Wow this actually has a high rating for some reason.
I rewatched Gosick recently and boy was it bad.
Firstly the characters. Do people actually like little girls kicking boys that they like? He would ask her a simple question and she would kick him or hit him. And kujo would actually forgive her and BRING HER SWEETS. If it were the other way around, with him hitting her, everyone would be pissed. Kujo is the reason why this relationship even exists. hand, is pure garbage. I can't believe anyone actually likes her. A few nice words does not cover up the fact that she's abusive both emotionally and physically. Not only does she hits him, she also calls him stupid and useless all the time.
They're romance is non existent. If you think that's romance, it's not. They're no chemistry, mutual understanding, or memories that makes the viewers go : aww this couple is meant to be together. They magically need each other and want each other, but there were no steps leading to that development. It was done poorly. The shoved their romance in the last few episodes. It was super cringy and sappy.
Next for the mystery component. Yeah, I guess it could be called mystery since there were cases, but like others mentioned it was done poorly as well. A lot of it was Victorique assuming things to be true without any real evidence, and those assumptions were magically correct. Throughout, she was the only one who solved things, while others were just her dogs, doing whatever she asked of them. So it was redundant and predictable.
Next, the whole gray wolf concept. What really is a gray wolf? They brushed over their powers. They're supposed to be very important beings, but we don't even know most of their powers. Do they actually become gray wolves? Do they have magic? Victorique's power is intellegence, but what about the rest of them? What was her mother's powers? What was so special about her and Brian and the rest of them? If they're so powerful, how come no one else is seeking for them? If they're so powerful, how did her mother managed to get captured and how were they unable to help victorique escape?
Next the part of the mother's story. Yes, it was sad, but it could've been very well avoided. Did her mother really let her daughter be in the tower all these years? Why did she wait all these years to kill the marquis? How did she know everything would work out all right? What was the whole point stalking her daughter when she could've spend time with her whenever victorique was out with kujo? And if Victorique couldve left the library all along why didnt she? She left the library all the time with kujo. Was she waiting for someone to hangout with her?
Brian, his brothers, and cordilias deaths were the stupidest things ever. Useless deaths. With their "powers" they could've killed Albert any time they wanted to lol. There was nothing stopping them. But they waited years to get revenge after leaving her daughter behind? What selfish mother would leave the daughter behind knowing that her daughter is being held captive? I certainly would make sure I got her out as soon as possible.
I think the best thing about this show was the story of the queen and leviathan.
The side characters were all just there without purpose. They had no importance to the storyline. The annoying teacher who didn't have a life. She didn't even teach lol. The annoying blonde girl who always followed kujo. Victorique's brother was fine, I guess. He was struggling between listening to his father and being a good brother. I think he deserved a better story and could've even had romance with the girl he liked. But if course not. They just focused on kujo and Victorique and screwed every one else.

Wow, I am surprised to see what a high rating this show has.
Like yes... it started off well to the point that I was willing to ignore the fact that a 4 year old lives alone. Like yes... it's anime and we don't need to take it seriously.
HOWEVER, there's a difference between writing a fantasy anime and then an anime that is supposed to portray reality lol. If your setting is taken place in the real world, then it looks highly stupid that a 4 year old is living alone without any interference from any adult. They even called the child services on
...
the other kids in the show... so why not on Kotarou?
Anyway, like I said, I was willing to ignore that but then the show got stupider. There is no change. Kotarou spends the entire 10 episodes waiting for his mom and nothing gets done. I expected him to get adopted by Karino, yet nothing happened. Kotarou didn't get closure, he didn't get therapy, and he is treated as an adult by other adults, which makes no sense.
This show had potential as it portrayed heavy themes that can make for great story, but they wasted time on bringing in new characters all the time without talking about the past. What happened with Kotarou's mom? Why was he abandoned? HE was abused, but what led to that? What happened to the father and why did he decide to track his son now? And did he just stop his search after getting the fake address??
If this show doesn't have another season, then it was a big time flop. And Kotarou's character development was bad. He was a smart and skeptical of the world due to good reasons, but then he started trusting everyone and became a joke and an annoying tsundere.
Again, this is my opinion and you don't need to agree.

