My little spot to keep track of it all.
Fantasy, adventure, sci-fi, historical and slice of life animes.
Something dark, dystopian. You know, like the real world.
Maybe a hint of melancholy with deep character development and a slower pace. Like Spice n Wolf. And its never hard to enjoy classic Ghibli stuff.
Been recently getting into Manga, Manhu/wa, web toons. Wish MAL would allow more to be categorized here. Sometimes the internet being so vast and alluring leaves me floundering to keep tabs on all the cool shit out there.
Not listed on MAL, but currently following
Tower of God (Ch 248)
The Gamer (Ch 136)
God Among Men (Ch 38)
God of Bath (finished - movie coming)
unTOUCHable (CH 82)
You Ye Qi Tan (Ch 1)
Flow (Ch 42)
Always love suggestions if you have one!

Oh, I should have mentioned one other thing. Despite that (or, maybe, because of it, it's complicated) I like to keep an open mind. It's conceited to think we have "all the answers", and, as the quote from Akari Mizunashi on my profile implies, life is boring otherwise :D
->Its the itty-bitty Pagan inside me
I'm not religious, though as a history buff Animism and Spiritualism catch my attention (and I think I "get" a lot of the Shinto/Buddhist references in anime because of this).
->Are you in Canada? Your location in Japanese, according to Wikipedia is an anime.
I've been to Canada a couple of times for work related things :)
I currently live in central Ohio USA (though I've lived in several different places in three different states). "あっちこっち " is indeed the name of an anime (which both my son and I enjoyed), but it actually is a real Japanese expression, with a couple of alternative translations to English, such as "there and here", "place to place", "back and forth", or "in various places".
I haven't practiced much the last 9 months, but I can (slowly) read/write hiragana/katakana, I recognize about 20 kanji, and I understand enough Japanese to follow much of the "raw" in some of the anime with simpler dialog. I keep meaning to get back into it, and learn some more kanji, but...
Regarding Gin no Saji, I think what it was is that somehow the main character, Yuugo, bothered me, and I have trouble getting into a story if I can't like the main character, unless something else about the story hooks me. In this case, there didn't seem to be enough other things to it, and some of the humor was falling flat for me. Add to that I think I was watching a pile of other shows at the same time, so it simply got pushed aside.
->Soredemo Sekai wa Utsukushii Manga
Hmm. I'll add that to my list. I used to be a voracious reader, but I've slowed down considerably in the last 10 years. So, though I am currently following several manga series, I don't usually think in terms of "I should read this series". Getting old, I suppose :D
While I was snooping, I noticed you had several on your "to watch" list I strongly suspect you will enjoy, such as:
Barakamon
Haibane Renmei
Mushishi
Usagi Drop
->Is there a story behind yours?
Not specifically, but it does express my sense of humor, though probably only those who have know me for a long time would really get it I suppose. I found that picture on a greeting card a few years ago, and it sort of "fit" me and my family. I grew up in a very rural area...for instance when I was 12 I got a part time job cleaning cow and horse stalls for one neighbor, and collecting chicken eggs for another. My father owned 9 acres (we grew a lot of our own vegetables), and most of our neighbors owned as much or more. We did have indoor plumbing, but the house my father grew up in, which was near by, didn't have running water until he was a teen...so, given how I grew up yet eventually became a software engineer, and the jobs I've worked professionally, the contrast is "amusing".
The color picture in the "about" section reminds me of the woods nearby where we played. And yes, there was an old, abandoned, graveyard nearby and near that was an old path that looked very similar to the one in the picture, though I'll decline to comment as to whether or not I saw any spirits dancing through it.
I have noted that it seems like 98% of the avatars here are anime/manga related, and I suppose given this is an anime/manga site that should be expected, but I've always thought a profile picture should reflect something about the user...(you should see my forum avatar).
I followed most of the Dr. Who episodes with Tom Baker (that scarf...), but for some reason never branched out into the other incarnations (I had started college by the time he left the show, and didn't seem to have much time for things like watching TV).
Berlin? Must be the middle of the night there right now. I'm just now thinking about what to make myself for dinner.
Btw what do you think of these recent changes on the page? Was it just an April Fool's prank, was it hacking or is it intentional?
(Sofern Du keinen Krapfen gemeint hast^^
Nebenbei - Was hälst Du eigentlich von den Änderungen an der Webseite? War das nun ein Aprilscherz, hat sich einer reingehackt oder ist es wirklich Absicht?)
