Dystopian stories show messed-up societies with strict control and inequality (like "1984" Post-apocalyptic tales reveal life after disasters, focusing on survival and rebuilding in broken worlds. They both teach us about societal problems (dystopia) or life after everything falls apart (post-apocalyptic), making us think about people and society's actions.

This list is intended for those that have fallen off newer anime or are looking for more modern recommendations. I think each of these will be regarded as a classic in the future by avid anime watchers.
