Fighting tsundere heroine with quite same character. Comedy, mostly girls on main roles and quite pacifistic but overprotective protagonist

A story about friendship of four school girls. Both offers comedy and Aki Toyosaki does voice actor in both anime.

This goes to any Toaru Majutsu No Index/Toaru Kagaku No Railgun anime. However, I am only going to focus on Railgun this time. Similar : - Ability users - Main characters use abilities for good purposes - A group of four people (Main Characters) - Both groups supposedly have the strongest or one of the strongest ability users Different: 1. Main protagonist is boy (Charlotte) 1. Main protagonist is girl (Railgun) 2. Group of 2 boys and 2 girls (Charlotte) 2. Group of all girls (Railgun) 3. Ability is apparently a disease (Charlotte) 3. Ability is a strength/gift. (Railgun) 4. Ability can be found all around the world (Charlotte) 4. Ability is mainly found in Academy City (Railgun)

Similar atmosphere/feel, both are sci-fi/magic-orientated, mostly female cast with one guy in the middle of it, have separate 2-4 episode arcs that are not that related to each other. Only difference is that Railgun revolves around one girl more and Stb revolves around one guy and his magical harem (plus there's more ecchi in the latter)

The MCs of both shows are able to use powers. They both go to an academy, but that's more relevant in MHA. The power system is far more developed in Railgun as they make more focus on the scientific side and how they can use them. They both fight against "villians". Both have good animation, fights, ost, etc.
report Recommended by Elzombi47
Both are under the same author, but different main characters and different view points. Both tells of a view point of one of the characters that interacts with each other once in a while and tells what each of the characters know about the hidden secrets that both have no idea of.
report Recommended by Choo99
Both shows deal with the concept of kids with psychological powers, having certain levels, whether they are too powerful or not to be part of society, or if a seperate place is needed for them. They also feature for the main characters, girls.
report Recommended by Yemi_Hikari
Both have young people and super powers, although the source differs. They are similar in examining the relationship between those with powers and those without, but their mood differs. Railgun is pretty much hopeful throughout. Shinsekai Yori grows progressively more grim for most of the series.

Being special is never easy and in both of these series, the protagonists are definitely something at that. Both series have a similar setting involving an elite school to train special people to control their powers along with a ranking system. The protagonist of both anime(s) meets others, whether friend or foe and learn more about them, their powers, but most importantly, about themselves. These two anime(s) are both lighthearted but does contain drama, action, and comedy. Being special is never easy.

Both have a main character who are extremely overpowered and can beat anything no matter how strong. Their friends are also powerful and have special powers but can still be beaten.
report Recommended by Khalan
Both anime are about a world in which some people have fantastic superpowers while the rest of the world are normal people. The people with powers have a higher status in society due to their ability. And there are mad scientist villains trying to do evil things with stuff related to such abilities.

Cute girls doing cute things with an interesting backstory.

Illya is the main character of her very own anime. Similarly to Misaka from Railgun. Both series started from their parent story. Illya from Fate/Stay Night and Misaka from Toaru Majutsu no Index.

the main character style is similar Same Japanese voice by cute Kanae itou with Saten-san The cool and spyce stile is out, but Saten is a very genki girl and compensate

Though Locke is more of a space opera and Railgun is super-powered slice-of-life, they both have the idea that ESPer powers can be developed. In the Locke universe, the students train at Lady Kahn's school to become ESPers. There are no levels or variations like there is with Railgun. Also in Locke they students are trained to be used as a took for evil. It's rarely their choice to use their powers for the good. Railgun, each other students are trained because of the pursuit of science. Some do use their powers for evil, other's good.

Both takes place in a city full of mystery and exciting incidents happening. Character are connected to each other. Full of fighting and action that had something to do with strange powers and super natural phenomenon. Both had multiple seasons.
report Recommended by RitsuKunNew
They share the similiarity of high school students which also work as superheroes. Electronic music and city living ensue.

Both stories are about a group of girl friends at a school for people with special abilities. They are also softer adaptions of their more serious parent stories. My whole time watching this series I couldn't help but think back to A Certain Scientific Railgun so if you enjoyed Soul Eater NOT! you'll definitely enjoy the latter.

these animes don't have much in common, but they are my two favorite animes, both have a very interesting story, and the similarity between them are the fights, two animes with a lot of action and good animation. The two dispute my top 1, so I think they won't regret it if you want to see good fights

Railgun, like Psycho Pass, has a strong female lead and each episode is jam-packed with action. Though, Psycho Pass has more dark themes and dark nature in comparison to Railgun.
report Recommended by gayanime
Both are a side story to a major series with a girl lead character that is actually better than the main story themselwes.
report Recommended by SummerADDE
Tho the plots are very different they have the same kind of humor and give off very similar energy. Both have awkward female protagonists with really strong personalities. If you liked one of them you'll probably like the other :)

Similarities: High school setting Characters from both shows with superpowers attend special schools for special people Ability users They use their abilities for good purposes to save their community and country Both groups have one strong ability user

-Both female main characters have good hearts and a strong, and are some of the awesomest female characters you can find in anime -Both have epic fights -Lots of lead characters and support with good development .Both is a very good anime Different Fate/Zero is darker and have many adult male character . Toaru Railgun have mostly girls.