Alright people, my biggest question as I watched the show was: why?
Just why? Why did anyone let this be produced?
What was the point of this show?
You can do so much with the concept of "Japan sinking." SO much! I can come up with a whole list that has better content than this show. If they were going to go the unrealistic route, then why not add aliens that had a grudge with Japan and decided to blow it up? God.
Like everyone said in other reviews, the characters were the worse. Like uber stupid, unrelatable, dumb. Everyone is attacking the mom for being the worst--

yes I agree-- but the daughter is even dumber. She was useless, bratty, complaining, and PLAIN STUPID. If the creator really wanted her to lose a leg and still run in the end, they shouldn't have given so many chances for her to disinfect and bandage her stupid wound. Just imagine, having your leg amputated because you were just that stupid to not use the clean bandages around you to cover up the wound. I don't get it, did she want to lose a leg? Was that her goal all along? Who knows, obviously she didn't seem too distressed about anything. Literally, why did all these people sacrifice themselves to save such a dumb dumb?
NO ONE seemed to care about anything. I freaking get a cut on my finger and I immediately go into panic mode. I mean, I know they are in survival mode, but come on! The father (who is played by Keith <3 what a waste of his voice) literally, LITERALLY gets blown for the stupidest reason, yeah to get his bratty daughter a freaking yam because she can't eat anything else. Like ? If the country is being destroyed, getting your daughter a yam should be the least of your concern. She deserved a big smack in the head and they should've said, "Quit your b*tching and eat whatever we have or starve." Clearly, they had to kill the dad since he had natural survival instincts and they had to find a way to make the family suffer. But come on, being blown by a bomb just to feed the daughter???? HA, what a joke. Let's not even mention I hate her voice and the way she talked.
No one cries for the dad. They act like he didn't die but went on vacation instead. Just like "I miss dad. I want to talk to him." That's all. All of the characters were unrelatable. After the useless, annoying, dumb daughter, the next most annoying character is the mom.
Ah, the mom. The positive person in the group... let's just say too positive. Her husband died? No big deal. We move on. Her friend died? No big deal, let's take a pic. Let's take a pic. "I won't cry but I will take a pic." Literally what? There was no shock in her face. No despair. Like, I know characters that are positive but still show pain in their face. Just look at, IDK, Dazai. He clearly shows signs of depression but he also puts on a happy face to lighten the mood. But the mom? No sign of anything but carelessness. Wow, she cried once for her dead husband, for like two minutes. Such a loving wife.
It's not just the daughter or the mom. It's the entire family and characters. I just knew there was something wrong with them the minute the mom reunited with the family in the first episode. Chilling, laughing, no sense of alarm in their voice or faces. They just chilled on the blanket as there were explosions and stuff. No biggie. NOthing wrong here.
Then (God, I can write on forever), the YouTuber............. just why? (Sorry, Aleks LE, your voice had to be wasted here) Why, why was there a random YouTuber, who's not even from Japan, who decided to stay in a country that was going to sink? For the thrill? Yep that was the reason, but like ? Does anyone even do that? Knowing that everyone is evacuating and they might die? I guess, there might be a stupid person to do that. I don't get the purpose of having him being a foreigner lol. He could've just been a Japanese and just stayed for the love and excitement for his country. There was like zero reason for him to travel with the family though. Like did he like the girl or something? But just like everything, they never elaborated with that.
Honestly, I like zoned out during the episodes of the cult. Like huhhhh? Why was there a random cult and what was the purpose of it? Why did they have magic? And if they had magic and stuff, couldn't they have helped out somehow? Idk, I don't get it.
Finally, let's go back to how unrealistic this show is. You see, when you are in survival mode, you use the resources around you. The first random death was the girl Nanami's. Death by instant poison gas. No one else around her died. The daughter was literally right behind her, but noooo, she didn't die only Nanami did. Again, no one cared. They just continued talking to the YouTuber. Ha. Then the mom's death. They didn't even try to cut the rope lol. She had HEART ISSUES but no one offered to do anything and let her just dive in. And no, even though her device was losing battery, the girl said she could charge it with the boat... ...... No one carried a knife or anything sharp? There were stuff floating by everywhere to be used. But no, the mom had to dive allll the way in the deep, cold, dark water (which was so deep, idk how she even made it without oxygen but ok). Mom died, no reaction, nothing just one minute crying and then they're like bye bye and move on.
The dude Koga literally had impaled shoulder, and they said not to move around, but he was moving stuff, carrying things, runnning lalala, and no one said anything. And then he died. And no one cared. At least the daughter cries a little for everyone, I guess.
Then the final episode comes (finally.) The creators tried making it look like a bitter-sweet, touching, sentimental ending, but I just was so confused. They didn't even explain how the Professor and his coworker knew about the earthquakes. How they knew about the islands rising again. Like what voodoo is this? Then they show 8 years later. The girl gets to run and the brother gets to compete as well. And magically, everyone goes back to Japan and will try to live there again... And that is the ending. The end. Thanks for reading!

