This is a very obvious fetish anime. Can't say I'm surprised, but definitely disappointed. The whole plot is summarized in the anime name; a perverted old man dies by getting hit by a car and is reincarnated as different things these teenage girls use. Some of the most questionable items being a bicycle seat and a pacifier.

For a show revolving around ASMR, there's hardly any scenes involving it. The scenes that do have ASMR are dampened by loud voices and have maybe 10 seconds of silence, being generous with an estimate. Despite the episodes being a staggeringly short 3 ... minutes, it's painful and very hard to sit through, even as something to watch while bored.

There are so many other anime to watch for any of the genres Aru Asa Dummy Head tries to hit (comedy, GL, ASMR, SOL) that are much more entertaining: The Way of the House Husband is one of my favourite shorts.

Nemuri no Fuchi was okay. The beginning plot had potential, but the writer most likely lacked the skills to properly develop and write the story well. After chapter 7 it began to get confusing. Characters were introduced too quickly with little development, the storyline twisted many times, and too many tiny details were added that really gave nothing to the MAIN story. The main character feels very plain and lacks the depth I would like to see when reading something. It's not boring enough to not recommend, but it's also not that interesting.

The whole plot consists of this mysterious maze "universe" that shows itself in random places on earth. It follows our MC Shuuhei who lost his friend to the maze years earlier. He blames himself for his friends disappearance, and so he goes on a mission to find her within the maze. Sounds promising! After he "finds" her the first time, the story gets confusing.

We learn that this maze needs to “connect itself” to a universe to survive, and Shuuhei’s friend is the chain. Also that time travel is possible. And that a private organization wants to benefit off the maze. And there’s a mad scientist living inside the maze. All in that order! They're also never developed upon, so don't expect to hear about any of them more than once.

Through Shuuchi’s time travel to prevent his friends disappearance, he alters the future which in turn makes everything that much harder to follow and understand. It ends with Shuuchi finding her (who could've guessed), and it turns out the whole story was just her bad dream! Pretty boring ending for a storyline that had a decent amount of potential.

Overall, the art is cool looking sometimes, but it’s for when you’re bored and have nothing better to read.

This is my second time watching Tokyo Ghoul, my first watch of the season being when it freshly came out. This anime was beautifully executed while keeping the plot at a steady pace. Most negative reviews I had seen were manga readers complaining about the lack of depth that the anime had compared to the manga, but I feel that if studio Pierrot added every development point added in the manga the season would've been up to 30 episodes.

Every episode was captivating. While I wish the art was closer to the mangas style, it was stunning and the work put into each scene is obvious and paid off in making the show visually appealing. While the story's main plot in this season is the most average "divide in society" thing you can imagine, the season is saved by the development of characters on both sides and its occasional slice of life style.

Once Rize is killed by the beams and we begin to see the show unravel (pun not intended), everything truly felt like it was falling right into place. The culture shock Kaneki felt after stepping onto Nishikis' "territory", the open cannibalism in the ghoul community, and seeing just how well they all blended into human society. I am a sucker for stories revolving around bringing two different communities together, so naturally I loved seeing the differences in both sides and how they interacted with one another.

The introduction of Ryouko and Hinami was beautifully done. A mother and daughter fleeing to safety to show the humanity of ghouls is easy to predict, but effective. Another example is Toukas friendship with Yoriko, or Nishikis relationship with Kimi: predictable, but effective. The art with calming neutral tones and soundtrack with light music captivated me to really feel just how happy these characters were in their "human" moments, and the sudden change when faced with their ghoul reality to a darker palette and noise was very beneficial in world building.

I began to lose interest during the Aogiri arc, purely because I was more interested in Rize and Kaneki's conversations than the small war happening outside Kaneki's mind. The conversations that went on as Kaneki slowly lost his sanity could not have been done better; the white purity of his mind slowly turning red as he allowed Rize's mentality seep into his own, the anger he finally stopped repressing against his mother, and the final acceptance of his new ghoul identity.

I am excited to continue to the next seasons and have incredibly high hopes.

The manga is ruined completely by the translator and the unneeded jokes. I'm a fan of slashers and so I had incredibly high hopes coming into the manga. After seeing two instances of shitty mid-2010s memes in panels and "be gone thot" it became boring. I had begun reading Pumpkin Night in 2019 and dropped it shortly after for this reason, and was disappointed to see after picking it up again today that this problem has not changed.

If you're looking to read it purely for the art, then I would highly recommend you do so. Every panel is beautifully drawn, ... and the artist has an amazing way of creating unique characters (aside from a few) while still keeping everything from being too chaotic. Part one was amazing for the most part, a very typical slasher with a teenage girl wanting revenge. It was visually stunning as well, every single panel had immense detail drawn into it and the storyline was very easy to follow. The characters were consistent and easy to remember. While the quality in art didn't change, the story slowly became less and less appealing after Donald Trumps debut. Shortly after this the translator steadily began making more gags in the story, ruining the moody and edgy atmosphere required for horror fiction.

The story takes a bit of a drop off after part one and I was struggling to find where the plot was going; once Naruto was killed the manga should have ended.

In part two, the arrival of the Doctor and a random talking dog (not sure if that was a meme from the translator or in the original Japanese version) was very confusing. Part two is still being written at the time of this review, but it felt like many major plot points, such as why Naoko is still alive, are being neglected. The story has no clear path and doesn't appear to have one soon. The art is appealing and the new characters are fun.

Overall, the manga has lost my interest and I don't think I'll seriously read it to finish. It feels like wasted potential.