This is Story about the girl who enjoy their occupation, Railgun is more about Scientific and Love Live! is about Music but they make a funny moment sometimes. Especially while Maki/Mikoto who is Tsundere girls meets Nico/Kuroko who is clingy girl

Super power galore. Railgun and Bungou Stray Dogs are both shows about an association of justice doers brought up together for having similar capibilities beating up (un)organised criminals. The two have a similarly goofy, but endearing cast and have a comparable storytelling method of random encounters.

To me both of these gave a similar vie which is something I often look for when looking at similar anime, it's all about the vibe the series has. Also both are set in a supernatural school setting and it's no secret that such powers exist, the power system is different with A Certain Scientific Railgun focusing on psychic "esper" powers and Irregular At Magic High Shcool focusing more on magic, overall both series still have a similar feeling to them. Hope you found this helpful! :)

Both have a female main character and i think the atmosphere of these animes are quite similar
report Recommended by Riskshocker
Both same with last episode related to the last call between girl and boy to his friends asking for help when the enemy as second time in the battle and also towards the finish line during the skateboard race. Then, both same scream out loud together just one people for supported

Long-running series with similar high-energy soundtracks and parity shifts between action and SOL drama.

Since I saw Mai-HiME had already been added as a recommendation I thought I should add this one too, considering it's the closest thing to a sequel Mai-HiME has. In fact I would say that that Mai-Otome bears a closer resemblance to Toaru Kagaku no Railgun then Mai-HiME. Either way both are a good idea to watch if you enjoyed Toaru Kagaku no Railgun.
report Recommended by geekysoundcat
Both series involve magic and psychic abilities in a modern setting. The Level Upper arc is remarkably similar to the Pandemonium arc.
report Recommended by Edoeren
Both are very funny. The animes follow 4 girls and how their personalties are all unique.
report Recommended by gnoodles
Both shows talk about the unfairness in society/life and helps one an another to solve a problem.

School friends with special powers. difference is Toaru Kagaku no Railgun people use their powers everywhere - 11eyes they can only use their powers in alternative world.
report Recommended by MiniGhostly
Both have really cool characters(Cute and strong girls). They may be one day at an epic battle and the other enjoying her daily life and friendship.
report Recommended by DC_Fulano
Both detective-like stories in technologically advanced cities with a lot of crime. And of course - loads of action and sci-fi fights.
report Recommended by Toster
Both anime have this kind of carefree and fun slice of life feeling; except Ano Natsu focuses most on a romance, while Railgun is more about comedy, then action.
report Recommended by nalatskm
Firstly both anime are about school and teenagers and both are mostly concentrated on female characters with super powers. Both series have good sense of humor as well as mini yuri involvement. The animation is nice and it has some cool action scenes, so yeh I do recommend it. Ah, and they both have dramatic moment involvement as well.
report Recommended by kitten320
The core characters in both are girls who are friends, and they spend a lot of time just hanging out. In both there are supernatural events.
report Recommended by colonelpanic
Taking place in the same city but involving a new character. Hidan no Aria original characters are still present but are not the main focus. Including the main male protagonist. Same with Railgun which focuses on the other characters but not the main male protagonist. One involves science and magic (Sometimes) While other does not have any of that. Both are very action packed. There parent story was based off from a light novel. Then later on had a manga that was a spin/side story of the original light novel series.
report Recommended by AnimeFan500
While Railgun provides more action & story, and A-Channel is a slice of life, they both contain 'cute girls doing cute things' content.
report Recommended by ashton
Both are in a city that was arranged scientifically and magically. Both main characters have strong magic powers. Both of their main themes are friendship. I highly recommend both anime.
report Recommended by BobMarleyJr
They both have action driven plots which revolve around the dynamics of an all girl friend group.
report Recommended by Vash117
Okay I just have to step in here to tell you that IF you are a big fan of the character Shirai Kuroko from Railgun like I am, then you MUST watch Baka to Test as there is an extremely similar character (Miharu Shimizu) that both have a yuri crush on a boyish flat-chested girl and call her "ONEE-SAMA!" Onee-sama love forever!
report Recommended by Yandere-Addict
Another academy city and people with superpowers
report Recommended by BS
In essence, both series incorporates characters who has esper powers. They use their powers for various purposes, some for good while others for evil. Both series' main protagonist are powerful espers who has perfected their powers for their own use. Both series features a super power like theme but at the same time has some lighthearted backgrounds. The series follows a group of espers and what they do in their every day lives. Both series has a lot of drama, action, and some comedy.
report Recommended by Stark700
The concept of espers is a prominent idea in both series. Toaru Kagaku no Railgun (A Certain Scientific Railgun) and Tokyo ESP involves characters who are able to perform supernatural abilities. Gifted with an ability of her own, the main female protagonist vows to user her powers to help the public. Their personalities are similar as well with an innate ability to easily make friends with others. The setting of both series have similarities. However, it's noticeable that Railgun has developed various technology that can change the future.
report Recommended by Stark700
They both contain types of magic. They both have great fights. The characters are similar.
