Is Kaiju No 8 generic? Somewhat. But if the wheel isn't broken don't fix it.
This one has a slow start but from what i heard is performing and gaining an audience day by day and I'm for it.
The Story simple and easy to get into.
The characters? Unlike other battle shonen it seems that this one will focus more on the characters which is a plus.
The animation? top tier.
...
The character designs? I feel like the studio wanted more western vibes than east vibes. What I mean they're more cartoony. And trust me its working.
Overall a 8/10

The 2010s. The era where the question of whether something should exist seemed to lose its relevance, as practically anything thrown at the wall seemed to stick.
This particular story falls into the category of "should not exist," as it lacks purpose and depth, offering little more than wish fulfillment since the idea that escaping to another world is a solution to the challenges of the present one is both simplistic and flawed.
And The decline from cinematic quality to mere H-animation in the anime & multiple directors quitting reflects that even people working on this can perceive the shallowness of the storytelling. Who else can see
...
that better than the people working MONTHS on bringing this story to the animation medium and deciding to LEAVE?
This story simply epitomizes lazy writing, where minimal effort is evident, allowing for countless clones to flood the market. The absence of genuine effort means ANYONE, including the people who read this, could replicate it effortlessly, as has been seen in the abundance of similar narratives saturating the Japanese market.
Story or Plot? Non existent. His journey is as pointless as this entire series. Its all set up from start to finish to string you along until the author runs out of ideas and quietly laughs at all the suckers that bought it. This isn't a story. This is an exercise of checking out all the boxes that certain types of people would enjoy and lie that it helped them. This written exercise only offers temporary escapism for certain people and will leave them more damaged in the long run because one cannot yell the MC name and expect for life to go a certain way in the modern world. Its Flawed logic since people won't get things in life on minimal effort. Something that happens to the MC regularly: learning magic with ease, getting the girls with no effort, getting financial security throughout with minimal effort etc. This is just how a lot people think life should be going for them and after they read this they think they can get something similar. The road to self-improvement doesn't work like this. And I bet most fans praising this realized this after a while of putting it down and its whats causing the inevitable downfall of this story. So please to all the die-hard fans. Stop. This doesn't offer anything real about self-improvement. Bocchi The Rock has a coherent narrative about self improvement and that's why it became a top IP with a fraction of the time and volumes published.
Characters? Forgettable. They only exist to make the MC not seem so bad which is laughable to see people say: this is realism. Yeah. I bet you won't hang out with the characters in this dreck if you met someone similar because they would be those people who end up alone once they hit a certain age but this is why this story exists. For those type of people that think this is how realism works because the internet is filled with people talking the exact way these characters are but you wont see them talking like this in the real world. So what realism are they talking about? I do not know.
I think this story gained traction because the pandemic put the entire world in a bad mental state and part of the world still doesn't realized the general population is over that. So many people calling this peak are back to their senses and are leaving social media apps in droves realizing they've have been hijacked by those who choose to keep praising these things. Heck, companies that were racking money off clicks are closing because they're realizing how small that group of people truly are and don't speak on general taste. Yup. And for the love of god, please, MT fans stop comparing Frieren to this dreck. Yall look desperate by trying to ride Frieren's hype.
There's a reason why Frieren took the world by storm like it did and this one is being talked up solely by failing YT channels and irrelevant anime sites. Its simply what this thing and many isekai promised to be and never delivered. Its been a decade of isekais and one fantasy story with depth has more impact on the manga culture than Slime itself.
And Honestly, For those seeking substance and genuine fantasy that has been missing in the fantasy genre for what seems to be a DECADE OR MORE, "Frieren" stands as a stark contrast. Its depth and quality serve as a reminder of the shortcomings of such lazy wish-fulfillment narratives created by the isekai genre.

KONOSUBA IS BACK, BABY! It's been a whole seven years since it was last on the air, and that feels criminal. But finally, it's back, and what can I say except that it's great to see it return!
To be honest, I don't need to say much here. Just sit down and watch it. The series still hits the same, and the comedic gags are still gold.
The animation remains consistent, as they've kept the same director throughout.
And the characters? They're some of the most memorable in all of isekai. I can still recall the names of villains from previous seasons—that's how much of an impression they
...
leave.

Little Witch Academia is one of the most underrated anime ever produced, offering a unique take on the Magic School Genre as i seamlessly blends fantasy with science fantasy. The story follows Akko, a first-generation witch from Japan, who enrolls in Luna Nova. Despite her lack of magical prowess, she dreams of becoming a witch like her hero to spread joy in the world. This simple motivation leads to a captivating and original storyline. However, despite its potential for continuation, the anime remains a one-and-done deal due to Trigger's policy with IPs.
The characters are diverse and draw inspiration from European and Viking mythologies. The animation
...
is the series' standout feature, surpassing even newer anime of 2024 with its quality and Little Witch Academia's animation, produced in the mid-2010s
The story is filled with whimsy, humor, and heart, offering moments of self-discovery and growth for Akko and the extensive cast. While the series has a large cast, most characters receive their moments to shine and develop.
Overall, I give Little Witch Academia a 9/10.

