Akashic Records of Bastard Magical Instructor, was a mediocre at best anime, using commonly used tropes and setting to make another anime of something we've already seen before.
The story/plot premise of this series, was at best all over the place. The first 3 introductory episodes weren't very good to an enjoyment level, the first episode was a bit cringe worthy, and unfortunately doesn't really establish anything but set up the tropes and show you how the harem starts.

later in the series, and the whole show revolves around him and his "class" but more like 3 girls, Sistine, Re:L, and Rumia.
The reason I say "class" is because throughout the show the class in generally doesn't really matter at all besides certain students. The class is more of a "support when needed for Glenn" and not a "fundamental" part of the show.
One thing that I hated about this show story/plot wise lies with the Title and nonstop hearing of "AKASHIC RECORDS" its in the TITLE, and literally said god knows how many times in the show, but never gives a single thought or minute as to explaining what even IS the Akashic Records. Instead the whole plot revolves around rescuing Rumia and other girls the entire series like you're a knight saving the princess from the tallest tower trope in fairy tales.
The story side I rate a 5 because the Akashic Records which is never talked about once in the whole story, and constant use of repetitive tropes, and cliched bullshit throughout the show made it very very boring, and on the contrary it being rushed to all hell is very nice also.
Character wise I've already gone into for the most part, and the characters around Glenn are all just... bland. They're really really boring. We have typical tsundere Sistine, typical loli Re:L, and your basic anime girl Rumia.
Something I also don't understand though as an Academy why is it never seem frowned upon the entire series that there are students constantly trying to get with Glenn? I fail to understand that as we clearly see other teachers/faculty see how the relationship is etc. I mean, there should be a boundary usually, however that is obviously not the case in this show.
On the contrary the enemies/villains in Akashic Records are even worse, not only do they all do the same stupid idea: LETS GO CAPTURE -insert whoever here- for their magic power, its done so almost Team Rocket like where there's never any success rate. The funny part is the amount of stupidity into some of the things that happen in the series. Not recommending this, but go rewatch some of the episodes Glenn uses the fools world and realize the laws of the card get broken whenever they need to keep the sequence going to work out how the author wants it to, and not "what actually makes logical sense."
Art wise, you can kinda tell by how they dress all the female students like they're complete skanks, and the males all have the typical uniform seen in any other LN adapted magic/school/fantasy harem series dresses, so the art really isn't anything you haven't seen, and the animation also wasn't really different compared to anything else.
The sound from the anime besides the OP was just meh. I actually really do like the opening theme for Akashic Records, but the voice actors do at least fit their respected character for the most part, but most of the time when something serious/emotional was happening it was poor.
My overall enjoyment of this series was weird, it started off like "wow this looks like its gonna be complete garbage." to "eh, maybe this can make a comeback?" and then back to "man this wasn't anything I haven't seen already." by episode 12. I give it a 6 being fair because honestly as a harem anime standpoint it really isn't that bad, but it isn't amazing either.
Overall, I'd say if you like harem series and never get sick of them, go ahead and watch this show. Its a show where you kinda just shut your brain off to enjoy. I personally didn't really like the show due to the fact that it breaks its own rules, pretty bad cast overall, and just the fact the most important parts of the actual show were never talked about in the slightest. I would really only recommend watching this if you want to kill time, or just really really like harems. I rate it a 7 overall, its not like its bad, or mediocre, I'd say its good for the most part for a harem genre show, which I generally rate it as just good or poor as is lol.

Is there really a NEED to go into a long review of this series? I mean really, is it worth the frustration? Yes, because this series was a CHORE to watch every week with my "if you start it, you finish it" mentality I have.
Eromanga-sensei was by far the ABSOLUTE worst series I have seen anime wise in quite sometime. I mean, horrendously bad, to the point where I wanted to just throw my PC out the window because of the absolute cringe-worthy material it brought to the drafting table.
Eromanga-sensei is the story about a little step sister named Sagiri Izumi who meets Masamune Izumi

and basically they develop a thing for each other and you see loli-panties every episode. Simple as that, there is really nothing more at all. Oh wait, they also write Light Novels, but that was completely irrelevant due to the fact it was just a way to develop feelings for the 2 siblings.
The setup for Eromanga basically used the same shit the author of Oreimo and wait for it.... HOLY SHIT BOTH OREIMO AND EROMANGA-SENSEI HAVE THE SAME F****** AUTHOR! if you didn't know this by now and didnt read all the higher rated reviews above this one, well now you know.
All Eromanga is, is a revenge like series for the author to finally get his sister fetish some solidification, if you saw the ending of Oreimo, and were disappointed like the author of it was, he wanted to prove that you can date your sister, however all he proves is that they still don't tolerate this incestual shit from oreimo so instead he makes it step sister so now its okay.
The characters in Eromanga sensei are literally garbage, for example dick-girl or whoever the hell was that preppy retarded kid who was trying to get Sagiri to go to school, was a complete wasted character had absolutely no need, Bookkeeper girl, only sold books and went otaku nerd rage that was it, completely useless, Elf the hands down best girl was made irrelevant after her whole episode about herself, and Muramasa or whatever the stupid author is who just wants Masamune to keep writing because she rips him off and sells more then he does and makes him get called a copycat artist only the fact she is the copycat artist, is also fucking useless. Reaction-kun was also useless and had no purpose in the story besides showing his mini pc. Sagiris mom was shown quite a bit throughout this show and I always wondered why instead of making her daughter go to fucking school she decided to teach her how to draw NSFW shit and not have her daughter have an education, and Izumis dad was actually ok and seemed responsible, wish it went in depth with how they came to be a thing but unfortunately never happened.
if you really cant understand how bad the characters are by the fact i dont remember half their names, and after watching all 12 episodes, I think it shows the proof of how shit of a job it was.
The art was okay style wise but the animation was shit and they had the worst stills i've ever seen and the most fanservice shots that could make me seem like a guy into little 12 year old girls.
the enjoyment was overall at a 1 due to absolute cringe-content that was on display every episode and how none of the characters improved at all, and wasted my time for 24 minutes every Saturday.
Overall this series is terrible and not worth the watch. Oreimo was at LEAST dealable, where as this is pure trash that shouldn't even be a thing.

Koe no Katachi or "A Silent Voice" is one of my favorite mangas I've read, and I was glad to hear that it was getting a movie adaption, although I would have preferred an anime, I was still content with the fact it was indeed getting at least some form of animation, however my opinion changed after watching this movie a bit.

not enjoy it as much as I could have.
Major differences include censoring, one thing that comes to mind is some of the bullying to Nishimiya in the actual movie was nowhere near as harsh as it was in the manga. The movie was a bit more clean oriented about it I think because its already a very controversial movie to begin with.
Also assuming because the movie is only around 2 hours long, a lot of the main details that help the characters and story progress was cut, and I would really encourage people who have only seen the movie to read the manga itself due to the fact that so much was left out and the movie doesn't shine enough light on what the bigger picture is at some points with the characters themselves.
The ending from the manga and the movie are also entirely different.
So for a quick summary now of the story, Nishimiya is a deaf girl who gets bullied by her elementary school class, and particularly by a kid named Ishida. Ishida unfortunately has to take the blame for the whole classes constant bullying towards Nishimiya. Nishimiyas bullying worsens and in turn Nishimiya transfers schools. Ishida was also the victim of frequent bullying after the fallout, and the story starts when Ishida is planning to kill himself only to decide to change and become a better person, and to help give Nishimiya the childhood he took from her.
The story in this movie was rushed due to time crunch of 2 hours, the manga was 64 chapters and had a lot of detail, its nearly impossible as I said earlier to fit all key elements into making this a solid movie, however, Kyoto Animation very much surprised me because they did do a fairly decent job at altering it enough to an enjoyable standpoint.
My problem lies solely in the fact of the story is more about maturing, and learning from past mistakes and using that to make things better, however the movie doesn't get a lot of the things that happen to the other characters and prioritized Ishida and Nishimiya. Which in movie form is NOT wrong, however by bringing a huge group into the mix with their fair share of problems, it leaves a very dissatisfying taste in my mouth seeing a random asspull of a change at the end of the movie.
The Art and Sound is absolutely amazing, that is the one thing Kyoto Animation absolutely never fails to give. I don't think anything that I've seen for the most part from Kyoto Animation has had bad art or sound. The opening song for the movie was very fitting, the voice actors did a fantastic job for their respective characters and the art fits nearly almost all of the scenes that it does. I will say though that some scenes I felt were almost repetitive and the movie could have used some of the time for something else, particularly some of Ishidas biking lol.
My enjoyment for the movie was good, because as a movie standpoint its not bad, and I think if I never saw/read the actual manga before watching the adaption I'd be rating it high 9's like most others here on MAL.
Overall, I think this movie is definitely worth the watch, and I think you should definitely try the manga if you haven't done so already, and I would urge you to read the manga prior to watching the actual adaption itself.

Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata flat or How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend -flat, whatever you want to call it, was in my own opinion a good season gone downhill.

of my problems with this show start around the episode 9 mark.
In the beginning half of the show they're continuing their game and trying to prep it for the Winter Comiket, and after episode 9-11 it makes all of this effort go to absolute waste. The last few episodes legitimately make all the episodes prior meaningless.
I'll try not to spoil too much, but lets get into why I rated this the way I did, with story at a 6. My problem especially with this show is the 1st season did a very good job leading up to a second season and the second season started off very well, I don't usually enjoy harem/comedies that much but I did until the HUGE 180.
In the least spoiler way possible that I can make this, the episode 9-11 mark makes all of the prior character problems, drama, comiket, 1st season and up to this point completely useless because of the dense characters known as Eriri and Utaha quitting the Doujin team after making a fairly successful game.
I wont go into details with the main reason they quit the Doujin team because thats going way to much into it, but I'll explain my biggest concerns with it since I'll be rating the characters and it basically links it up well.
For starters, the main character, Tomoya, I think gets wayyyyyyyy too much bullshit then he deserves, especially with Eriri and Utaha. There was one situation with Kato that completely made sense and was probably the only thing productive from the 2nd season. Tomoya gets ripped on his ability to perform as a Producer throughout this season and gets so much unneeded bullshit that its insane, they act like the 1st time game producer who hasn't made one game before is some sort of almighty god and because he makes one mistake it hinders the whole team, when it was only really the other characters making bullshit excuses for themselves throughout the show, Kato was the only character with definitive reason to have given him bullshit.
Eriri, had a LOT of spotlight in this season compared to the likes of Utaha, and I actually am quite pissed that they gave Eriri so much screentime after the stunt she pulls in episode 9 along with Utaha, they could have given more screen time for the cousin or Tomoya and Kato than make a whole melodrama episode bunch for Eriri who basically makes the whole dramatic episodes useless. Eriri had a "slump" for most of this season, and the person who honestly got her out of the "slump" Tomoya, inevitably gets to be blamed for the slump because she hasn't changed as a character and continuously makes herself look stupid because she never breaks out of her shell of blaming Tomoya or using Tomoya for some stupid fucking reason.
Utaha, had a little less screen time, but it still was enough to make her character worse then it already was. I think Utaha was my 2nd favorite character at the start and shoved her way down. She inevitably gets her screen time helping Tomoya with doujin stuff or the last bit of drama scenes where just like Eriri, pin the blame on Tomoya and act like he's a shitty director/producer even though that was his first time making a visual novel/gal game. Cut the kid some slack, it was successful, and theres no reason to act like hes limiting you when its you limiting yourself, and that hasn't changed at all since the start of the series.
Some other minor characters, like Iori, actually were better then the main characters themselves. While as depressing as it sounds, yes, the supporting cast in this show outside of the characters from Blessing Garden did more in this season then the last. Tomoya and Kato all and all were fine characters the entire season and inevitably learned from their mistakes, Iori actually helped with a lot of the issues in this series to help build plot and other characters were used as well, while the main cast either did nothing but stall more bullshit or add fanservice.
My characters I rate a 5 because this was one of the shows I was looking forward to this season and I inevitably was let down tremendously by the way things were handled. When only 1 main character actually goes through change and the side characters did more visible change then the main cast, it makes absolutely no reason for it not to be anything BUT mediocre.
The Art and Sound as always I think was pretty good. I liked the art of most scenes and the sound quality from voice actors was I think a plus. The OP kinda sucks and I skipped through most of it, however the emotion could be felt in this series and I like that.
My enjoyment level overall was good, I enjoyed the season, I might be a bit harsher then other people watching, and be expecting more from a harem trope series as is, but I felt something different then most other harem series with the creative aspect and most of my problems lie with how the creative side in this show gets entirely fucking ruined by the last 3 episodes and with one of the worst endings I've seen.
Overall, if you watched the first season of How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend, by all means watch this season. I think most people would probably enjoy this season as is, and I would have too if not what I've said a shitload already, how they make the whole series for the most part irrelevant by the end. I think if the show gets another season or I randomly find the LNs and read them and get more clarification on this, my opinion could change, but as a way to end a season its either good or bad or potentially both.
I hope this review isn't too long, but I hope its helpful and doesn't spoil most of the actual problems in the season. I might just be a nitpicker but this definitely was not my cup of tea.

