Kyoukai Senki, or AMAIM Warrior at the Borderline is another one of those Anime I have stumbled upon just by listening to one of my friends rant about something in the Mecha modeling world ironically. While I wouldn't consider this one of those hidden gems as I did for the likes of World Trigger, I am happy I came across it and I look forward to watching the second season.

As with any Mecha themed show it has what you would expect. BIG robots piloted by humans with the action that is generally coupled with it. As a casual Mecha watcher I can say I enjoyed ... some of the aspects of this show compared to other shows I have seen before. One aspect that I enjoyed a lot is explained instantly at the very beginning. It's more connected to the activities of a planets civilization and the different nations and their goals that go along with that. I totally understand that while most people would want to use the Mecha fantasy aspect of things to see more space themed stuff I quite enjoy occasionally running into something that's more stationary on a planet and not scattered across a galaxy or three. If you also enjoy then you should also expect to see some political aspects mixed in as well.

As for the characters, don't expect a ton of development considering what area the Anime itself tries to fill. I do happen to like Amou a whole lot and that's because his character is one that goes through it a bit (Like almost anyone else would in these types of shows) and does not sit around feeling bad or cursing inadequacies for 25 episodes, or never getting over them in some cases. He handles his stuff to the best of his ability and moves on. The same can certainly be said for Gashin which is great and I like him too but Amou being the main man gets him more screen time thus more impactful by default.

After getting to the end of the first season I am super happy I can just start the second season without a wait. I don't believe the end of the first season will stick as shown. (Trying to not spoil here)

For what it's worth I think Kyoukai Senki while not a blistering 11/10 in the Mecha world is certainly a good quick watch if you like Mecha and don't mind the political nature of the scenario.

Overlord IV picks up as anyone would expect after watching the first three installments. Ainz continues on his quest to further his ultimate goal. Is it the same as Albedo and the rest of the guardians think in the continuous back and forth word-play outbursts that put some of the guardians in awe of the great sorcerer king, the same ones that often leave him confused or flustered? You'll have to watch and find out...

Now that I've inserted my bit of fun, onto my opinion of the season. I know I have said in reviews of the previous seasons that the show has started to ... drag a bit for me. To my delight I can say they have switched gears a bit and left out a good deal of what made the show turtle on for me. This season didn't have so much of the overpowered and seemingly untouchable Ainz wave his wand and instantly demolish everything in sight.

This season was a bit more "social" for a lack of better term and I enjoyed it. The assault in this season was less physical which I really did appreciate. Seeing more of the passive politics angle was a bit refreshing after the last few seasons also. I kind of felt bad for the old king because of the situation some of the other nobles in his country put him in.

Towards the end we finally get to see what I am looking forward too. I hope it doesn't just come to a screeching halt for an extended period of time now that things are getting interesting in the way of Ainz potentially finding the first of what he has been searching for since his accidental nap took him over the edge.

Overlord III picks up as anyone would expect. There are certain mini aspects that keep happening that while they don't completely ruin it for me, do however cause the show to drag a bit now that I am through three seasons.

The show itself is definitely "moving along" in the best sense possible for the way it is presented. I think the show has always done and continues to do a pretty good job of incorporating little segmented stories to go along with Ainz and his ultimate goal, which sometimes gets morphed by a certain floor guardian and Ainz is forced to improvise a bit. It ... does provide a bit of comedy relief for me when done right.

It was nice to see the Carne Village crew get a little bit of screen time this season and I really enjoyed how it was thought out. The goblins themselves have way more going on then I ever would have though considering how they came about. It was also nice to see Enri and Nfirea front and center for a bit.

This season brought back shades of the very first episode of the series where Ainz was hit a bit more close to home (Best I can do without spoilers) It was pretty cool to see such a large organized effort with a few groups and how they worked with one another in their specific instances again. I think the show would benefit from more of that style of interaction whether it is Momonga and Nabe or a group of other humans like we have seen in spurts before this seasons gathering.

