When do you think One Piece will reach it's conclusion? I think it will around 2027 because that's the 30 year anniversary for the manga, and the 15 year mark was the halfway point. I use to HATE One Piece because it had a terrible dub by 4kids. It wasn't until later when I found out the series wasn't so bad. Have you seen the 4kids dub?
I wish I had ALOT of free time! Maybe one day I will make the full pirate journey! :D
I'm enjoying it so far...it kinda starts off like inuyasha and fushigi yugi. But it would be interesting once it becomes a war epic like everybody says.
I am also going to recommend The Ravages of Time. It bases itself heavily on war politics and strategy, which i think you like. Its a hong kong manwa (manhua?) based off the famous Chinese novel romance of the three kingdoms, which is considered by some to be the greatest Chinese novel ever written.
Are you talking about the Trust and betrayal OVA? Thats a prequel set before the main series. Its considered by many to be a masterpiece, however its best watched after you read the manga. It was told in the manga as a precursor to the "revenge" arc, which was never in the anime. Its not a good idea to watch it first because you're supposed to see kenshin as a goofy samurai, and later in the series when he tells his backstory its supposed to be shocking.
If you're talking about the Reflections OVA, Thats supposed to be the finale for the series. I wouldn't watch it because it has an anime only ending which was so bad that the mangaka says it isnt canon. But it has great animation and music so its a mixed bag.
Yeah, TheDeedsofMen gave it a low rating as well. I think it's a great short series, i didn't like the sequel banner of the stars as much but i loved banner of the stars 2. Also, the series had a bad dub, wasn't advertised well, never aired on American or European tv, before anime on the internet was the norm. It also looks kinda old even for something that came out in 1999. I mean, cowboy bebop came out a year before and that still looks good. I like it though. It has somewhat of a dreamy atmosphere, filled with wonder. The history may not be extremely deep, but i wonder about the Abh race, and where Lafiel will end up. Thats another thing. The story is till ongoing in the novels, but may never be animated :`(
I agree. Both sides of the war had great characters who deserved to succeed at what they're doing. Even though the empire had a slightly overall better cast and government, i still routed for the free planets alliance. Even though Reinhard is a terrific leader, once he dies, there isn't really anyone intelligent enough to take his place. Kircheis and Reuenthal are dead, and Reinhards son is just a baby, not raised by the kaiser himself.
I really sympathized with Yang more because he is a more down to earth person, and more relatable. He's smart, but doesn't try to become a ruler or famous. He admits democracy is corrupt, and if the nation falls, at least it will be of the peoples choosing. I think thats what separates him from reinhard or light or any other anime genius. He is an average guy in a big situation who "just got lucky". He really deserved a better ending...That and the FPA cast seemed more easy going. Less strict and more fun to be around! However the empire had more honor.
GTO is a fantastic anime but keep in mind it has a filler ending. The anime followed the manga up to vol.14 then went off on its own story. If you want an even funnier ending and events check out the manga!
Since you're a fan of logh, did you route for a side? Did you pledge your allegiance with sieg kaiser reinhard or protect the alliance bonnzai! There are good characters on both sides so i would understand if you couldn't choose...
The kenshin manga is LEAGUES ahead of the anime. Especially because the final arc was never animated, nether was the ending. (Reflections is NOT CANON)
I don't think watching the 1999 HxH right after 2011 is a good idea because they both have the same stories and it would seem repetitive. However maybe a few months down the road when you're itching for more HxH then sure! To me 1999 does everything better except for the tournament arc and the greed island arc which were done better in 2011. Killua and leorio have slightly different backstorys which i thought made the characters better developed. Gon acts more naive but this was made before the chimera ant arc so thats not really a problem. Kurapika looks even more like a girl in this version. He has breasts in some scenes. (This is later fixed sadly)
I do actually like FMA 2003 more than brotherhood. I don't want to be the guy who always says the old version is always better so don't get that idea. When it covers the same story material as the manga, it does it better than any of the other versions. You have to be a little patent because the first 13 episodes of brotherhood is equal to the first 25 from the original. When the story separates it becomes more bittersweet. More characters die, the homunculi are created differently, some homunculi are completely different characters, Dante is the villain not father, and the ending i thought was more interesting than the happily ever after ending brotherhood gave us.
Fma 2003 also focused more on the brotherhood than "brotherhood" actually does, but has less characters and a smaller world, so it feels less epic but more personal.

How far are you now? :)
I don't know if you have watched it yet, but if you haven't then check it out! It starts off slow, so stick with it.