Never ever have I enjoyed a slice of life comedy series then Barakamon, nor have I ever genuinely laughed to an anime because of it being so relatable. Barakamon even proves that to enjoy an anime you don't need to do the normie bullshit that every other series out there does.
Barakamon is about the story of, Handa Sei, who is a calligrapher and ends up going to a island in the middle of nowhere after punching the Art Gallery director because of Handa's style being textbook, and once he gets there things change for the best for him, and those around him.

of the best things about this show. The character designs are great, the characters all fit the theme of the environment to the show, and even when other characters from when Handa was in Tokyo to visit, even had a realistic element to the country, as it was something it was not used to, and the art depicted the emotions, actions, and the environment to a degree that it almost felt like you were with them in the story, living it yourself.
The sound I would say is great basically for the same reason as the art, like seriously, you CAN'T beat how well the voice actors did on this show. It was awesome. Even the little kids in the show, that Handa ends up taking care of all the time has a perfect voice that just isn't even hateable, and most Slice of Life Comedy series end up making me hate those characters. The opening and ending are also very good in this series and you can't help but get into the show after it.
The characters in Barakamon are wonderful. I mean, I've never ever had a series where I can literally no matter what, not dislike a cast of the show. It was just crazy to me, all the characters are lovable, even though they all do have their own share of problems, the people around them all pitched in and a lot of the characters had their own backstory that was even introduced in the anime and wasn't even dragged on for too long, it got to the point, at the right time, and was very enjoyable and was touching for the instances it was brought. It wasn't just poof a dumb problem arises and you need to know about what happened to them, it was realistic events bringing about ways that most people would figure stuff out. The community in the show is more like any other as well.
My overall enjoyment level of this series was literally binge watching and wondering why the hell there isn't anymore episodes and I need more now type enjoyment level, I was that enjoyed while watching Barakamon. It had the laughs, it had the ups and downs, it had the growth and development, and it was really all I could ever ask for in a Slice of Life, let alone anime in general.
Overall, Barakmon is a MUST WATCH in my opinion to people who like the genre and anime in general. Its a nice change of pace and a show that generally anyone can get into. My friend HATES anime but couldn't stop watching Barakmon with me. If you're even reading to this point on if you should watch the series, just go ahead and do it now, because seriously, don't miss out on this Slice of Life that can set the stone for others of the same genre.