I am also enjoying the basic chess match that seems to be developing but I am a bit biased in that sense because I like that sort of thing in general. I am starting to get a bit bored of one aspect of the show though. That is the "God-like" aspect of it all. I understand why it is there and why it probably has to be there to some degree but I don't really enjoy too much of the "moths to the flame" stuff. I realize that I might be a little more in my feelings because of what happened at the end of this season but I really think its gone a bit overboard with then end of season three

In closing I do think that Overload III is still very much worth the watch because for me it was still very much enjoyable minus that one aspect I mentioned above. If you have started it already and enjoyed it so far I don't think that will change through the course of this season.

Overlord II picks up straight where the first series left off. It continues moving in the direction of Momonga gathering information to increase his as well as his companions reputation in order to hopefully reach out to other real players from the original Yggdrasil game, if any exist that is.

This installment takes a bit of a different angle in progressing though as Momonga does take a seat on the sidelines for the most part. Instead he uses his wit to try and gain following in effort to spread his influence and also gain more information at a quicker pace given what happened to Shalltear previously. ... He also takes this time to experiment with a couple different things all the while testing one of his companions.

Sebas (Not the one I referenced above) is sort of in the spotlight a bit this installment which is okay with me. Momonga sent Sebas out on more of a solo type information gathering mission. He finds himself in a city and while there Sebas gets involved in a bit more than Momonga probably would have wanted with an organization but he can't exactly help himself given that his creators personality is fused within him to a degree.

Through this installment we do get to see a bit of drama unfold and there is a good amount of action that ensues. I still enjoyed those aspects this time around. Don't expect any of it to be as action packed as what you would expect for the likes of a Shounen, mostly because this isn't technically one.

This installment has merit in my opinion. We get to see more of the basic NPCs take the front here and its nice to see some of that as opposed to the "overpowered" Momonga and friends pretend to struggle for a bit then just strike back and be done with ease.

It's been a while since I felt like sitting down and watching something. I chose Overlord simply because I had seen it in passing over the years and it caught my eye even though I had never tuned in for even one episode. I also tend to have long hiatus' in my viewing of Isekai and felt a desire to dive into one again.

Overload has the typical Isekai feel were everything takes place in an alternative world most similar to an MMORPG setting. It is packed with things you would expect from the genre as well. That said it does have its own bits ... of uniqueness attached to me, which possibly could be from that fact that I've only seen a handful.

One of those unique things is the fact that it seems the "Protagonist" of the story is Momonga, who was most likely anything but that before the game went dark for good. The whole gang actually gives off the aura of the "baddies". In a bazar plot twist though, Momonga, in his quest to figure out what is actually going on and if there are any other real players left in the new "Yggdrasil" does more good than anything else.

Momonga's troop of servants is also something I don't think you see very often in this sort of atmosphere. They all seem to have their own personalities who have taken on some of the player characters personality traits that created them. We don't get to see much of that in this season but there are glimpses and I'm sure there are more instances of that in future seasons.

The show itself is a good mix of things you'd also come to expect from an MMORPG which makes things flow nicely in my opinion and you can tell really easy that Momonga's player character is very used to playing the games with the way he thinks most things through and utilizes the tools at his disposal.

I think it works in my favor for my overall enjoyment of shows like this that I haven't seen a billion different Isekai and that I usually take long breaks between watching them. I think my opinion of this show would be much less if not the case.

If you are in the mood for an Isekai with a bit of action and a little character drama between the gang with the occasional God complex thrown in I think you will enjoy this one. I will certain be continuing the series.

Suisei no Gargantia while starts off seeming to go in one direction quickly breaks and makes a sharp turn. Not for the worse personally, just more unexpected. I was expecting more Mech esq. space or robot battle type stuff but it turns out to be much more slice of life oriented than anything else for the vast majority

The show centers more on the everyday of the people of Gargantia which Ledo now finds himself apart of a not so pleasant encounter in space. Ledo being the "Alien" in this case leads to some real difficulties for everyone involved but over time things get better

Ledo, while ... adjusting to the mostly peaceful life afforded to the earthlings of Gargantia does still struggle with some of his past. I can't say I blame him though since he was raised to be something completely different than what his current chapter in life has in store for him.