I love historical Japanese stories. That is why I gave this show a try....
And let me tell you: I don't get it. I don't get why the girl is so weak despite being the daughter of a powerful school leader. I don't know why she's so weak when she apparently trained for two years to get revenge. Then she gets to meet the killer of her parents and she just has long af conversations with him??? Also the dude fed her DOG MEAT, and she still chose to work with him the next episode? I don't understand her character as it is so wishy washy,
...
but I know for sure she is hella stupid and a coward.
I thought I could continue watching, but all this show does is show the bad sides of Japan during the time without actual plot or any character development. I mean look at Dororo, it is also taken place during older times and yet it has a plot, cute scenes as well as dark ones, and it also has a lot of character development. I dropped Blade of the Immortal when I reached episode 11, even though I wanted to continue, but I just couldn't.

It's me again, writing another review. I'm on fire. Anyway, so many people talk about Samurai Champloo, so I thought, it was time to finally give it a chance.
The beginning was amazing. I love how they showed the characters' lives before they met one another, each doing their own thing. Honestly, when it comes to the story/plot, for me, the start was good and then everything went downhill. This show was mainly fillers honestly (even though it was manga canon) and it barely focused on the actual story. It kept adding new, random people, who have the same goal to kill the characters, and
...
the the two main leads always beat them. Then the story starts to go somewhere before it goes absolutely nowhere. For example, Jin was given a love interest in episode 11, I think, and then the girl was completely forgotten about. Jin never even thought about her, and I thought... he had actually fallen in love with her. I mean he did risk his life, fought so many samurai just to help her escape, and they even shared sweet moments. So I was confused when like two episodes later he was in the Red Light District. Like my respect for Jin went so high when he saved the girl, and she was actually a very good love interest for him. But then they just made her into another random, one-episode character who is never shown again.
The plot had too much bun and not enough meat. What I mean by that is that they focused on everything but the characters' background story, the sunflower samurai, etc. Only once in a while we were given actual plot. I wanted more than one or two episodes about Jin and Mugen's background story. More flashbacks. All the important parts of the story are just pushed together in the last few episodes. Fuu finally meets her dad and he dies right after. Everything is so rushed in the end.
Now moving on to characters. I personally did not like Fuu. She was annoying for sure since she neglect to even tell the two male leads about what the name of the samurai was that they were searching. Like how are they going around the country with the two male leads not having any clue besides that the samurai smelled like sunflowers? I mean she's 15 not 5. There should've been a better reason for the three of them to be traveling together. Jin and Mugen are both free birds. They don't seem the type to just listen to a girl, but apparently they did.
Idk, I just feel like one of the biggest reason why this show got such high ratings is because it's an older show with more freedom when it comes to the dialogue and scenes. Definitely, Jin and Mugen carried the show, and the dialogues were funny. Other than that, there was no actual plot besides them helping a girl find a samurai who smells like sunflower. Like just imagine a girl forces you, a grown man, that he MUST help her find a man who smells like sunflowers, and no additional detail is given. LOL.
Overall, I've seen worse shows. It really did have lots of protentional in the beginning. There was room for romance as well (I know the girl was like 15, but at that time, age like that didn't matter). However, I guess I like the fact that she ended up with none of them since they're on another level, and she just nags, gets captured all the time, and then has the audacity to say they're useless bodyguards.

Hello people, I have finally watched Dororo, so please read my review :))))))
Let me say that I have been waiting to watch this anime for a loonng time, and now that I finally have, I think that it definitely deserves a review.
I read some of the reviews below and I am quite surprised to see so many people disliking it (I mean of course, it's everyone's opinion and no one is right or wrong).
I also would like to share my opinion as well.

