MDZS was a very enjoyable series overall.

Strong points of the series:
Good world building and setting, nuanced characters with interesting backstories, beautiful art style, good integration of the musical instrument bits, nice political tension between clans, coherent events through time, great voice acting in the original language and Japanese dub.

Weak points of the series:
Could have been slightly gayer, and the animation could have been better (there are also some 3D animation bits here and there which always breaks the immersion for me personally, on a positive note they weren't that bad compared to 3D scenes I've encountered in other animated series...)

"Oshi no Ko" (Anime) add

Very pleasantly surprised by this anime so far (7/11 episodes watched as of now). Almost lost me for a second at the reincarnation part, but it ended up being not nearly as cringe as I thought it would be. Oshi no Ko is very refreshing, dark, engaging, thrilling and deep. The main and side characters are great, well-written and exciting to watch. The pacing of this anime is fantastic, never a dull moment, no filler, just a really fun and captivating ride. Mixed Feelings
The Japanese voice acting is great, the art style is cute and overall everything is "good enough" to binge watch if you're bored. However there is nothing novel about this anime. The story, the soundtrack and the characters are all forgettable. It's not the kind of show that makes you want to read the manga after or even rewatch in the future. Nothing groundbreaking, nothing incredibly wholesome or heart fluttering, nothing dramatic, nothing hilarious. Horimiya is good but bland.
