Been a while since I made reviews but I think finishing this anime triggered something in me to write once more because wow... Masterpiece ! And that's real.
The Promised Neverland is definitely an anime that has probably been on a lot of people's radar for a long time, mine included, what always stopped me from watching was my lack of interest in seeing a lot of children do things, but boy oh boy, I gatekept myself from watching an amazing anime just because of my irrational preferences.

guides the viewer close and tells us bits and pieces without revealing everything away but it never deceives its audience either. It is the perfect balance of mystery, thrill yet wrapped in warmth.
This anime is definitely for those who enjoy a quick mystery that has great pacing and feels satisfying once you're done with it. It's just not pretentious and high-horse at all which makes it a treat because of just how approachable it is. Watch if you're down to unlock a mystery that will keep you at you heels !

Jujutsu Kaisen does deserve the attention and acclaim its getting. That's as much as I can say for the beginning of this review. I think that it definitely is stellar in some parts that really sells to a lot of audiences and i can see the hype well and fully.
first of all, music is so important to me and this was just great. the openings and endings were great, the eery music in some darker scenes contrasting to the rock music in fighting scenes. it was all really spectacular and added a lot of depth to what we were watching.
next, the hand to hand combat

and fighting choreographies were so spot on, beautiful and satisfying to watch. it makes for a fun viewing that is really enjoyable. I think that it pays attention to small details in the way that it can be extra dark and then very happy and funny and its so obvious that the creators love the characters so much. a lot of characters are incredibly well written and flashbacks to the past didn't feel forced... especially for the Kyoto kids imo.
It's a fun world and fun concept and it feels very modern in the way the jokes are and i see why its so appealing to a lot of new anime watchers. definitely a good starting shonen and a good demon anime overall.
but then there are the things that i didn't favor and let me just say ... theres quite a bit of it. first of all, itadori as a character baffles me. his motivations and his reasons to live or to die are questionable at its finest. perhaps he's kind of inhuman in that sense bc i don't see any realness in his character like i seriously see an empty shell that cracks jokes from time to time. i don't see the motivations in him the way other MCs do and that is a glaring ! issue !
more on that, this first season is not divided up nicely. like the story is messy and inconsistent. i swear like it just feels very disjointed and just not great and doesn't work towards a clear goal which is quite confusing to me. i mean the ending arc really just shows this problem as it is arguably the weakest and most random arc with new characters we don't care about. we could have gotten more of mahito and geto or something but we didn't and it just left the season with a really bland note.
also,, i want training scenes! i know gojo is not the typical teacher and doesn't really train his students in conventional methods or something but I want to see itadori struggle, i want to see him fail in front of his master, i want to see his progress and his failures, i want to see Something but we didn't get anything ! the only real training scene was the scenes with todo and that was so late in the game that it felt odd to have it then. I don't know but i'm old fashioned okay, i want to watch some training scenes ! and better explanations for powers and techniques please.
*SPOILERS GOING FORWARD*
the last thing that really bothered me has to be the yoshino + nanami arc because Hey what the fuck was that. i loved the yoshino arc so much, i think how they wrote this morally grey character was so perfect. i loved the way they built his really dark 90s anime style world and characters, i loved how his character is so innocent and confused and sad and human... I just loved yoshino so much. and then to kill him in such a way that disrespected his character and then turning his story into an anti-bullying campaign. WOW.
that was the moment i felt like i had it. i was done.
why would you create a character that had so much potential to become an antagonist or a supporting character, only to kill him when he had the form of a dinosaur and then reduce his story to something that didn't even impact the story as a whole. if we didn't get this yoshino + nanami arc then nothing would have changed anyway so WHY.
i mention nanami bc he has to be one of my favorite characters in the anime but then if he wasn't in this, not much wouldve changed and that's bad writing to me ! i swear like jjk is so good like its good but it suffers from these basic problems like story writing and inconsistencies that kill its potential.
anyway that's all, to summarize,, well its good and fun but didn't quite meet the expectations i have in mind when watching anime.

