-Both are short videogame adaptations that take many liberties from their source material while still being relatively faithful. -Both take place in a blend of sci-fi and high fantasy, and have vague post-apocaliptic implications. -Both have a similar Akira Toriyama inspired sense of humor (Slapstick, light echii, goofy subversions, gags in the middle of fights)

One is a series, and the other might be a movie. Still, two well known characters that are loved by kids all around deserve to be recommended just to kill time.

Both are short and fun little OVAs based on video game series that take a few liberties with them while still remaining very faithful to their source materials as well (although Mega Man is much more educational than Sonic, still enjoyable for older viewers)

If you liked Super Mario Brothers: Peach-hime Kyuushutsu Daisakusen, then you might also enjoy the Sonic the Hedgehog OVA. It is similar because of its humor and craziness. Also because it is about a video game character.

Both titles are based on popular video game characters from the 80's and 90's, and are a great choice for all anime fans who play video games!
