Little bit about me in general beyond the anime/manga...I'm studying Civil Engineering, I'm a uni hiking club leader (and treasurer), I like attending debates, not big on clubbing (stress is making me fonder of it), go to church and meet up with the other students regularly, love the theatre (when I have a steady income I swear I'll put aside money to go at least every couple of months) and I'm a black girl with a cat.
Dragonball was the first anime I ever watched dedicatedly so the characters are always going to hold a special place with me. Watched it when I was...15/16 maybe, so I haven't been on 'the scene' for terribly long. I'm in and out a lot - Life's too busy to dedicate it to cartoons.
Mmmm...my favourites tend to depend mostly on how much I like the characters. Cliche characters are an instant no, and the same goes for those who are unbearably annoying or just don't inspire any attachment.
The best characters are those with distinct personalities, those you get to watch grow and of course the complex characters.
I also highly rate the ones that make me laugh a lot, or have a great maturity to the plot.
I connect to Hiiragi Kagami on a spiritual level and only wish I'd watched Lucky Star in my teenage years

The cat one you mentioned is one of my favourite arcs in the show. Hanekawa is my favourite and it totally does her justice.
They're just so wonderful
Kizumonogatari is a series of 3 films, and only 2 are out. Watch them literally whenever you want; they're chronologically first in the series, so they don't spoil anything.
The only change I'd make to that list would be skip Hanamonogatari entirely until Zokuowarimonogatari comes out, or until you finish Koyomimonogatari, at which point you can decide (also don't look at the names of future arcs. Some are huge spoilers). It's a self-contained arc but it spoils something huge from Koyomimonogatari that is explored in Zoku. You don't have to skip it but I definitely would.
The text flashes aren't necessary - they are excerpts from the novel which give a cool insight to the narrator's (usually Araragi but it changes depending on who the arc's protagonist is) thoughts.
You have seen Madoka, which is another SHAFT work.
