---8/2/13 Hi everyone! Please excuse me if I don't reply to your messages, but I'm very busy with school these days. I'll be back as soon as possible!---
Hi there! Nice to see that you've stumbled on my profile. I'm Kaire, (almost) 17, from Italy.
As you can see, I'm mostly a shoujo fan. Since watching/reading anime and manga takes up time (and money :P) I'm quite picky when it comes to choosing a show. I appreciate deep stories, but I'm also fond of positive characters, those who never give up and are always cheerful, like Kotoko Aihara from Itazura na Kiss and Ohana Matsumae from Hanasaku Iroha - I could learn one or two things from them! :P
I'm also a big fan of gaming, and jRPGs in particular: my favorites include Dragon Quest V, Final Fantasy IX and The World Ends with You - yes, I suppose you could describe me as a Square-Enix fangirl!
Please forgive me if I make some mistakes, but English isn't my first language. I'll be more than happy to get corrections from native speakers! ;)

I'm not a native English speaker either, but I have to say that your English is pretty well. I've lived in the US longer than I have my own country, haha. It's nice to see someone else that likes the same types of anime. (:

As usual, I'm also sorry for replying late :p (I think every conversation we have is going to start with this xD)
How have you been ? I hope you had an excellent new year's eve ! Mine was great, I was with a group of 40 people & friends we had a lot of fun ^^
Congratulations on getting Tales of Graces F, it's wonderful !!! It's funny that you mentioned that because guess what I got just yesterday ? TWEWY !! My friend found a second-hand copy in a store so I went there to buy it ^^ So I'll probably be playing it soon ;) (although I have tons of games to play at the moment, so I'm not sure when ^^")
So, did you go any further in Tales of Graces F ? Are you enjoying the game so far ? You'll see that the story is AWESOME, and the characters are great. (I also prefer them in their adult version ^^) I really like all of them : Asbel, Hubert, Cheria <3 Malik, Sophie... There's not one single character I hate !
About Otoyomegatari, I decided that I would only buy and read the printed volumes (and not on internet) because the drawings are really beautiful, so since there are 4 volumes that came out in France I'm up to 18 chapters exactly like you, when the two twin sisters are about to have their wedding ^^ (unless you read more within the 10 days where I didn't reply xD)

You're welcome! To be perfectly honest, I did not discover her works until a couple of months ago upon re-watching Toward the Terra and realising that I really want to read/watch some older series that are aimed primarily at a female audience. So you could say that I'm a newly found devotee of hers just like you. Yes, unfortunately her works seem to be overlooked. Luckily, a few are actually available in book form and I really hope to get an English copy of Thomas no Shinzou or A Drunken Dream. I take it you like Takemiya's works as well?

Hullo! You're right, actually. This little piece definitely belongs to Hagio's hand. As far as my knowledge goes, it's the main character from her work Star Red. Personally, I have yet to read the manga (it's not translated into any language that I could understand). I'm sure it's a superb work, seeing how its author is such a fine master of both the pen and words :)

Yes, the hats of the fairy chimneys can roll away with the wind over time =) (we're speaking hundreds of years here) but then it usually forms other fairy chimneys because other pillars appear with erosion in the valleys ! So there are "young" fairy chimneys, and the old ones who are about to lose their hat ! ^^
I also hope you'll be able to visit Cappadocia one day and see them too ! You really should =)
Being a guide is tiring sometimes, but I love explaining the culture of my country to people so it's mostly a huge pleasure !!
Oh don't worry I'm also the lazy type ^^" I actually do horse riding only during the summer in Cappadocia. I'm also an equestrian guide :p I already went on a 7 day horse tour, it's amazing ^^
Wow, that festival in Orange sounds like fun ^^I've never been to Grenoble !! nice view ^^
I'm still loving Otoymegatari so far, I'm up to 10 chapters =)

Actually, I'm not surprised by the fact that you live in Italy but you haven't visited a lot of places, it's the same for everyone ;) I live in France but I haven't visited most of it ^^" The same goes for Paris, usually I discover what a great city I'm living in only when I'm guiding around some of my friends or family from Turkey or Australia :D
I'll definitely have to go to Napoli on my next trip to Italy !!! That's a nice saying about your city ^^ (although I think I also heard something similar for another one but I don't remember where xD)
The places you've been to in France are gorgeous !! I love Avignon, and also Orange is a very beautiful place !! I've been to both of them once, and it's funny that you mention Orange because NONE of my Parisian friends know about that place, it's not very well known ^^"
You love cycling ? Nice !! I do some cycling in Turkey too occasionally, but I'm more of a horse rider ^^
EDIT : Btw, I've put Otoyomegatari in my favorite manga and I've given it a score of 10 ^^ I've rarely seen such well-drawn pictures, and the setting.... it's simply amazing. It really reminds me of the lifestyle of some people in my natal village, it makes me feel all nostalgic ^^"