Most people have been bullied in some way shape or form, and some have had it worse then others. Here in Koe no Katachi, we watch as the main character Ishida who bullied the female main character (along with many others), Nishimiya, who is deaf, try to change himself and make up for the childhood that he took away from Nishimiya.
Some of the things that really made me like this manga storywise was how real the actual setting of the show is and how it can be a very controversial thing to cover in a manga. The bullying is realistic, it isn't kiddie bullying that

some people get, its the real full on, bullying that can cause many incidents in our world, and the depictions in the manga about the bullying in their world were actually fair and fair the same or even maybe worse then some other cases. Its even worse how its towards a deaf person, where as people with disabilities are the ones who are often times the easiest targets for bullying.
The art of the manga in all honesty isn't that good, in fact the art wasn't really good for most of the series, but the art isn't really the thing about the series that drags you in, its the storyline and the characters. I think the art isn't bad enough to completely drop the show, I think the art fits in most of the situations but is poor in quite a lot of other areas as well.
The characters in this manga we're in all honesty, very good characters. I mean good as in "they're realistic." not "they're amazingly great."
The characters in this series all are pretty much assholes at the start. Even Nishimiya had her fair share of problems, but we understand why she acted that way from basically the start of the manga.
Ishida was by FAR the best character in this manga, and honestly I would read it again for his development as a character in this series. I was simply amazed and inspired watching Ishida grow and mature throughout the series, especially while his former classmates and future people that came into play not wanting to change for a MAJORITY of the series, but they do end up changing, for the better, I think.
I rate the characters so highly in this series because it shows that, really change DOES NOT happen overnight, and you can't expect it to, it shows a very accurate depiction of how humans are and how the teenage years work a number on you and how they shape you as a person, and that if you want to change ONLY you can do that, and Ishida was a prime example of that throughout the entire series.
The series even has the hateable characters for a while but it does a very good job closing and setting the scene for change in them.
My enjoyment level of this series was at a high for a while, I started reading the manga 2 days prior to finishing it. Its a short 64 chapter manga that can really keep you entertained throughout the whole manga.
My only disappointments for this series is a very lackluster, rushed ending with basically a ending that anyone can spin anyway they want to. I'm not really a fan of those types of endings (except for Code Geass) because they have to be executed well, but in this case the closings on the characters were not so great, the ending didn't really give anyone a look into what happened after, or anything of the sort.
So don't read this series if you're looking for a romance-esque type series, I thought that it would be like that going in, but frankly there's no kissing scenes, full on confessions (there are halfassed ones) but I think the manga is definitely better without it because I think the story was more focused on change and how to improve yourself as a person overtime and that more people have these problems then you might think.
Overall I rate this series a 9/10 because of the ending being lackluster, everything else was amazing and its one of the best mangas I've read in the past few years. Be sure to check this out if you're bored and looking for a read.

Ahh, Oreimo, what a weird trip this anime was. So, I was a bit sketched out at first when deciding to watch Oreimo, quite frankly the sister stuff kinda freaking bugs me in anime, but after watching another series a little bit that had a similar premise I found myself going into the daily life of the Kousaka siblings and the other weird and eccentric characters in the show.
As you know this series IS about a relationship between a brother and a sister, I actually jumped to conclusions that this would be trash but I actually found myself rather enjoying it.

