Well, you probably didn't lose interest for no reason, and other than Umineko no Naku Koro ni, there is nothing that I would even "force" on someone.
So while I'd recommend you checking out at least one or two full volumes before giving up on the entire thing, as it could be that you find yourself drawn in, as you initially seemed to have interest in the first place, it's beyond me to make you try again.
I really enjoyed reading Punpun, but it's not for everyone.
So, to make it short, give it a shot that's long one or two volumes, as that's not this much, and feel free to drop it after that. There is nothing bad about being uninterested in something. Life is too short to do stuff you don't wanna do, and work/school fills up most of that time anyways.
