I absolutely recommend reading this series. I've currently read five volumes, and it still remains very interesting. It initially caught my interest after watching the anime, and the novels feel much the same. If you liked the anime, then you'll probably also like the novel. The novels are structured as a collection of short stories that follow a detective format, centered around medicinal themes. While the short stories might seem disconnected at first, they each subtly contribute to and advance the main plot. This makes for nice stopping points, but it can sometimes be a bit frustrating not to know the outcomes of an investigation ...

The story is centered around a guy who has been reincarnated as a sword, and is now carried around by the adventurer Fran.

The story by itself has been fun to read. It features many of the aspects common to other Isekai novels, like a game-like leveling system with skills and everything. The story also visits interesting places and they, the sword and Fran, aren't just aimlessly wandering around and actually have a goal in mind. Which is always nice.

Below I'm explaining the reasons for my rating in a bit more detail. So some very mild spoilers ahead.

Gaikotsu Kishi-sama, Tadaima Isekai e Odekakechuu has been fun to read so far. It feels just like the average isekai novel featuring an overpowered mc but that's fine for me.
The story has the protagonist fight a couple of unjust foes, help the impoverished and rediscover Japanese cuisine. Just the average isekai stuff. Nothing wrong with that.
The only thing that bothers me about the story is the lack of narrative. Namely, the story seems to be all over the place. Interesting characters and places are introduced at the start of every story arc. But after resolving their problem, in what feels like a single paragraph, ...