It's funny because "La Maison du Kilim" is one of our biggest rival companies :D I work for another one ^^
Yeah, kilims are amazingly beautiful !! There is a humongous variety of colors and patterns... even I learn some everyday xD
Ah-ha !! Good question my Italian friend ;D (about the rocks)
They're called Fairy Chimneys !! They are wonders of geology that mother Nature has modeled with her own hands ;)
Basically, they're like stone pillars with a hat, and they exist in a lot of different different shapes. Usually the hat is made of a hard volcanic rock like basalt, and the body is made of a softer material that is friable (it crumbles when you touch it), mostly tuff (which is basically cold hardened volcanic ash). Actually the hats were rocks that were expulsed when volcanoes erupted millions of years ago, and then they landed on layers of dust and ash. And as time passes, natural erosion with wind and water has carved the stone pillars, and that gives us those magnificent landscapes we can see today !! Also the chemical composition of the rocks can be very variable, so we get valleys that are white like the moon (very beautiful at night), others that are yellow, red, pink... It's very beautiful !!
As to why they're called fairy chimneys, I'm not 100% sure but I think that it's because of a legend that says that fairies inhabited those stone pillars and at night they came out to dance xD
Actually to tell you the whole truth, I'm an assistant touristic guide in Cappadocia during the summer, so I'm used to explaining all this stuff to people ;D And on that picture that you linked with the view of Cappadocia, in the back we see a valley called the Rose Valley (because it has pink fairy chimneys) and I know it by heart !! I've walked with tourists millions of times in what we see in the picture xD (also, the village in the front is called Zelve, it's a very beautiful little village)
About the pronounciation of "Hattusa", I think you have to stress the first "A" ^^ the "u" is said rapidly.
Now you're gonna think I'm crazy : you know what happened when you showed me Otoyomegatari ? I FELL IN LOVE with the cover of the manga on MAL !! It's so beautiful !! And that image you linked O_O Awesome !! You know, my great grand-mother used to do weavings too...
Fun story : right next the kilim shop where I work, there's a manga cafe (a place where you can sit and read mangas, or buy them) and after reading your message I rushed there and bought the three first volumes in French (it's called "Bride Stories" here) !! xDDDD And I started reading the first one on my way back from work in the metro ^^ I LOVE IT !!! It's an amazing manga, thank you so much for recommending it !!
I'll continue this message in a second reply because I'm starting to get worried by its length >_<"

Correct !! I sell tappeti, I'm a carpet seller in Paris :D More precisely, I sell Anatolian kilims ! Actually, I'm half-Turkish, from a region in the center called Cappadocia. (I go there every summer)
And actually the reason why I'm so interested in this manga, if I'm guessing correctly, is because the title of the manga refers to a river that really exists called Kızılırmak (which means exactly "red river" in Turkish) ! It's the longest river in Turkey, and it played a very important role in Anatolia (both for commerce and wealth), especially during the Hittite empire !! And guess what ? The Red River passes right through my natal village !! I walk by the banks of the real Red River every summer :D I even did kayak on the Red river several times ^^
So now you understand why this manga appeals to me so much, because it looks like it's close to my cultural heritage !! I really have to read it :D I've always liked mangas with an accurate historical background anyway, but I might even recognize some places in this one ^^ (I have already been to Hattusa, the ancient capital of the Hittite Empire !! Today it's a small village called Boğazköy)
Anyway, enough talking about my background xD You convinced me to watch Porco Rosso !! Especially since I love Italian landscapes, so I'm sure I'll enjoy the film ^^ And it's blasphemy for me to miss on a Miyazaki film since they're my favorites, especially Spirited Away (Chihiro) that I have watched like ten times xD
By the way did I tell you that I have already visited your country a lot ? (three times to be precise, during car trips from Paris to Istanbul) I have been to the most touristic cities like Venice (twice), Florence, Turino, Milan, Roma, but also Toscano (Siena), Pompeii, and my personal favorites : the Amalfitana coastline (Amalfi and Ravello), and Matera (which looks a lot like my natal village !!). I LOVE your country, it has the most beautiful landscapes in Europe :D Unfortunately, the only major Italian city I haven't visited is Napoli, which is the one where you live if I'm not mistaken ? *Ahem* sorry for talking about my trips, I love travelling a bit too much xD
