Kare Baka: Wagahai no Kare wa Baka de R

If I were to describe this show, I’d only use one word: ridiculous.
And it’s not “ridiculous” in a bad way. Sometimes it may sound pointless, some of you may feel put down by the opening song but, trust me, you have to give a chance to this.

The story (8) is really nothing exceptional, it all revolves around a theme that is packed into a six minutes show. There is never any continuity between the episodes but that doesn’t really matter ‘cause the main goal here it to make you laugh, or at least, if you’re not really into the genre, smile.
There’s a short recap at ... the beginning of each episode so even if you happen to miss the first episodes, you’ll surely know what’s going on and decide for yourself if it’s worth giving a shot to the other episodes too.
Sound (9) is really enjoyable. The opening is weird, you’ll get some piano music with Namikawa-san awkwardly singing for a whole minute.
Ridiculous but still amusing. The ending song is rather quite, it’s the off-vocal version of the opening but what makes it amusing is the fact that do appear the humming as lyrics subs (well, the opening itself consists in Namikawa humming).
The casting is okay, there are some new voices such as Juri Kimura, not probably as popular or well-known as our Namikawa-san, starring as Ponta (the main character, he voiced Isana Yashiro from K-Project and Italy in Hetalia).
Then, again, the characters (9) shown are really few, but they manage to entertain the audience. We have the smart girlfriend, Akomi-san, that plays the role of the ‘straight man’, although she’s a girl, pointing out her boyfriend’s idiocy. And, there again, we get to know Ponta’s friends, all as idiot as him.
They're usually shown as busy in some gathering they do, meetings where they try to discuss smart and pressuring issues such as the global warming without reaching any plausible conclusion and mostly with poor results.
And hell if they are great.
In an anime industry full of clichés, I think that even this level of idiocy is a new way in bringing a humor that doesn’t need panties or ecchi jokes to amuse.
About the art (7) I’d say it’s rather fine. The animation, the colors and everything else are okay. It’s a six-minute show, don’t expect sparkling colors or something worth of Free or Utapri, but the animation and the backgrounds make everything enjoyable.
They made a good use of their budget.

Enjoyment (10) is surely ten! It’s a light comedy, it doesn’t take too much of your time. If you’re searching for a new anime but don’t have too much time to spend on it, watch Kare Baka. It’ll make you laugh a little and realize that, every time you’ve told yourself that you’re an idiot, you still didn’t know what idiocy was about.

So, overall, it’s short and light. If you’re into the comedy genre, even if paradoxical at times and non-sense, you should give this a shot!

Ah, if there were only a way to sum up this anime without over-glorifying it or making it sound lame... This is a fine line that this anime walks between being impossibly stupid and brilliantly profound.

It is very short. This is good because if it were longer, I hardly think I would be able to continue watching it. The writers did an amazing job at proving over and over again that the boyfriend is stupid, yet from the depths of this stupidity come glimmers of unintentional brilliance.

Honestly, I understand why many people watch this anime and find it unappealing; the title alone is ... enough to cast some serious doubt on the value of this particular show. But I justify the hour or so that I spent watching this anime in that there is something refreshing about being able to sympathize with the characters and consider things from an incredibly non-threatening point of view.

I don't think I would watch it again, but I am have no regrets for having watched it once already.

How could an anime be so random, so funny, so bazaar, and so unbelievable?

-Story-
There really isn't a story. It's more of a slice of life kind of story or a "whatever happens" story. Even so, still very enjoyable and funny!

-Art-
The art successfully shows the matching expressions to the situation. That's the most important thing in anime comedies. Overall the art is good. The characters are drawn decently enough not to look disfigured. The background and characters aren't very detailed in color (but tis' all good if the characters are hot >_>)

-Sound-
The fact they purposely made the intro like that, deserves a slow applaud and a ... sarcastic "job well done".

-Characters-
The characters are so... indescribable... Each one of them are exotically weird in different areas yet all them are hard to hate because of their innocence. Not one of them are normal except the female lead.

-Enjoyment-
There's so much to laugh at throughout the series, it's hard not to laugh. The things you'll think that are weird become laughable in the anime.

-Overall-
If you want an anime to give you quick great laughs, weird looks, and lots of face palms, go right ahead and watch this anime.

A simple-minded comedy with outrageous punchlines. That opening gets me every time. "Lalalalala, laaaa, nnnyaaaaah~"

This girl has a boyfriend with a pretty face and literally the brain of an 8 year old. Apparently it's to make her classmates jealous and to look good to everyone-- you're not gonna NOT have one right? It's unTHINKABLE, the horror~!

I saw this show point out different ways people can behave stupidly, and do idiotic things.
Whether you're intellectually challenged, culturally insensitive, air-headed, judgmental, or just weak to peer pressure and care too much about the opinions of other people. Different roles played, flavors of idiocy presented.

Literally this anime made my jaws break a lot. It was honestly pure daft by things coming out from the characters mouths, especially when the boyfriend and his friends discuss absolute pointless nonsense while they are always having meetings.

I can't think the best scenes from the top of my head but the comedy I thought was just pure silly and cute. I really wish they didn't make this anime 5 minutes each on damn 8 episodes. Ideally I think they should make each episodes at 23 minutes and have it finish at 12 rather than 8. I get why it has a low score but ... at the same time, it has the potential to be better in extending each episodes length and add more episodes. I personally feel it could get away with a second season if it was given the chance. But I doubt that's gonna happen anytime soon, I'm still hoping for it though whenever it does lol.

I gotta say as well, the art wasn't bad, the opening song was interesting and every character was quite likeable especially the girlfriend. I mean I thought this anime would be a sorta in your face type of shoujo but it's really sweet and dumb to check out this anime.

If you ever need a laugh watch idiot boyfriend I dare ya! :D

Just to say, this anime is literally for enjoyment purposes and to get some laughs out. It is also quite short too which is totally fine for a gag. I remember enjoying this when I was in my younger teenage years and honestly, I thought it was hilarious because of how "baka" or aho the male characters were. However, they are really sweet characters and I actually do not see anything why I should hate them at all.

If you want an actual storyline, this anime is not for you. It is literally a slice of life surrounding either the main female and male lead or ... his buddies. And when they have those "meetings", I can't help but crack a smile.

All in all, I do believe this anime does deserve some credit.
BTW, have you heard the opening?? It's actually beautiful!! (Not really being sarcastic here, but honestly it will not disappoint. Like I listened to it again when re-watching and I couldn't help but-)