It's now clear to me why they decided to revive Slime, Re:Zero, and Konosuba. This series is essentially a dumpster fire masquerading as a healing story but just an H-novel. It boldly touches on certain topics, but it probably shouldn't because the author lacks expertise in human psychology and what constitutes trauma. Instead, it's used as a justification for the protagonist to do nothing and acquire a wife he can be intimate with every night. Is this really the grandfather of isekai? It feels more like a label slapped on to lure investors into funding an anime adaptation.
The story has lost its direction, meandering aimlessly.
...
The protagonist has no real purpose and is just fed information that ultimately leads nowhere, much like the forgettable side characters. It's all about the main character living a life he couldn't in the modern world, disregarding basic decency and laws. If you're still watching, expecting a payoff, you'll be disappointed. The die-hard fans are lying to you. This story was simply designed in the 2010s to string along audiences with vague hints of progression, reaping profits from the setup. But audiences today are smarter and demand more substance. Yet this story remains stuck in perpetual setup mode, skipping years at a time to feign progress.
Die-hard fans need to stop crying when others abandon ship, cease buying merchandise, and BDs. There are far better isekai out there than this H-novel.
And don't fall for the lazy comparison the die-fans are making with Frieren Beyond's Journey Ends to get you to see this one to maintain the hype this one lost months ago. Frieren has depth, a point, and its foundation is not escapism for a NEET. LOL
Seriously? Not even remotely the same story so stop lying MT Fans.
Rating: 1/10
Update: the fans are getting angry and DM me at the fact that the world is seeing the story for what it is and deciding to not support. Keep at it, its going to leave the product as a subpart and disastrous adaption for whatever is left of the story.

Three episodes in and I'm already hooked, which is saying something considering I stopped enjoying action shonen since yhey seemed to veer away from the characters, opting instead for trivial antagonists and Saturday morning villains for the protagonist to defeat. However, Wind Breakers breaks that mold by offering an interesting cast of characters, a world governed by street rules, and various factions all in one package. and I love it.
So, what's the story about?
Essentially, our main character willingly immerses himself into a world of turf wars and street fights, setting Wind Breakers apart from other stories of this nature. Why? The fact that the protagonist
...
chooses to be there. Thats why. It adds a layer of depth that is lacking in most shonen stories and It's becoming increasingly rare in action series. Since most action shonen our main characters are usually thrust into dangerous situations against their will or simply because they're born with or acquired some overpowered ability, without any real reason to be in the story. In windbreaker, we have a protagonist rejected by society who decides to enroll in a school full of brawlers and turf wars to rise to the top.
It's not a flawless story, but its flaws can easily be overlooked because it keeps you coming back for more. You're compelled to find out what this world has in store for our main character after his simple decision to enter it.
Also, character design-wise? It's an action shonen intended for boys but meant to be enjoyed by women, if you catch my drift.
I give the first 3 an 8/10

My God! This story is a prime example of how luck can sway the entertainment industry. With the hype around Isekai anime being raised to the roof by entries like: Re:Zero, Overlord, Slime & Konosuba getting big returns for studios and investors, it seemed like a guaranteed success. But alas, when it finally aired, it did more harm than good, denting the genre's reputation irreparably.
As previously mentioned, back in the 2010s, we had gems like Re:Zero, Konosuba, Slime, Overlord, and even Ascendance of a Bookworm, each contributing to the rise of Isekai as the next big thing in the anime medium while this one
...
was kept getting ignored by every established studio, Literally. Then someone mistakenly decided to trust Reddit, Twitter and tumblr's opinion and get this one an anime deal causing a noticeable shift in audience interest in supporting isekai stories as fans. It marked the point where the well of good Isekai stories seemed to dry up, leaving behind mediocre tales like this one.
That's why It feels like the studios had to revive the big names like Konosuba, Slime, and Re:Zero AND AIRED THEM ALL IN the same FREAKING YEAR. LOL. The damage inflicted on the genre by stories like this made it necessary to remind viewers of: hey, remember this Isekai? The one you supported back then. We're bringing them ALL back in the same year lol. And its evident that they were missed since even on this site Konosuba is the most anticipated anime of spring 2024.
Anyways, let's dive into this disaster: The author attempts to pass off this narrative as an autobiographical journey, using it as an excuse to disregard proper storytelling conventions and leave loose ends dangling which by the end will be obvious.
So, what's it all about? Essentially, MT tries and fails to depict the redemption of a supposedly flawed character. But in reality, it feels like an overindulgent H-Novel catering to those with questionable tastes. The studio even had to go as far as to censor many aspects of the light novel, particularly the protagonist's disturbing fascination with young girls, turning it into a thin quirk and not full-on lust for them which in the LN he has.
The harem aspect is particularly troubling, with the protagonist essentially grooming his "treasured Pokemon starters" into romantic partners.
The journey he goes on? The incidents? The people he meets? Worthless tbh. This world is generic and hollow. It's all just there as filler to justify his questionable actions, and it doesn't work.
In short, I feel sorry for those who worked hard on this, it seems that they wanted this story to succeed since they were most likely tricked into thinking the story was this beautiful redemption story the internet talked about but when the reception came even the director ran for the hills. Heck, this anime has had 3 different directors work on it and its only has 2 seasons as i write this. How does that even happen? Well. Two of them understood that this story is not what the fans claim to be and left.
0/10
Also, Skip this one and give Frieren a watch instead, you will get pretty much more out of that series than this one which is just him watching the world around him let him off the hook for things that would get a man thrown in prison nowadays.

