There are no spoilers in this review. I give this anime a 7.8.
For those looking for a brief summary, skip to the “Overall” at the bottom of this review.
Story: 8
This way this anime illustrates the hardships one must overcome when trying to change oneself is well done. Although the story does have a goal, the format is more episodic focusing on one character’s escape from the life of a hikikomori (social recluse) through different experiences. As I watched each episode I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was missing – whether that’s intentional to make the viewer understand how the main character feels
...
about his life, or the anime is genuinely missing something I do not know. A review I read by Nishiyamo said it perfectly.
“But, as many other great series, NHK ni Youkoso! is not perfect, not even in storytelling, which shows especially in rough transitions between various minor arcs trying to thematize very different issues socially inept people have to deal with. This leads to a somewhat staccato-styled storytelling, with its story broken up into several pieces and being not fluent enough to be considered a realistic tale. A very inconsistent implementation of romantic elements adds to this and makes me question the characters' attitudes.”
Characters: 8
The characters of this show have complex personalities with well-constructed backstories. My biggest complaint is that I wanted to like the MC but his bad qualities far outnumbered his good ones so I found myself constantly questioning why I wanted him to be cured of his hikikomori situation when he didn’t do anything to deserve it aside from having a desire to be cured. I found his actions and personality pathetic but that was probably intentional as well.
Art: 7
The art was decent for its time. On rare occasions the animation took up a completely different art style to make the scene more interesting and I appreciated that.
Sound: 8
I found myself drawn to the eccentric western-style music which one would think has no place in this type of anime – yet it worked.
Overall: 7.8
This is one of those anime that stay on your mind for a bit after completing it. The growth of the MC was portrayed well but the pacing of the story felt off. The characters were layered and believable but it was too difficult to root for the MC because of how pathetic he was – although that might have been intentional. The art was decent and the western-style soundtrack actually worked well with the story which I found remarkable.
I wish I could give it higher but I still feel as though it was missing something. I do not feel entirely satisfied at the completion of this anime.

There are no spoilers in this review. I give this anime a 5.6.
For those looking for a brief summary, skip to the “Overall” at the bottom of this review.
Story: 6
This anime took the classic story of someone trying for world domination and made it into a comedy. It definitely had potential but after the first few episodes it became literally just another harem anime. By the 7th episode I wanted to drop the anime but held out until the end and regret it.
Characters: 4
What threw me off about this anime were the implausible characters. The only person who got a backstory throughout this
...
entire anime was Yusa, and an excellent one at that. Unfortunately, they took any hint of drama that would have given the show substance and ruined it with poor comedy. I had a few laughs, but the 1-dimensional characters and poor execution of the plot made this anime feel like the creators of One Punch Man tried too hard to make a serious anime and fell into their satirical ways halfway through each dramatic scene.
Art: 7
The art was decent. Nothing amazing, but at least not as terrible as the characters.
Sound: 6
The sound didn’t stand out to me either. I’m just giving it less than a 7 because of my sheer disappointment with this anime.
Overall: 5.6
The story was world domination with a nice twist. Unfortunately, the 1-dimensional characters ruined any chance this story had of succeeding and the poor comedy took out any morsel of substance this show had. It felt like the creators of One Punch Man tried too hard to make a serious anime and fell into their satirical ways halfway through each dramatic scene. Art and sound were decent but nothing to brag about. Even if there is a season 2, I will not be watching it. Huge disappointment.

There are no spoilers in this review. My rating system counts story for 30% of the total, characters as 30%, art as 20%, and 20% for the sound.
I give this anime a 7.5 and I'll tell you why. For those looking for a brief summary, skip to the “Overall” at the bottom of this review.
Story: 7
The story of a new challenges arising as a result of a portal to another world opening up is not new. I’ve seen it in World Trigger and I’ve seen it in Zero no Tsukaima. What this anime did differently is make the other world technologically
...
inferior to Japan, which I have never seen done before, and also delved into the politics of Japan as well as the new world. If not for this spin on the usual plot, I would have given the story a 6, but no matter it was not the story that carried this anime.
Characters: 8
The characters and relationship between the characters were the best parts of this anime.
Itami is a brilliant commander and leader but dense when it comes to matters of love – the classic formula for the main character and center of a harem anime. For the first time, I actually didn’t mind this stereotype. His lovable personality and refreshing decision to put his hobbies before work covered for his flaws. It is also nice that this anime didn’t make his inability to detect romance the main focus of his screen time.
Even though I include this in the sound rating, Rory’s voice actor. Enough said.
Art: 7
The character design was fantastic. I love how they drew the different characters, but aside from that, the art wasn’t anything special.
Sound: 8
It is rare that I actually enjoy the theme music for an anime but this is a rare exception. The fact that the theme music was so epic, combined with Rory’s voice actor, was enough to score this anime an 8 in sound. Lelei’s voice actor had the perfect amount of innocence as well.
Overall: 7.5
What makes this anime so enjoyable to watch and gives it an even higher score than Erased and Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! is its ability to add original twists to an already proven formula. The classic invasion story was made more interesting by portraying the enemy to be clearly inferior to Japan and delving into the political intrigue of the new world. The main character of this harem anime acted as a fool when love was involved but rather than focusing on that minor detail, the anime focused on his reliability and general badassness. The art and sound worked well together to bring out the charm and humor of the characters. A solid anime all around and I look forward to the next season.

