Beware of rating/dropping this anime too soon. I almost made the mistake of doing so.
To be more clear, the first 7-8 episodes are COMPLETELY different from the remaining episodes. Patience is key— they really took their time in the “origin story” or prologue of sorts (the first 7 or 8 episodes). Honestly it might have been a little too much — I bet many watchers would drop and underrate the show before then. I almost did. So basically, in my opinion the first 2-2.5hours are kinda boring, and don’t contribute a ton to the overall story—it also is fairly confusing, I didn’t really connect

Alright so this is a preliminary review, so bear with me. I've seen about half of this anime. I just want to make a few quick spoiler-free comments.
--- First of all, this show definitely has a strong comedic quality that you basically NEED to understand Mandarin to appreciate more than like 5-10% of (said comedy) -- because all the available subs just REALLY (like I really can't stress how bad they are) miss the mark (at least currently, March 2022). Not going to say a lot -- mainly writing this review/comment because no other reviews exists. This show deserves a bit more attention IMO. It has a surprisingly low score -- I nearly skipped this show because of its 6-ish score. I honestly think this show should at least average a 7. I blame the really bad subs that are available and low popularity.
This show also lacks better tagging -- there is definitely some romance and comedy. Reminds me of Yi Nian Yong Heng, although comparing the two is rather difficult. The comedy antics are quite similar, and the MCs have quite similar personalities in ... |
