them are ordered from the date their manga was released

A basic recommendation of anime classics starting from the important year 1963 when Astro Boy debuted. Only one anime per franchise allowed, and selection is partly based on watchability, so you can get right into what seems interesting.

This is the final part, part 5, and it covers 2011–2022.

Part 1 (1963–1974): https://myanimelist.net/stacks/57261
Part 2 (1975–1986): https://myanimelist.net/stacks/57265
Part 3 (1987–1998): https://myanimelist.net/stacks/57268
Part 4 (1999–2010): https://myanimelist.net/stacks/57273

By this period anime is already a mainstay in western public consciousness. Remakes of classic anime are as popular as ever, and some shows are pushing fan-service limits. Netflix emerges as an odd piece of the industry. Anime fans were eating good in 2014 (Tokyo Ghoul, Haikyuu!!, No Game No Life, The Seven Deadly Sins, Parasyte, Your Lie In April, Ping Pong the animation, Akame ga Kill, When Marnie was there, Nisekoi, Space Dandy, Noragami, Terror in Resonance, Yokai Watch)

List of anime franchises with so many seasons &/ episodes that maybe off-putting for a newcomer

Rules:
1. Atleast 100 episodes or equivalent
2. Every episode atleast 23 minutes long (so
a movie with 1h 12 minutes duration roughly
counted as 3 episodes)
3. Main, remake, spin-off, specials, all counted
4. Excluding some well known long episodes
anime:
- Sazae-san
- One Piece
- Naruto
- Dragon Ball
- Bleach
- Doraemon
- Pokemon
- Digimon
- YugiOh
- Meitantei Conan
- Hunter x Hunter
- Black Clover
5. Only listing the oldest ones (I can find) of
the franchise. So, there is no repetitive
titles

P.S. - Yes, I am biased for my own tritype. And sorry, I do not plan on making interest stacks for the rest of all the other main 26 tritype groups since it requires A LOT of time, effort, and research (pun not intended 😛). Maybe someday I'll make one in the future for your tritype though, if you are very special and dear to me! 🥰

A selection of relatively easygoing anime series to introduce most adults to the medium.

I personally love anime, so when my little sister became interested, I wanted to find shows that are interesting yet respectable (like kid-appropriate). I didn't add any Studio Ghibli movies cuz that's kinda obvious (gotta watch them all.) I hope this helps any other older anime fan with lil siblings! (P.S. These are my opinions and recommendations; look at them before watching them with your siblings if you're not sure!)

Creative, detailed, beautiful and/or stylish character designs. Could be natural (hair, eyes) and/or clothing.

Just because an anime doesn’t use school uniforms does NOT mean it is automatically included in here.

No second seasons included.
