(The other I scored 10 was Nodame Cantabile, and I think I may have enjoyed it even more than Legend of the Galactic Heroes. Wonderful music, great characters, life-affirming story, made me wish I were an accomplished musician! And totally and utterly different from LotGH, so perhaps impossible to compare :)
Wonderful. Nodame Cantabile is a masterpiece. Its one of those anime (along with lotgh) that made me fall in love with music. My suggestion to you is, if you really love music and wish that were an accomplished musician, you should pick up an instrument, any instrument you feel like, and learn to play. Sure, you wont be awesome as Chiaki or Nodame, but don't let that stop you from picking up music and learning to play it. I started learning the violin six months ago and I'm already playing some of the easier classics (ode to joy, greensleeves, auld lang syne etc).
Hey fella, I recently finished LotGH too and I looked up in the comments again because I noticed a few other people were close to finishing it. The issues you brought up in the final thread were something I felt dragged it a little down too. That and handling of
Reuenthal's rebellion/death. The pacing felt very off and it didn't come across with the same quality that deaths like Yang's did.
But anyway I also noticed you loved Nodame! One of my favourites too! I have a feeling we may POSSIBLY have similar taste in anime so I would go on to point you to some of the 10's in my list, see if any of them interest you c:
