Both have same playful and adventurous atmosphere and feature imaginitive aircraft/mecha designs. Some of the character's movements and slapstick humor of Xabungle seem to pay homage to Miyazaki's Conan or even Castle of Cagliostro.

A ragtag group of scavengers aboard a land-crawling ship explore a frontier landscape, often fighting with other factions using mecha. Both shows feature action, comedy, romance, and political drama in different doses.

Both anime are super crazy/insane and over the top. And you could say that Gurren Lagann is a spiritual successor to Xabungle, as it's clear that TTGL is influenced heavily from it.

Directed by Tomino, except this is more of a Western with mecha than it is James Bond with mecha. Xabungle is extremely goofy and perfect for making you laugh, just like Daitarn is.

Both are mecha series about quests for REVENGE!

Both are mecha shows by Tomino that offer a silly, happy-go-lucky take on a genre often crowded by more somber titles.