The cast itself I think was pretty solid. Not all that much building goes on with specific characters aside from Ledo and to a much lesser extent Chamber but most fill their role accordingly. I think the show fits in some form of politics very nicely also. A couple things happened that I was either not expecting or saw as a possibility but didn't think it would happen to the extreme degree one or two things did.

While I do have a tendency to forget that just about every Mech Anime I have ever seen has some sort of psychological trauma for the main or direct supporting cast Gargantia sure didn't forget to remind me. I didn't expect it to happen the way it did either. That could certainly be coming from my lack of experience with the genre outside of maybe 7 shows.

Suisei no Gargantia is definitely worth the time if you like the type of show it is. I don't think it will blow anyone's expectations out of the water but its certainly not a waste either

The God of High School takes place in Korea in what looks to be a time close to our current day and age. The show itself starts off in a pretty unique way considering its actual theme.

Shortly after the intro we start to get introduced to the real plot of the show. In short it's as the title suggests. High School students from all around Korea square off in qualifiers and ultimately a tournament where the winner gets one wish granted.

There isn't all that much character building so far which is always a down for me personally but given the things at work behind the ... tournament itself I can sort of look passed that for now. If this ever continues on the animated side of things I hope there is certainly more development for the main three which are Mori, Mira and Dae especially.

I think they have potential to be a solid trio and I would love to see them in one of those World Trigger trio battle scenarios. In my mind if we get to see them in action maybe they would end up being The God of High school version of the original Sannin from Naruto that we never got to really see in action. Mira certainly seems as though she can hold her own from what little we see, Especially after how things happen for her

The show has its own power system called Charyeok. I don't want to spoil to much so I'll just say the key is in the title. It looks like a very interesting spin on that sort of thing and it really intrigues me to see how it's handled

The God of High school is certainly one of those. "Beat em up" type of Anime like Baki the Grappler but with significantly less graphic intensity. It did even manage to have one of those moments that made me go "oh sh*t that was pretty epic" which is hard to do to me nowadays since I have seen so many Action/Shounen shows now. I found its soundtrack to be pretty amazing as well. A lot of the tracks sound really good if you like the faster paced stuff and they were fit in well in a lot of places.

I personally hope to see more of this show down the line. It really isn't anything "LEGENDARY but for what it is so far it has a lot of potential to be something really really good.

Fate/Stay Night is a fictional story that involves seven people that happen to have mage ancestry. These mages end up in one way or another summoning spirits of their own to fight for them or along side them with the purpose of obtaining the Holy Grail. They are called servants. I prefer to call them spirits, so I will going forward. The Holy Grail is an object that is said to be able to grant survivor of the war, its wielder any wish. One catch though, only a spirit can touch the Holy Grail

This series itself is an alternative telling of the second part of ... Fate/Zero as compared to Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works.

The show centers around Emiya Shirou and his path through the 5th Holy Grail war with his spirit. He has a connection to the fourth war which is a main driving force for the person he is. Through his trials and tribulations we meet a nice size cast of different characters. Most of which are involved in one way or another with the current war.

The story itself is pretty typical of what most would come to expect from its description. Plot itself isn't anything crazy unique to right home about as it has it's fill of what everyone should expect (Drama, and Action with Tragedy mixed in) but I do really enjoy the way they went about it with the whole Mage and Spirit come together combined with each Spirit being based on some kind of mythology.

Character development in this version aside from Emiya is almost non existent. He is the only one we really get to learn about in any detail which is fine all things considered. I will say that I generally am not a huge fan of the mentality Emiya has. I understand it has its place in certain things and it's been done before in other shows, however in those other shows which I didn't mind it by the end, the character actually grew into something that wasn't just a talking sandbag getting cut up and bouncing back while never evolving. They grew into something that was worth while after all that idealistic talking.

This version of the show to me also subtly added Harem inserts and I personally didn't find it appealing. If others did than that is okay, However for me It took away from the main focus of the show when it was happening.

All in all it's been a long time since I watched this version of the Fate/Stay Night series and I had a desire to re-visit it. It is much like I remembered, not bad by any means but I think the Unlimited Blade Works version is superior. I will eventually re-watch that as well, plan to do so right after re-watching Fate/Zero in the future.

At the time of me writing this my mind is pretty much scattered because there is so much I want to say so pardon me if this turns out a little awkward...

As most might assume if they are familiar with the series the hype of the show really comes in during the matches. Given how things went with this kind of "sectioned off" approach to season 4 and as I made mention of in my review of the first half of "to the top", the second half was indeed more about the volleyball match itself.

As mentioned in my first part review, this season was done ... very similar to season two... The first part is a build up to the actual matches. The only main difference this time the first twelve episodes or so wasn't about the entire teams growth. This time it is more hyper focused on the struggle Hinata experienced when he saw some of his teammates get selected into various things.

Anyone else who watched the show this far in knows that while Hinata has his few select strengths he is without a doubt the weakest member on Karasuno because of the lack of time and experience he has had in the sport compared to everyone else Karasuno. He is also self aware of this. He struggles with serving, he can barely do anything on the court in terms of defense and his positioning is not the best. He's just been getting by with his speed and reflexes on the defense side

Anyways... This portion of the season focused on the volleyball itself and we get to see Karasuno really get put in a spot we haven't seen before. I won't say much more than that because it might spoil things.

The match itself was great. It had everything that I'd come to expect from the show. Some real fear instilling moments, a little bit of despair, some comedic and motivational inserts as well as the heart stopping points every great volleyball match has. We were even treated to some on screen time of another heavy team that has long history with Karasuno

I feel like overall while there were some definite differences in some aspects to this season compared to the 3 prior it was still a very solid continuation. They did seem to use a lot of the same scene cuts to do things like when Atsumu would silence Inarizaki's band before serves, and the animation quality did seem a little lower than usual among some other smaller things. Considering everything though I believe if they had to do a lot to compensate for the current world event that's taken 2020 by storm they did an amazing job overall by not letting quality diminish significantly all around.

In closing while I see some are having a lot more issues with this season... I still think they did an amazing job all around with everything considering circumstances. I also feel comfortable in assuming that this wasn't supposed to be cut into two halves of the same season and if they were able to run it like originally planned it would have flowed a lot better for those people. I waited for the second half to finish, as well as re-watched the first half right before watching this and I didn't notice any drastic decrease in quality overall.

If anyone made it this far I know the review itself kinda went off track a bit but thanks for finishing. Merry Christmas and all the best of wishes into 2021 to everyone

I am a huge fan of the series so far and I can say happily that while I don't think this season in particular is the best of the best so far, I think it's carrying on well.

The show picks up where the third season left off with the result of the Karasuno VS. Shiratorizawa and a pretty major announcement for two of Karasuno's players.

This season kind of starts much like the beginning of the second season and as a result may seem a little boring to some in comparison to what we come to expect but let me tell you that its not all ... that bad. Also if they plan to repeat the same thing as season two then it means the second half of season four is going to be absolutely bonkers

This season though for the most part is hyper focused on Hinata again after he did what he does and while he might be fumbling around to start things off he certainly picks himself up as well as a lot of little quirks from just being observant. Who would have thought that it was possible to pick up so much new information from being the eyes off the court huh?

On a much less hyper scale we get to see a little of another point of view which in its own way has its method of inserting a few of the power players from the upcoming tournament

Anyways after most of the seasons build up to the tournament we finally start it and after one match and a few points we get the net taken down... Now as disappointing as that may sound fret not as it is well into 2020 at the time of this reviews writing and we can just continue onward without a hitch.

Admittedly I did this on purpose after watching like 10 episodes back then because I hate waiting weekly as it is and much less so for an Anime I can say I really really enjoy.

In closing while this season doesn't have the most stellar looking animation quality and action packed rallies or stress inducing set/match points there is still good substance for me. They certainly didn't forget to include the character traits that we came to know and love for the ones that did get the screen time as well as a decent bit of humor sprinkled in for me.