I give this anime a 7.1 and I'll tell you why. For those looking for a brief summary, skip to the “Overall” at the bottom of this review.
Story: 6
The story is literally about a pitcher who needs to overcome his yips (yes same exact thing as Major) in order to pitch and steal the ace number from his rival. I can’t really give the story a higher rating than 6 simply because it’s nothing
...
new. I suppose the reason I’m giving this as high as a 6 is because despite the unoriginal storyline, I was hooked and eagerly awaited each new episode as it came out. If there was even a little romance involved than I might have given it a 7.
Characters: 7
I would have loved to give the characters higher since I really enjoyed Sawamura’s personality as the lovable loudmouth, Miyuki as the genius, and Raichi as the baseball loving freak, but Furuya ruined it for me. They also gave a serious amount of backstory to the enemy teams Seidou faced which I thoroughly enjoyed. I didn’t mind that Furuya was given as much screen time, if not more screen time than Sawamura since it worked really well in the first season to show us Sawamura’s frustration and growth, but this season there was literally no character development for Furuya at all. He had the depth of Saitama from One Punch Man except this wasn’t a satirical anime. Sure Sawamura had some development, but for someone who got so much screen time, I would have loved to see Furuya do more than literally blow steam from his body and have an intense aura. He had no development despite his huge role in the anime.
Art: 8
The art was probably the strong suit of this anime as it really knew how to bring out the intensity behind every pitch. Normally an anime that shows mostly sports games, such as Kuroku no Basket, would get boring to me after the first 50 episodes depending on how well it was done. This anime kept my attention throughout because of the careful attention paid to the backgrounds and auras of the characters when the situation on the field grew intense. Really well done.
Sound: 8
The sound of this anime helped carry the unoriginal story and terribly boring rival character. Shout out to Raichi’s addicting laugh and Sawamura’s chant. Also shout out to the decision to use silence as the sound that makes the most important scenes more intense.
Overall: 7.1
Despite the anime’s unoriginal story I found myself hooked and eagerly anticipating each episode as I waited each week. The cast had some truly memorable characters but since the character with literally no development got most of the screen time, it dragged down the anime. If not for the art and amazing sound, I probably would have dropped this anime, but they kept my eyes glued to the screen and my heart hammering. Well done Ace of Diamond. I will be watching season 3 if one comes but pray that they give the MC’s rival more development.

I give this anime a 7.2 and I'll tell you why. For those looking for a brief summary, skip to the “Overall” at the bottom of this review.
Story: 7
This reminds me a bit of the film Cleo From 5 to 7 (live action movie) in the sense that the story isn’t really about a goal per say but about a journey. I feel as though this season was the perfect set up for the
...
next one. It allowed us to explore this world of Grimgar and get invested into the characters to prepare us for their next journey. Unfortunately, I believe the frequent montages made the anime feel like it was dragging on more than it had to.
Characters: 7
I feel as though this season was meant to build up each character in the party and get the audience invested in them. In the beginning the characters lacked depth but as the season continued, especially in the later episodes, each of the characters began getting more emotional complex, and the relationships between the characters evolved as the season progressed. I believe the characters of this show have a lot of potential.
Art: 8
The art of this show was incredibly unique. The environment was filled with beautiful reflections of water, sunrises and sunsets, the list goes on. I especially loved the attention paid to even the most insignificant monsters that gave them just as important an appearance as the main characters. Of course I could not find forget the beautiful artwork of Mary. I’d say her and Kaori from “Your Lie In April” are the two most beautifully drawn anime characters I have ever seen.
Sound: 7
The music of this anime was decent. Nothing stood out to me in a good way or bad.
Overall: 7.2
Despite its unimpressive score, I believe this anime has the most potential to make an absolutely mind-blowing season 2 out of any anime I have watched this season, including Erased, Dimension W, and KonoSuba: God's Blessing on This Wonderful World! This anime gave me a tour of the fantasy world of Grimgar and a perfect introduction to the main characters. The art was incredibly unique and the character of Mary is in my top two most beautifully drawn anime characters to date. I’m eagerly awaiting a season 2.

