Both series are space mecha anime. Both have very talented pilots who are the primary resource utilized by commanding forces. Both have very similar music themes played throughout the series.

Darling in the Franxx, an extremely popular mecha series release recently has taken the community by storm with the surprising compatible duo Hiro and Zero Two. Knights of Sidonia S2, the sequel to the original Knights of Sidonia story line; a fairly popular mecha series released in 2014 that has been absorbed by the community maintaining the power duo Tsugumi and Tanikaze. Both series are extremely similar due to their premise and character palette, I assume everyone is familiar with the premise of Darling in the Franxx so I will describe the similarities it shares with Knights of Sidonia with as few spoilers as possible.  read more

Similarities - Humanity fighting against evolving monsters/Virus - both are CGI but Tunshi is more detailed and has better animation rigging - both are OPMC or Zero to hero OPMC - both fight to protect their lover Differences - Tunshi is set on 'Earth-like' planet VS. Sidonia is set on a Ship in space - Tunshi revolves around one character VS. Sidonia revolves around a character and his team/lover - Tunshi is more about a single person's strength VS. Sidonia is about fighting using Mecha strength - Tunshi is Chinese Donghua VS. Sidionia is Japanese Anime

Both shows are sequels to anime animated by Polygon Pictures. Both shows have immortal characters in them and social commentary. Angela performed the opening for both shows.

Both shows are sequels to shows about giant man eating creatures who have almost devoured all of humanity. More hybrids of people who are part enemy and part human are introduced.

Revolving around a future dystopia society where humanity battles giant, ominous space monsters using mecha, these titles are pretty joined at the hip. Each treating the space monsters as a mysterious entity. The core premise is the same, but what really sells that comparison is that they both become a slice-of-life towards the middle portion of their runtime (Sidonia more harem than anything), despite the inherent intrigue that could have been achieved by exploring the alien threat instead. And similarly, towards the 3rd act, they reconnected back to the core conflict that was established in the beginning (in this case, a fight against monsters).

In season 2 of Knights of Sidonia, alien parasites that try to take over human brains are introduced, they reminded me a lot of the parasites from Parasyte. The main threat in each series are shape shifting aliens who eat humans.

Similarities: -Both anime occurs in a distant future dystopian societies. Both societes look pretty weird for 20-21th century humans. -Both anime presents a high level of sci-fi element and "the details", and in both humanity are endangered by extinction. -Both have specific, non-standard artwork. Differences: -Sidonia no Kishi occurs in deepspace, while Shinsekai Yori occurs on Earth in distant future. -Sidonia no Kishi have male lead who is clearly "The Main Protagonist"(Tanikaze), while Shinsekai Yori MC's have no clear lead, both Saki and Satoru have equal level personalities. -Sidonia no Kishi features more battle scenes, while Shinsekai Yori have much less of it.