as a 6 mainly because its not really something new, and it wasn't like it was really that great of a story anyways, it was more like a slice of life harem romcom to me just with the sister/brother stuff going on and the eroge.
As for art I must say that the art is quite frankly one of my favorite parts about the show, the art is actually pretty well done, and it fits the theme of the story and the scenes when it needs to overall making my enjoyment level a bit higher then it would have been.
The sound in the show I would rate highly because of the OP not being complete trash like most harems/romcoms. I actually thought the OP wasnt really garbage but I even more so liked how when I listened to the characters the voice actors really did fit them and didn't make my ears bleed like other animes that I have watched.
The characters in the show aren't actually really THAT bad, the main character, yes he is your typical normal character but overall I do like how he goes out of his way from time to time for his sister, and even then he changed throughout the show which is ANOTHER thing I must say I liked, both of the Kousakas were stuck right up there ass but somehow managed to fix that shitty relationship of a brother and sister.
My enjoyment level of the series is basically a 6 primarily because again its nothing you HAVEN'T seen before, its just actually not so bad as to its execution and quite frankly even if its not entirely different I like the direction its heading into the second season and will probably watch it.
My only complaint with the show is some of the cringey scenes that make otaku culture go over the top, it gets to be a bit much at times. Plus people can easily take this as a normal brother+sister problem relationship at their age and hows its normal. I frankly ended up liking the fact that it was like that, but I know it wouldnt be other peoples cup of tea.
Overall I think Oreimo isn't a bad series at all, I think its much more of a comedy about 2 dumb siblings currently then the romance, I kinda see it coming in a second season but I must say that this might be an anime that if you judge it by its cover or title you might be missing a possibly enjoyable series, and this is coming from someone who didn't want to step foot into the world of Oreimo for 3 years.

So, I haven't done a review on MAL and I feel like I should have done this a while back after how many times I have put animes I completed after I watched them. I just felt like doing this one because this was to be fair, my friend recommended this to me for months and I thought it'd be alright, and well... actually it was pretty bad.

anything, but can cling to one thing. and thats biking. The main character, Mikoto, has a crush on the girl Yuki, and ends up riding the bike because he was persuaded into joining a club so she could get some money. The whole show is a pretty big jumbled mess.
For starters, the beginning of the show wasn't actually bad, it has some very good comedical essences and especially good for its time that it was made. Although after the race starts the show actually drags out. The race took place from around episodes 13 till the end of the series and from that point of the series you're in for flashback mania to go in depth with the characters and their experiences and even about characters that have little to NO impact on the story whatsoever.
The goal of the "Tour de France" was made apparent at Episode 1 but in reality was never hashed onto for the rest of the show which also makes the purpose of the show kinda bad and was never followed through.
Art wise, the character designs in my own opinion, were actually pretty good. However, the animation and bike scenes were pretty bad overall and considering when the anime was made there is actually a lot more that could have been done to make it more visually appealing, but then again, that didn't happen.
The audio in the show was probably the only thing that I didn't really mind, I kinda somewhat liked the opening, and the ending was okay also but as for the actual sounds from voice actors, and some of the music in the anime was just garbage. Very overused music, the voice acting for some of the characters just made you sick of the characters themselves (the main character)
The characters actually were in my own opinion, the worst part of the whole show. The story was a good premise, plot idea, etc. but quite frankly the characters actually ruined the show for me. The main character was as I said earlier, the typical shounen character, and its the same for the rest of the characters. The worst character in the show was probably the main female lead, who the MC has a crush on. She leaves a very crappy impression at the start and actually almost makes up on it somewhat during the race and a bit prior, but seriously, way to go and ruin every bit of buildup at the end, much applause.
and whats sad is, even the characters that made a GOOD impression, had the same downfall, and I ended up just honestly hating myself for admitting but the main protagonist is actually the only good character in the series and he isn't even a very good character.
Overall enjoyment level would be a LOT LOT higher, but because of the horrendous last couple episodes (the race episodes) that ruined everything that I liked about the show and made it dragged on and boring and made me skip half the episode and go onto the next episode only to do the same thing because it was a constant occurrence every episode of flashbacks that have absolutely NOTHING that benefits the story in anyway possible.
The manga is very slow to update, and the anime came out a bit after the manga ended if I recall, and the time spent FLASHBACKING useless characters, could be used to fill the series with stuff that would catch the series up because my enjoyment level plummeted especially near the END and BECAUSE of the lackluster ending. I would have definitely enjoyed this series a lot more if that was the case because the ending was by far one of its weakest points.
Overall, I think the anime isn't THAT bad, and I have friends and met other people who like this series, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. There was quite a bunch of things that in my opinion would be good if changed but overall the anime can be enjoyed if you can ignore some certain things. I definitely would try to watch the series, because its a very mixed opinion, but then again it wouldnt be a bad idea skipping past it either