Story: 8
This anime is about a boy who goes back in time in an attempt to save his friends from being murdered. Often times, plots that involve time travel are overcomplicated with too many plot holes that distract from the story. This anime doesn’t fall into that trap.
...
The plot, although complex, is easy to follow as the story progresses. The pacing is smooth and execution of the story is done well. I wish I can give this story a higher score than 8 but I didn’t find myself hooked.
Characters: 7
I felt the characters of this anime were well grounded. The MC was easy to like and had some fine qualities. The MC’s friends were also decently layered with varying background stories. However, I didn’t feel such an intense connection to any of the characters. I find it sad that the character I liked seeing most was Airi when she wasn’t even in a few episodes of the show.
Art: 8
The art was a huge strongpoint for this anime. It didn’t need to rely on beautiful sunsets or magic spells to keep the viewers’ attention onscreen because the viewer felt as though he were there, in the action, with the characters. The attention to detail on each character’s face portrayed his/her emotions flawlessly, so much so, that many scenes could have been understood without any sound at all.
Sound: 6
The music of this anime, though underwhelming at times, was good. I can’t say any particular scenes stood out to me because of the soundtrack, and that counts as both a positive and a negative.
Overall: 7.3
The story of this anime was unique and well done. It didn’t drag on and the technicalities of time travel didn’t distract from the story. The characters were fine but I didn’t feel a strong connection to them and didn’t find myself particularly invested in anyone. The art of this show was a huge strongpoint and I particularly enjoyed the attention detail in the animation of the characters’ faces as they experienced different hardships. The music of the anime felt underwhelming at times though it didn’t stand out in a bad way either. I very much enjoyed this show and am looking forward to an even better season 2 that will hopefully give me more time to get invested in the characters.

Under the my formula, this anime would receive a 7.3. But I feel it has greatly affected me and I can't stop thinking about it so I'm going to give it an 8 simply becauase of my enjoyment and its deeep impact it had on me. For those looking for a brief summary, skip to the “Overall” at the bottom of this review.
Story: 8
The story of this anime itself is not very original but
...
the pacing and execution is incredible. I couldn’t tear my eyes away from the screen and breezed through all 51 episodes in 2 days. The story focuses on an aspiring actress’s journey to stardom. I would have loved to given this anime a higher story rating but the ending left me unsatisfied. I feel as if the anime ended off in the middle of a story arc, and in the anime’s defense, it wasn’t left with much of a choice since the manga is still unfinished but I couldn’t help but feel disappointed as the ending credits rolled. Still, even with the lackluster ending, I thoroughly enjoyed the series.
Characters: 9
The characters of this anime were amazing. I now realize I have a huge weakness for the MC’s who are hardworking and diligent even as life knocks them down. Maya, the MC of this anime captured my heart within the first few episodes and my affection for Maya only grew as it progressed. The supporting characters, especially Masumi, were spectacularly layered so that this anime wasn’t a case of good vs. evil because the different characters had so much depth and so many layers to their background.
Art: 7
Since I saw this anime over 10 years after it was produced, I think it has a huge disadvantage compared to what is produced nowadays but since it didn’t get in the way of the fantastic characters and brilliant execution of the story, I will give it a 7. I especially loved the art of each of the characters.
Sound: 4
The sound of this anime definitely appeared as the weak point for me. What specifically comes to mind is the incredible overuse of unnecessary evil laughs and the music that always followed Chigusa wherever she went. I found myself noticing the music quite a lot but only because I thought, “that music is really distracting me from this scene,” or “that music is really overkill and should be gentler for this scene” or “ANOTHER EVIL LAUGH?” I think this anime could have actually been much better with better fitting music.
Overall: 7.3
I enjoyed this anime immensely. Even though it was 51 episodes long, I couldn’t stop watching and haven’t felt this hooked to an anime since I saw “Your Lie In April” nearly a year ago. Although the story has been done many times before, the execution and pacing of Glass no Kamen was brilliantly done. The main character captured my heart and even the supporting characters had a great amount of depth to them. Unfortunately, the art is nothing special compared to what is released now, but it didn’t hold me back from fully enjoying this anime. The sound, however, was not good and held me back from the full extent of this anime. Even though it has now been over 10 years since this anime’s release, I eagerly await a second season if there ever is one.

Story: 5
I’m sorry if I sound angry while I writing this review, I just finished the series and am rather dissapointed. Same old love story. MC is incredibly dense/introverted when it comes to love. Gives the supporting character hell and goes through hell because of it. Only
...
twist is that this MC happens to work as a maid. Big fucking deal.
Characters: 4
The only reason I am not giving the characters of this show a 3 is because I really did love the MC. You can’t help but love an earnest, hard-working, MC. But her character is still incredibly stereotypical. The male MC had the same personality as Saitama from One Punch Man except with even less of a backstory, less depth, and less comedy. I was waiting for some sort of intense backstory to be revealed that would make me like him but there was nothing.
Art: 4
The art for this show wasn’t terrible but once I saw too many characters that looked exactly the same I couldn’t help but give it a 4. I mean talented blonde haired boys seemed to make up 30% of the cast.
Sound: 6
Sadly the sound of this anime was the best part. I loved the little sound effects made to emphasize “stares” and other little actions.
Overall: 4.4
I am incredibly disappointed with this anime. Different characters developed as the show went on but the relationships between the characters didn’t change a single bit. It was basically 26 episodes of the same exact love plot over and over again. 26 episodes waiting for nothing. There wasn’t even a buildup of drama as the episodes progressed because the romance and characters in the show made no headway.

