I can deal with the raw anime if it's the only way I can get it. Alot of the ones I like were never dubbed or subbed so I have no choice. They are easy enough to follow without knowing what they are saying, but some of the story is lost (of course). I put them all on dvd (my entire completed list). There are some really good older titles too like Midori (1992). It is not your typical anime. Quite bizarre in fact. It is easy enough to find via torrents. If you want gore that doesn't necessarily have samurais, try Violence Jack or Fist of the North Star. Have you seen Vampire Hunter D?

Ninja Scroll, Shigurui, Basilisk are top 3 in that category. Great action, gore and overall animation. These have excellent stories as well which is why they are my top 3 (off top of my head) . There are others that lack depth or gore but have great stories like Dagger of Kamui (subs only) and are a bit older. Do you mind subtitles or raw anime?
