Again I'm really sorry that this is late. I'm less and less active nowadays tbh.

Joey's album didn't really click for me only after multiple listens. I guess i thought it was way too political at first and didn't really gave it a chance. Anyways my favs would have to be : Land of the Free, Babylon (I swear when him and Chronixx get on a track, it just turns out to be amazing!), Amerikkkan Idol, For My People and Legendary. A lot of people seem to hate the first half but I personally liked it a lot.
I still don't think it's as good as 1999 and B4DA$$ though.

While I don't think it's better than TPAP , I still believe that DAMN is up there with Section 80/good kid for me. There wasn't really any tracks that I straight up hated in the end.
My favourite would have to XXX, Element, DNA, Fear, Duckworth, God, Lust and Pride.
Not gonna lie, when I first heard GOD I was very put off by it but now I love it lol. It's probably the track that I played the most tbh. It reminds a bit of Real from good kid, a track that I also hated at first because of the hook but came to love the more I listen to it.

However I have to agree with Loyalty and Love being the weakest tracks on the tape.

Thoughts on the Gorillaz album? I Personally found it to be very lackluster and way too drown out. I only go back to listen to Ascencion, Andremeda, Submission, Busted & Blue, Hallelujah Money and that's about it.
The bonus tracks were pretty good though, a lot better than most of the main ones.

And also, what did you think of the XXl freshman this year?

I haven't been watching any anime recently, the ones I watch I properly tag so no I'm not watching that now. But I'll take that into consideration.

I know! Bro, Canal St. is my favorite track along with LSD. So fucking soothing and moody.

Especially Canal St. for me, showed me Rocky can go hard in lyricism, aggression and overall the imagery he can creat when rapping.

Bruhh, i feel you! Wayne's verse on M's ripped that song apart! shit was fire.

LPFJ2 is also my favorite as well, shit was the most gangster joint on the album.

Very experimental, went harder than his last album.

I do actually have another review for the anime we're discussing - and it's a more measured piece than the one that I posted on the show's page. The ranty one was nothing more than me picking a fight with those who decided that they had a right to threaten people for having an opinion that didn't mesh with their world view. The other piece is on my blog here on MAL and it's due for a rewrite - but it gets some of the main points across in a more even-handed manner.

As for changing your opinion or perspective, nothing could be further from the truth. I don't have the right to tell anyone what to think or like. All I can do is give people enough information for them to at least think about what they're watching, reading or playing. People should have the necessary information for them to make their own decisions and form their own opinions.

The thing that I find tiresome these days are the people who assume that I don't understand the anime in question when nothing could be further from the truth. I've had almost 20 years to think about it and discuss it with countless people - both anime fans and otherwise.

I apologise if the review upset you - it's not aimed at people who want to have a reasonable discussion. It served its purpose as people have put their criticisms forward in droves without having to suffer from the more rabid fan element - or at least I hope that's still not going on.

That review was written as a reaction to the rather bilious attacks on the few people who tried to post reasonable criticisms about the show. At that point the trolls were happy to make certain ... threats, so I wrote that as a response to them specifically.

As for Lain, I should really have downgraded that to a 7. It was among the first anime I added when I joined MAL, but looking at it today it would be a 7 at most. In terms of its existential message it has a bit more logic to it than the other show in question, and because it was a shorter series the narrative was more focused. Yes, it can be just as confusing and somewhat pretentious, but it doesn't have as many of the huge logical holes as the other show.

Oh, just so you're aware. I may consider the other show we're talking about to be mediocre, but that doesn't mean that it shouldn't be considered a classic. In terms of the animation, design principles, choreographyy and effects it was great, but it was let down by poor characterisation of key characters, a lack of justification and for good portion of the series it has no real conviction.

Actually that was an assumption on my part as the tone of the first message suggested that you had a point you wished to make but were hesitating for some reason.

As for the reviewer's intentions, it's often the case that people try to convey some kind of meaning when they write about something - even more so during reviews and critiques. Sometimes what they want to convey is simply that they liked or disliked a particular thing, and in other cases the writer is simply trying to cause a reaction (what we now call trolling).

I'll admit I was trolling a little with that review, but it also served a more important purpose and the results of it can be seen n the pages of reviews for that show - if you look carefully that is.

That very much depends on the reviewers intentions.