I give Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo! a 6.45 and I'll tell you why. For those looking for the summary, skip to the conclusion.
Story: 6
The story of this anime was decent but not groundbreaking. We follow the protagonist after his death as he is transported to a new world in order to beat the evil king of a parallel universe. The story of this anime basically takes the comedy and ecchi from Is
...
It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? and combines it with the tangible goal of escape similar to Sword Art Online. I also enjoy that this show revolves around one guy surrounded by three girls but doesn’t give him the stereotypical characteristics of incredibly nice and incredibly dense with romance – it takes more the perverted path.
Characters: 8
Personally, the characters are what I enjoyed most about this show.
The MC was perverted, similar to Hyoudou, the main character of High School DxD, but not so much so that it was the focus of the anime. This combined with his intelligence and ability to not get immediately blinded by sex appeal is what makes him different from many ecchi harem MC’s out there.
Aqua, the original supporting main character, fulfilled the role of the annoying and surprisingly capable crybaby. I found her similar to the MC of Skip Beat! simply because of how incredibly annoying melodramatic she was but actually proved to be quite capable when needed. That is as far as the comparison goes since the MC of Skip Beat! has a lot more going for her than Aqua.
Megumin, the mage was a cute, lovable character, but not a very complex character. Still, I very much enjoyed her and what she added to the party so I can’t say her lack of intense backstory was a huge negative.
The character that I found most original and entertaining was definitely Darkness, the crusader. I won’t say more in fear of ruining her character for those who haven’t seen this anime yet, but let’s just say I have never seen anything like it. Really entertaining and the reason I gave the characters the score of 8.
Art: 6
The art for this anime was good and I especially enjoyed the animations when different abilities were used but nothing blew my mind. I also couldn’t help but think of King Arthur from Stay Night whenever I saw Darkness, and couldn’t help but think of Rikka Takanashi from Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! when looking at the character of Megumin. If the characters looked more unique I would have given the art a higher score.
Sound: 7
The sound served perfectly to heighten the emotions meant to be given forth by the video. The sound effects and music made the comedy much funnier than it would have been without the sound. I also enjoyed the voice acting.
Overall: 6.45
I very much enjoyed this anime. It is the closest I have come so far to enjoying a satire anime. Although this isn’t classified as satire, I view it as one. Since I am not particularly fond of the satire genre, this is a surprisingly high score for me. Even I will admit that One Punch Man was brilliantly done but still give it a 6.2 simply because I do not particularly enjoy that genre, and therefore, not that anime. The character and comedy of this anime carried the 10 episodes of this series effortlessly through and although I am not eagerly awaiting the second season, I look forward to watching it when it is released.

I give One Punch Man a 6.2 and I'll tell you why.
Story: 6
The story in itself was not that great. Simply put, there are people who act as heroes and they protect the world from getting destroyed by monsters. The anime focuses on one of those heroes. The only thing that really makes this story slightly more creative is that the heroes have a rating system where the higher a hero is, the more respect he/she
...
gets.
Characters: 6
I enjoyed the quirks and personalities of most of the minor characters in this anime, but I found the main character quite boring. Making the main character overpowered is acceptable to me as long as there are redeeming qualities, but Saitama had none.
For example, the main character of Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In A Dungeon was insanely overpowered but at least he had an interesting personality and had to go through hardships before acquiring those powers. Saitama didn’t earn his powers and the entire season never bothered to show why he deserved them.
Art: 7
The art for One Punch Man was spot on for the anime. It didn’t blow my mind, but the style fit the anime. When there was an intense fight the animation looked completely different from when there was comedy involved. The monsters looked pretty epic as well. Even though I wouldn’t say the art was outstanding, it definitely carried the shallow story throughout the season.
Sound: 8
The music for this anime, especially the theme song, was perfect. It really kept the anime interesting, and the sound, along with the art, is what kept me from dropping the anime all together. Without the timing of the music, the comedy of this anime would not have been nearly as good.
Overall: 6.2
After completing this anime, I honestly felt like I wasted my time. The driving force of this anime was humor but it couldn’t quite carry the deadweight of the lackluster story and boring main character. If comedy is good enough to carry an anime for you then you’ll probably enjoy this anime but it wasn’t enough for me.
