Super promising, compelling, and tragic. I want to see how Einar comes to terms with his life or finds some kind of purpose. Peak. Opening and Ending are complete vibe too^^.

La profesionalidad de la producción brilla más que las estrellas. Esta segunda temporada promete. Nos dieron una primera temporada única en su esencia. Esta que arremete, no se quedará atrás.

Mangaka Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga is back, 3 years later! And now courtesy of MAPPA, keeping Wit Studio's AOT style alive with this continuation worth of massive hype.

Anonymouz's OP is deep though, and LMYK's ED is pretty much the same.

We end the prologue of Vinland Saga with Season 1, and this new life that's still wrought of life and death from the perspective of Einar, growing up in his village until it was invaded by the Danish, resulting in the murder of the rest of his family and said man ultimately being sold into slavery, being chiseled as a slave for purchase and running away to live on his own survival, he couldn't run away no matter how hard he tried.

The hope for Einar to be freed after seeing this old that's looking for Thorfinn, he was bought by Ketil instead to be brought back to his Jutland farm in Denmark, it reminds him of his family back in Northern England, and this would be the VERY FIRST time that he meets Thorfinn.

What a gruesome prologue for the main guy that that would shape up Thorfinn's life later on, this is just the very start, refreshed once again. The story of Thorfinn's redemption and Einar's salvation, BEGINS NOW.

THE HYPE IS BACK, and let the FARMLAND SAGA BEGIN!

Fun Fact: The team who animate the first season (Wit Studios) was transferred to Mappa, that's why the art style is the same.

The CG is very noticeable, just like AOT. I know its not fair to compare this season to one funded by Amazon and done by Wit at the height of their powers....but I can't help it. The farm in England was rough. The rest of the episode's animation was greatly improved, but you can tell it's not going to be on the same level.

That out of the way, the story continues to be fire. After all the horrible things Thorrfinn did in season 1, a life of slavery doesn't even begin to be enough punishment for this guy. I'm looking forward to what happens next, as everyone and their sister says this arc is where Vinland goes from great to masterpiece.

I wonder who our Thors or Askeladd level character is gonna be? Or maybe I should leave those guys alone and just enjoy any new people we meet.

It was weird. They lost about 1.5 minutes on pointless "carve it" sequence. "It" appears to be "warmth", although it doesn't really make any sense.

A guy hits a tree with an axe, with single hit the axe penetrates about 1/2 of the trunk. Next time we see the axe it barely scratched the tree which somehow become much thicker in these few seconds. Literally, the axe just about penetrated the bark.

The guy's mother throws a knife into his head, he is very lucky to still have both eyes after.

Then we see the tree from the distance, in 20 seconds it become about 10 times thicker. Freaking magical tree.

Mother is surprised the guy doesn't like that she threw a knife into his head. Granted, she is a medieval peasant, but really, people never were quite that stupid.

Sister wonders if Einar is going to be a woodcutter. Why else would he hit a tree with an axe? It's not like they use wood every single day for cooking and everything else. And clearly becoming a woodcutter is an option, they don't need Einar to work in the field.

We see the tree one more time, guess what - it is a completely different tree again!

This is just the start. Masterpiece? Really? I think you guys just like this manga too much.

Their escape is beyond stupid. They know what vikings do, they are running, mother gets an arrow and they just kinda hang around her. These people want to be raped, enslaved or killed.

And almost entire episode is anime original, all this stuff is completely irrelevant to the story. 24 episodes of "prologue" (11 years of Thorfinn serving murderer of his father without achieving anything), clearly wasn't enough. The story moves too fast, more fillers please.

MAPPA did a great job keeping the Wit Studio spirit. The scene of the golden field left me in awe. It was as if the grains were alive.

I knew season 2 would be far different from season 1 as if they're two different anime. And man... this season smells like a masterpiece already. Einar is an interesting character and him meeting Thorfinn seemed to be a fateful encounter. I'm excited to see how these two would interact and grow.

Speaking of Thorfinn, it was nice to see my boi again, although he's not a boi anymore. :')

Vinland Saga Season 2 will have 24 episodes and will run for 6 months. This will certainly make my 2023 great. ^^

OP is good nothing crazy imo but EP is so beautiful I almost cried

For someone who has already experience Vikings, I'm surprised Einar and his sister did not have a stronger sense of self preservation to run without their mom. Talk about fight, flight or fright.

Quick question, is the farm that Einar ended up at the end of the episode, the same farm he used to live in? Or it's a different one?

I really didn't expect Lotta to die as well. Really nice introduction to Einar. A soft guy with a lot of muscles, and a big heart. The guilt he felt after stealing some bread was adorable, considering his situation. And then there is Thorfinn... A slave... why the freak is he a slave???? Can't wait to find out what happened during the time jump

Opening is alright I guess, but not a banger like the first 2 ops. Ending is cute. Also I liked mappas adaptation of the Wit Studio Motorcycle intro.

Animationwise... it's not Wit Studio, sadly. Wit really put a lot of effort in landscape and water detailing, and those beautiful pictures always pulled me into the moment. It's also not Mappa's priority, cause I know they can do better than this episode. I want to like the 3D cornfield reveal, but Einars 2D image trembling back and forth was weird. Otherwise it was not bad, but not good either. Worse than season one.

It's a really good first episode, it shows the backstory of one of the main characters in this season in a spectacular way, showing us his thoughts, his life and the feelings that he had as a slave, concluding with the apparition of the mc and making the first step to move forward with the story