For those puzzled by the fervent praise surrounding this story, allow me to shed some light:
In recent memory, it feels as though we've been inundated with a relentless stream of cookie-cutter isekai fantasies, each one touted by fans as the pinnacle of the genre. Yet, in truth, many of these offerings lack substance, serving merely as shallow indulgences in wish-fulfillment.
So, why the acclaim for Frieren? Simply put, it defies the conventions of wish-fulfillment and power fantasy tropes that have saturated the fantasy market thanks to the non stop production and writing of isekais.
This is a traditional Fantasy story and our protagonist isn't whisked away
...
to a foreign land; rather, they hail from the world in which the story unfolds giving this story more depth right off the bat. They possess a history, relationships, and a genuine stake in this world and isn't eschewing the trope of the clueless outsider who stumbles into success with "NEET LOGIC" or similar contrivances.
Moreover, Frieren avoids the pitfall of info-dumping, refusing to spoon-feed the audience every detail about the world. Instead, it seamlessly integrates world-building into the narrative flow, allowing events to unfold organically.
For true aficionados of fantasy, this is cause for celebration—a return to the genre's roots, when stories possessed depth, meaning, and purpose. It's a refreshing departure from the tired refrain of "trust me, this isekai is different and original." Instead, we're treated to a genuine fantasy tale, one that explores its world through the eyes of characters who are native to it.
And so what is this story about in simple words?
The story revolves around Frieren, who embarks on a journey of self-discovery, realizing the fleeting nature of time and the importance of cherishing the moments shared with others. Along the way, she takes on an apprentice, offering us multiple perspectives through which to view the world's wonders.
Supported by adept direction and a poignant soundtrack, Frieren delivers a profound experience. While its animation may not break new ground, it serves its purpose admirably.
So, in a fantasy landscape oversaturated with lazy isekai offerings & power fantasies, Frieren shines as a true 10/10 gem that reminds us of fantasy's potential for depth and authenticity.
I hope I helped shed some light on to why Frieren is so highly rated and I hope studios take note that this is how fantasy should be used from now on.

If you're a fan of the MHA and appreciate its absurdity, then this OVA is likely to appeal to you. One aspect that the main series often overlooks, due to the editorial focus on prioritizing fights over world-building, is the opportunity for meaningful character interactions and moments where we simply follow the high school students in their daily lives. This OVA provides exactly that—a brief and enjoyable episodic story that allows the characters to goof off without the weight of intense stakes constantly looming over them.
Its a simple card game episode and a blatant parody of Yugioh. Potentially they want to see if they
...
can make a card game to sell? IDK if that was the objective but the episode is quiet enjoyable

Let's address the first point: yes, this film falls into the category of a generic superhero movie. However, amidst the current landscape where superhero narratives are being deconstructed and substituted with tales merely featuring superheroes, rather than embodying the essence of heroism, this film manages to distinguish itself more than ever. Remarkably, it has aged better than the heavily politicized content churned out by both DC and Marvel.
I would argue that what sets this film apart is its embrace of classic hero storytelling and its willingness to revel in the inherent absurdity of a world teeming with superpowered individuals and the societal shifts that accompany
...
such a reality.
The narrative centers on Izuku Midoria, who is in the midst of his journey to become a hero through training and study. The story of this film unfolds against the backdrop of an Expo visit, which serves as a pivotal moment revealing All Might's backstory while also charting Izuku's future trajectory.
In contrast to the current trends in Western superhero storytelling, this film feels like a breath of fresh air. Which is a wild thing to say but its the truth. Despite its humble origins, initially likened to a knock-off of X-Men, it now stands on its own merits.
Ultimately, if you're a genuine fan of superhero tales, this film is likely to resonate with you. However, if superhero narratives aren't your cup of tea, this film may not sway your opinion.