Story:
Firstly, I enjoyed the historical setting. I love anything dealing with old Japan era (such as Inuyasha). Samurais, feudal lords,
...
swords, demons. Everything about these things are awesome. Historical anime are very rare . I'm so used to seeing modern concepts such as work place settings, school settings, etc., so it's very refreshing to see old times where the customs and culture were different. Talking about the story, I think it was a very entertaining story: a lord has become a father and he feeds his child to the demon gods. The author shows both sides of the story, making the viewer really question who's right and who's wrong--> I mean of course, I know that it is immoral to sacrifice an innocent child to the demons. I'm talking about later on, when the entire village was at stake.
Hyakkimaru's story is wonderful. A child who grew up with nothing, yet he has the strong desire to live. Dororo's story is great too. A child who was raised among war and had the same desire to survive through it.
I read a lot of comments go: "the story was predictable." I mean... every anime is predictable in someway. 99% of Shonen anime have goofy, loud, obnoxious protagonists that are either so weak in the beginning or have a devil inside of them and they have to prove the world that they are the good guys. You know what I'm talking about, right? It's the same foundation for most plots. Same with shoujo: girl is clumsy, can't fight for herself, doesn't have a backbone; then she falls in love with a guy who's soooooo cool, hates everyone but has a soft side for the girl who literally doesn't even have a character.
So yeah, I did not think the plot was soooo predictable. Of course, there were episodes where back to back he defeated demons and got his parts back... I know that is what people mean by redundant, but come on, how else would the story progress? His goal is to get his body back, and how can he do that without defeating the demons? In my opinion, the story went on a good pace. It wasn't too rushed, and I enjoyed the fact that Hyakki didn't take like ten episodes to kill off one monster.
Something else that others mentioned in their review: Dororo felt like it was "monster of the week" structure. Hmm...it kind of had to be? Each demon had a body part. He had to kill each demon one-by one to get the body part. How else was Hyakki going to do that if he didn't kill them off one by one? They had to show how he got each body part, and to show that, they had to show how he killed each demon.

Character:
Moving on to characters. I honestly enjoyed the interaction between Dororo and Hyakkimaru. Both of them have a similar goal even if it's for different reasons: to survive. Hyakki wants his body back to feel like a human, and Dororo refuses to die due to the war. Right off the bat, they became good friends even though Hyakki couldn't see nor hear Dororo. His trust in Dororo and Dororo's will to stick by Hyakki created a beautiful bond.
The story is about Dororo and Hyakki not the other side characters. The side characters are there to enhance the main two characters. The only ones who really matter are the monk, Jukai, and Hyakki's family. For example, Mio was important, but not as a love interest for Hyakki. There is no way Hyakki even loved her; he only saw her as someone like a gentle drizzle of rain that calmed him down-- especially her voice. I don't even know why people ship her with him. It would be kind of weird for Hyakki to know and understand what love even is at that point since he basically doesn't even understand himself and his senses. He really is portrayed as a toddler(which is so adorable btw hehe).
Which leads me to my next point: Dororo x Hyakki as a couple.
No, it is not weird. Like I mentioned before, Hyakki himself is innocent, like a toddler. He never looked at Dororo with dirty eyes or anything. He's definitely not a pervert-- even though his lack of personal space can make others think that. Honestly, one can argue that Dororo is and will be more mature than Hyakki for a long long time until Hyakki learns to adapt more. Dororo knew the concept of sex at that young age, while Hyakki doesn't even know why rubbing heads with other people is wrong. Also, people, the age difference is like what 5, 6? I know so many people who have a much greater age difference. So many shoujo and josei manga promote age gaps and some are even illegal, so I don't understand why others would have a problem with a bond between Dororo and Hyakki. I love the fact that Hyakkimaru leaves Dororo at the end-- and no he shouldn't have physically said goodbye because he knew Dororo would've wanted to tag along. He wanted to learn about himself and the world by himself-- and it is implied that they meet each other again when they're older. Much more mature, I bet. Also it's older times, of course the standards are different back then than they are now.
The anime should've explained how Hyakki can understand things despite his lack of hearing, smelling, speaking, etc. I read somewhere that he has some special abilities, or that he could understand things via telepathy. I mean now that I think about it, Dororo did say there was no way Hyakki was understanding, but the monk said he did in his own way, so I guess? Still, Hyakkimaru has some fire grammar for someone who never talked. I wish he talked in choppy sentences some more.
I also wished they showed the background of the Monk some more. I mean he was almost always there. The only thing we learned from him was the fact that he was an ex-samurai. What happened that made him change? How did he become so wise?

The Ending:
I liked it. Everyone got what they deserved (well not the poor villagers :(((...) Lord Daigo, especially. He used the demons to gain everything, and because of that, in the end he lost everything: the land, his family, his people. I'm glad that it wasn't a predictable ending where Hyakki killed his father. That would be too easy for Daigo. Losing everything you fought for is the biggest punishment he could've gotten. Superb. Also, of course, seeing the older Dororo run, to what I hope was towards Hyakki, was also amazing. Not a cringey, lovey-dovey ending.

Phew, this was a long review, and I think I have put everything that I wanted to. *Ahem* to sum it all up, I would like to say Dororo is very wonderful show. It's surprising how underrated this is. I try to find merchandise of it, and I rarely found anything. So sad :((( Anyway, thank you Mappa <3333

Okay, so I'd been wanting to see this movie for quite some time, and I finally watched it yesterday.
I have to say that art was lovely. I really enjoyed the cinematography.

