Hard to say. I think the introduction of the Observers & Geniuses as antagonists/allies should let the story regain momentum whilst also keeping the question of how the adventurers can get home & whether or not they'd want to relevant. It's just a shame they seem to have gone with pan-dimensional aliens harvesting human tears as the reason for the Catastrophe happening in the first place, because whenever shows start talking about the magic power of human emotions my eyes tend to roll out of my skull.
Still, though, there's certainly room for things to get better, but I don't have high hopes. They seem to have decided to wash their hands of some of LH2s loose ends by having Crusty magically reappear & Nureha retake control of PH just because, so at least those issues are resolved, albeit lazily. Will have to wait & see if & when they announce a third season, since in theory the longer they wait the more time they've taken to actually think through what's going to happen next, as opposed to just walking in circles for 25 episodes again.
I'll say this though, if Kanami turns out to be less the arse kicking tits & fists adventurer she seemed to be & more the "Hurry up & find the portal I know nothing about, Shiroe. I just want to bring my kid into LH because boo hoo irl sucks" simpleton she was in the final episode, I'll be annoyed regardless of whatever else happens.