A breath of fresh air!
This anime, style wise, reminds me of those old disney animations that would somehow make it to disney and have really cool animation. they weren't exactly anime but it feels a little like it, if that makes any sense.
But anyway, I think this anime is gorgeous. Absolutely breathaking! Every shot is a masterpiece. Hands down like ,, the most stunning animation i've seen so far. I absolutely loved how the music interplays within this, it just feels so western and cool and easygoing. It doesn't feel like it's trying hard to be cool, it just is. I love that laid-backness

and that effortless feel about it.
Great Pretender does everything right, like it delivers this really layered and often times deep story. It has great emotional impact during crucial moments and it gives everyone their own arcs and their own past. I really loved the way the story unfolded and how it was a case by case arc made clear. I think it made the pacing feel more controlled because you knew that it was going to be one case at a time.
Though I think overall it was weighted down by the last case, something about it felt more dark and more inconsistent and just felt really slow but also rushed. But honestly it wasn't at all a big problem and nothing that seriously jeopardized the whole show. The last case was the one that was the most vital for Edamura and Laurent so I'm happy with its execution.
I definitely recommend this anime for those who are just starting anime and want to watch something easier to take in and takes a lot of references and jokes from the western world. But I also recommend this heavily to anime watchers who want to watch something out of their comfort zone. I just think it's very unique and leaves a lot of impressions and is SUCH a fun time. seriously a really exciting anime and I'm really happy to have watched it.

Pretty equal if not a teensy bit better than the first season, just a culmination of all the sweat and tears of the gang and a finale that was just stunning really.
This season in my opinion was better than the first due to a few reasons, I think that the character of Akira Dojima was just beautiful. I think that her character is so intriguing, it's so worth the time to explore further, it really propelled the group to be better and it was really the main reason this series got better and better.
I also liked that we got a bit more Koto this time

round, especially about learning the basics of Koto. I feel like this series really underplays just how difficult playing music is, and knowing that most of them are newbies, it's pretty unrealistic for them to be as good as they are. So I really enjoyed the basic training and also just the exposure of dedication that one must have to play such an instrument.
The conflict here was more heated with Dojima, but I enjoyed the romance related dilemmas the two girls were having. I thought it was really funny and amusing and I liked seeing their vulnerabilities because Kurusu and Hozuki are such strong characters. Especially with Kurusu, I really felt her development since season 1 and I grew to really like her character and really root for her.
Sane was explored a little bit more here but Mitssu is still left in the dust! I really don't know why they did this because I think Mitssu could have been given some funny alternate plot or some conflict with Takezo. So I'm a little annoyed about that because he's now the only character without a real story, or even a perspective.
I also thought that it was rather annoying to pile the performances from other schools and theirs per-episode. I think throughout the story we could have gone to each school to see their struggles and their progress rather than giving them a full episode filled with flashbacks + the performance. I mean, we already met them in the first season so I feel like they earned some portion of the story before the finale. So, it definitely felt more choppy this time round.
Still, it was pretty equal to the first and that's a hard feat. The ending was extremely satisfying as well and I loved the piece they played! Definitely an anime that you would miss watching just because of how light and grounded it was. If you liked the first season, then you're bound to enjoy the second !

Kono Oto Tomare was pretty good... not too shabby indeed. It was a very youthful and hopeful melodrama that explored the themes of friendship within music. It's learning to work together and to create something beautiful, it's about hard work and it's about their drive to become better versions of themselves.
I think this anime could establish their characters very quickly and very well, characters like Chika and Hozuki were so well defined right away and we can instantly see their growth, their development and their vulnerabilities. them in an interesting way, without it being rushed and sloppy.
The pacing was again, pretty good. It ended with a finale that felt satisfying but it also encapsulated enough that it was pretty solid as a whole. The conflicts were introduced and solved well, and never felt like it was waiting for the other to finish, before moving on to the next one. Good plot pacing for sure.
Design wise, I'm not a fan of the art because it felt incredibly pastel and lifeless to me. I just didn't like the color palette and although this is pretty nitpicky, I still think that the somber colors held this anime back from looking more gorgeous. Some scenes, the characters were drawn oddly, I think that there's just some inconsistencies with the way they were drawn.
For an anime about Koto, it literally has little to none though. Like I wish they were brave and bold enough to have all of the background music be Koto, but it was still very piano-centric which i felt was very odd. I think it would have been more spectacular if everything was led by Koto, so that the viewers really sense of what good Koto music is like and how it can make scenes happy or sad.
Still, I think they handled this anime pretty well. There was a good enough balance between comedic-ish scenes and also very sad scenes. I think the trio, Kota, Mitssu and Sane was definitely kept to the side in this (Kota was the one explored most here) but I think giving them so much background on top of the already big and developing characters would be a little much so I didn't mind their supporting arcs.
To conclude, it was a pretty fun time. I think if you like musical animes and want to watch something not as depressing as Your Lie In April, this is definitely for you. It is much lighter and easier to watch but pretty good in terms of execution.

The Demon Slayer Movie: Mugen Train was honestly even better than I could ever expect. It's so fun, it's so unbelievably fresh, it's thrilling and exciting, it was a good movie.
*SPOILER WARNING*
The way Enmu's demon art power was the ability to hypnotize and send everyone to sleep was just fascinating. I absolutely enjoyed that this dreamy, psychological battle story was introduced and it really took me out of nowhere. I thought it was a really smart way to instantly elevate a more jokey, fight-packed, fun anime and make it more serious. LIKE.. the way we travelled into our main character's fantasies and memories was

just beautiful, mind you.
The battle scenes here. WOW. not only is it a feast for the eyes and even more detailed, gorgeous and fast-paced but the music that carried the scenes really packed a punch. The ensembles just felt more powerful and even more elegant than before. I'm really happy with how they did the final fight scene between Rengoku and Akaza. So fun !
Some things that I didn't like was that this movie continues straight after season 1, and yes it is a proper continuation. But even if, I feel like movies should work as a standalone because it is first and foremost A MOVIE. it should at least feel somewhat contemporary and can be enjoyed by people who have not watched the anime show, and so this was just ... lacking in that respect.
I just think that this movie could not be watched or understood if you didn't have prior knowledge of what happened in the series and nor did this movie actually impact any of the characters significantly. After this movie will be the new season and apart from the very BIG thing that happened within it, the main and side characters didn't really develop at all. And it was 2 hours long,, like okay pacing issues.
Anyway though, I liked the plot line of this movie and I enjoyed the direction they took it to. I think the animation in the anime was already stunning but this brought it to another level. Seriously so much respect for this series, and I don't care if people say its being milked out because ITS GOOD. AND THEY'RE DOING IT WELL. so what??? to conclude, this movie was really good and served as a good continuation to the anime, so if you enjoyed that, then you will probably like this as well.

ADORABLE.
My Love Story is a pick-me-up, it's a feelgood, it's wholesome, it's heartwarming and it's just the perfect anime to watch for those days where you're just tired and you just want to watch something sweet and easy and adorable. i absolutely loved, adored and will cherish this anime forever because it's a special one.
the characters: takeo, sunakawa and yamato are just beautiful characters, their interactions, their personalities, just the greatest. I don't know I think they're very nicely defined characters that are well created and develop in their own pace throughout the story even if not drastically. Overall characterisations between the three are

good.
plot-to-plot like okay. There were some plots i absolutely adored like the episodes about Sunakawa's dad and family situation and the Oda plot were standouts to me that were very well done. One explored a darker and sadder side of family, yet also friendship between Suna and Takeo which I enjoyed. The latter was hilarious and depicted a very chain-linked unrequited love that wasn't forced.
*spoiler warning*
i loved how Suna didn't end up with a girl like we thought he would because of how happy-happy everything was. I really appreciate that Suna was unapologetically himself and is comfortable being alone and isn't so easy at developing feelings for other people because that reality is so real for many and I think it was very important to depict that.
Anyway, this anime is surprisingly deep and is executed very well, although pacing wise is meh, its a 24 episode that maybe could have been shorter with less plots, but I think it's made to be a very enjoyable and slow slice of life. Enjoy the little things folks, enjoy takeo and yamato's romance!

Sonny Boy is a hard anime to review upon because it's hard to pinpoint what was good and what was bad about it, to me it was all about my gut feeling.
I liked it. I really did. It was out of this world bonkers, beautiful animation, innovative, creative, seriously artistic and feels like a piece of art. When I imagine the impossible possibilities of anime, Sonny Boy is what comes to mind, it's like being doused in a big cauldron and getting lost in the waves. Spectacular.
But, there's a but. I didn't feel very much. and that's the thing. Feeling is a big thing for

me when watching things, I mean sure things can be cool and very unique but if it fails to make me feel anything that's when things don't look too great. And perhaps feelings, empathy, excitement isn't the main point of this show, maybe it's to keep us curious or confused or a bit of both but I wish it made me want to root for the characters, I wish it made me want to cry, and it didn't.
The problem lies in these characters that feel like empty shells, although they are such a reflection of what we are like as human beings... these pessimistic and boring individuals, some with pain and others with unexplained virtues, but in the end there were no reasons for me to really like or really hate any of them which i can't stand.
Pacing wise was pretty awful, there were some standout plots like the Yamabiko plot with Kodama, that was exquisite and I think my favorite episode of all time. Other than the first episode and maybe the Ant Farm episode, the others seem to fall short as well, so I don't know,, it felt inconsistent and very dragged out. Perhaps it's also because I watched a few episodes at a time but yeah.
What I loved though was the insane concept and the ability to make this world a reality, every episode feels like a fever dream that isn't real and it's quite amazing to be able to create something of that sensation. I definitely think Sonny Boy isn't for everybody, but if it's for you, you will definitely take something out of it.

My first 'real' shonen action anime so I may be biased and clueless to what my expectations are and how much i liked it but I really loved Demon Slayer. I think there were so much aspects that I fell in love with and with that, I'll dive to each point.
I absolutely adore the art style, I think even if art style is more of a bonus and not the most important part of an anime: this was so worth noting! the colors are so beautiful, the detail that went to each characters' patterns, colors and clothes were just wonderful. there was so much attention

put into the little things and I appreciated it.
Music was nice, they were either very japanese classical instruments or big ensembles and I loveddd how they turned out. It really gave an authentic ambiance to the time period and the setting so i think it was very well incorporated.
The MC !! I love tanjiro. like I love him... I think that his character was so sincerely made and I love following him around, it's great that he's a strong main character. as for the other characters, I feel like they lacked any form of development overall which was a big downside, there were so many and we got to see a lot of pasts and stuff but development wise is pretty miniscule.
Pacing was also very off at times, like we have fights stretched out to 2-3 episodes and for what?? i guess it's okay because I binged it together but overall it makes for a very choppy and inconsistent watching experience and definitely bothered me sometimes.
I think the comedy aspects were also very off-balanced. about 12 episodes or so were very serious and solemn but zenitsu and inosuke came and everything turned to a comedic, buddy-cop out of nowhere which was very off-putting at times. I know I'm not the only one who gets annoyed easily at zenitsu so i'm not even gonna go there but yeah,, i think it was weird to be very funny towards the very end.
But then,, there were the fight scenes. and wow. I am in love. they were animated to such perfection and especially the biggest showdown in episode 20 was just excellent. I think there were a lot of really cool moments like that which really brought the show to a different level and I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Erased was a lot... it was heavy, dark at times, extremely painful to watch and really keeps you at the edge of your seat. I think watching this was definitely such a ride, like you really don't know what's gonna happen to any of these characters and you are so terrified because you like them and you want the best for all of them.
I think the story clearly wins, and especially the way it was directed and paced was spot on. It never feels like it was dragging things, or rushing things, it all happened in a similar tone and i liked that. It was

a 12 episode but everything was compacted in such a neat way that it feels weighted and every episode was relevant to the story.
Definitely heartwarming and just tugs at the heartstrings, it's so touching at moments and makes me so sad and wistful. Emotionally hit the right notes but didn't overdo the drama and the sad stuff, still had a lot of serious moments which i liked. Also discusses quite a bit of darker themes which was brave.
Even though Satoru is this quiet and bored character, he continues to develop in ways I didn't expect and i really rooted for his character. It was really refreshing to see this kind of character break the tropes i guess and I loved the voice acting so much, i thought his voice was really really nice to listen to and it's a shame he doesn't have many more roles.
Oh and I'm also very fickle and picky about the use of time in media like I'm quite critical to how it plays out because some I like and some I really despise but I think the use of time in this was quite well done and gives a bittersweet ending to a spectacular story. I recommend this series for people who want to experience something pretty short yet will drive you crazy ! good stuff.