For the plot, I have to say it wasn't such a "wow" one. Like it was pretty average. The story is about a girl who is unable to walk and a college student who looks after her for money offered by her grandma. The grandma always tells her that the world is so scary, so she must keep inside...
You see the concept would've been okay if

the setting was taken place like in old times. However, in the modern world, there are plenty of individuals who are handicap and work, go out, etc. It's kind of unrealistic. Not impossible, but unrealistic. And then, the grandma gets happy and laughs when the girl keeps going outside with the guy??? That was very contradicting. Then the grandma dies (like in almost every movie or show or book) just so that the plot can become dark and gloomy. I'm sure, the grandma thought she can finally rest and pass on because Josee found someone. But that is so contradicting. Why keep Josee locked in the house, away from society, but then get happy enough to pass on now that she found someone?
The whole plot was that even if life gets to you, and you feel helpless enough to quit your dreams and bury yourself in darkness, keep moving on. It's a pretty common trope. Like I said, the movie isn't bad; it's just average. The plot is average. The only scene that even stuck out to me was where they're at the ocean and he's carrying her.
Talking about characters now. The characters are so average as well. Typical tsundere girl and nice boy. He literally saved her from nearly dying when they first met, but she goes on and calls him a pervert and keeps calling him that. And then when he works for her, she calls him a servant. I guess the movie maker tried making her sound cute like a tiny gremlin, but I just found her annoying.
Then of course, the side characters were typical as well: stupid, impatient, jealous girl who has a crush on her co-worker but doesn't tell him until he's having a life crisis and is in a freaking wheelchair; and a happy-go-lucky guy who flirts with girls and girls is all that he can talk about. Like, why do all the love rivals have to be so immature. Like even though she backed off, she still said stupid things to Josee and lied to her about how the guy feels about her. IDK. I didn't really enjoy the characters at all.
Now talking about the main couple. I felt that they had absolutely no chemistry except sharing one similar goal: achieving their dreams. But that is just my opinion. It wasn't anything special like how it was in the movie "Ride Your Wave." The couple in there actually connected and created a special bond, so it made the watcher cry even more. Also the ending was just :/ He comes home without telling her and surprises her after like a year, I think, and she just goes oh wow why didn't you tell me. Idk about you guys, but if someone whom I loved came back to me after a long time, I'd be like throwing my arms around them. It was such a bland ending. They just chatted and laughed as if he came back from the store or something. Wouldn't it been nice if she tried to get up, fell, and he sat on the floor with her, hugging and like tearing up from the emotions that he came back? Idk maybe that is my hopeless romantic side that's talking.
Also is it me or they didn't even show him with the orange fish that he wanted to see so badly???

You know, I was very excited when this anime was about to come out. I saw so many posts on Instagram and stuff, so I was like "YAYYY, can't wait."
Now that I've watched it... I really, really, can't give it a high score no matter how much I want to. I know MAPPA did a great job with the animation and everyone worked hard on it, and I appreciate them. However...
The reason I gave it a low score is because of the plot and the characters. Like someone mentioned before, I would also rather have a mediocre art with a good plot than amazing art

with a mediocre storyline. After all, if the plot nearly makes me want to quit watching it all the time... what's the point?
There is something wrong with Jujutsu Kaisen. It's not the animation or the soundtrack. It's the overall experience with it. Like many others have said, yes, the plot is overused, the characters are nothing special nor are their interactions with one another. Even with 24 episodes, I feel like it's all just random scenes and fighting. I know... it's a shounen and shounen has a lot of fighting most of the time. However, every other shounen out there establishes the plot pretty well before or after 24 episodes. For me, the only good part so far has been Junpei's story, and even that felt rushed. One of the worst things about JK, for me, is that they do not explain the techniques, their functions, how they came to be, etc. well at all. They seem to just spit out ten thousand techniques and make the techniques work in their favor so they could win somehow.
I don't know. I can't call it "horrible" because that would be calling all the other shounen anime out there "horrible" since, for me, 95% of JK is borrowed from other shounen. I get it: it's hard to be 100% original. And no one is expecting that. However, the same flow, the plot and characters mixed together is very boring to see for the ten thousandth time without a spark in the story. I feel like Gojo, who looks like Kakashi and acts Dazai, is one of the biggest reason why people are obsessed with this show. I don't know why he's overhyped. I mean he's cool and all, but I'm pretty sure it's because he acts exactly like Dazai and has a pretty face. That is all.
I haven't read the manga. Maybe it gets better. Maybe it's super slow with development because they have much, much, much, more to cover. Idk. All I reviewed is season 1 and season 1 only. And that is my honest opinion.
