Dark and edgy philosophical and psuedo-spiritual undertones resonate powerfully beneath the derma of an expertly animated and artistically executed series that explores human pyschology and how individuals cope with the pressure of living.

both shows got me in the end. While watching both I thought I knew what was going on and thought I had it all figured out. Then BOOM!!! Near the end of both shows I was just like wtf?! what happened??? it got me thinking and made me appreciate the great stories of both shows.

Satoshi Kon's style is wonderful, but to understand it at its fullest I think it's required to watch Paranoia Agent before, since it's the most simple of the "Mindfuck Trilogy" (Paranoia Agent - Paprika - Perfect Blue), and then get to the hardest ones.

Well, Perfect Blue and Paranoia Agent are created by the same man, Satoshi-kon. Also this have a very very psychological content and essence. Anyway, two great works from a great man, Satoshi Kon.

Both are directed by the incredible Satoshi Kon and tackle the mental breakdown of their characters, more so than Kon's other works.

Both made by the best anime director ever Satoshi Kon, they both are centralized about the human psychology. Mousou dairinin is more about the broader psychology of a society then perfect blue is about one´s psychology of a young actor rising to the stars. You never really know what is real or not but one thing is for sure whatever one´s mind sees is important, and we humans are only creatures of the iceberg. and with both series it is the viewer who is going to interpret the meaning :)

Both are directed by Satoshi Kon and are psychological drama horrors. They both have a real story blurred by the point of a view of a character, Mima in Perfect Blue and pretty much everyone in Paranoia Agent.

Both are psychological thriller anime made by Satoshi Kon. They are from around the same time and have similar visuals. They both start out being fairly normal but then branch out into being more abstract. They both have a lot of moments that are up for interpretation.

Well, for starters, Paranoia Agent was done by the near-legendary (deceased) director Satoshi Kon, who was pretty much infamous in the industry for repeatedly making very artsy, psychologically complex titles that deal (harshly) with the "modern human condition". Working that angle, I would recommend you to try his highly-renowned movies, such as Perfect Blue. This movie deal with different topics than Paranoia Agent, but they are very well made, and you can see Kon's trademark twisted psychological style shimmering through in many places.
