Yeah, I know it depends on the magical girl. And I think fancy clothing just distracts attention from their "natural beauty", if that makes sense. :o

Alright I'm gonna tell you a random story.
I remember when I became an anime fan five years ago, after I finished my first anime, I started looking for more animes to watch. One of the first animes I found was Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, and I really wanted to watch it, especially after seeing this screenshot. I learned what the magical girl genre was, and I became obsessed with the idea of cute little girls being really badass and blowing stuff up. xD So I started looking for more magical girl animes, and among them, I found Cardcaptor Sakura. When I looked at the cover picture, my immediate reaction was "This looks like a silly kiddy girly anime. Why would I want to watch something like that? Pass on this one." And then I was like, "Wait hold on, it has a high average score and the reviews say it's really good. So I guess I'll be watching this anyway." @.@
Unbelievable, isn't it? :o I was dangerously close to just... casually "brushing aside" my would-be favorite anime, just like that. And while magical girls did indeed become my favorite genre, it's for a completely different reason from what I imagined five years ago. The combat and "blowing stuff up" is actually one of my least favorite aspects of the genre. (It's also far from the most important aspect of the genre. Took me a while to realize that my initial impression of the genre was completely distorted.) And because of that, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, the anime I was so obsessed with five years ago, ended up being below average among the magical girl animes I've watched. :o It has too much combat, fanservice, and "blowing stuff up", and not enough cuteness and sparkliness, not enough "love and friendship speeches", etc. And the "silly kiddy girly" anime I nearly skipped over ended up being my favorite anime. Kinda ironic how everything ended up opposite from how I imagined, huh? x3

B-but isn't that the whole point of magical girls? To look at the bright colors and cute dresses? x3 I don't think their plot is all that special otherwise.
Oh yeah, that reminds me...
I remember a few years ago, I had an idea for a fanfiction. It was a hybrid between magical girls and Yugioh. I don't know if you watch or play Yugioh, so I'll try not to make this too confusing. The main character starts off as an ordinary duelist that likes to play Yugioh at school. One day, some bad guys show up at her town, and they have a special power that allows them to hijack people's duel disks and force them into duels. And if they win, they can drain energy from their victim. The main character receives powers from a strange creature that allows her to transform into a magical girl. While transformed, she has access to unique powerful cards, which she uses against the bad guys. Eventually, the bad guys get more powerful, like being able to summon real monsters (normally, the duel disks create holograms) ...
And once again, the roadblock for me is the artwork. D: I really want to create art for both the magical girls and the new cards.
(Yeah I know, I have all these cool magical girl ideas, but haven't actually done anything... )

Alright I'm gonna ask you a random question. Am I the only one that finds the normal/civilian version of a girl more attractive than the transformed magical girl version? You'd expect people to find the transformed version better, but not for me. I just find that the transformed costumes are often too over-the-top flashy, and they usually get weird hairstyles as well. :o Anyways I'd like to know what you think about this. :3

Sounds pretty cool. ^^ Yeah, it's pretty typical for a magical girl plot, where there's some kind of conflict going on in another world, which the magical girls get dragged into. xD

What are your favorite genres besides magical girls? I think my favorites are comedy and slice of life.

Well, I'm kinda weird and like doing everything myself, so yeah... :3 I'm not sure I can even find somebody willing to help me, considering it's my personal "fun project". xD

Yeah sure, you can tell me what it's about. It's okay if it's clichéd. xD After all, I don't watch magical girl animes for their plot. :P

Oh yeah... what do you like about magical girls? I like them because of the relaxing and cheerful atmosphere they provide. Just watching one episode can give me lots of energy and motivation. I like their vivid, bright colors as well. But most importantly, they're simply a lot of fun to watch! :D Few other animes can match the sheer enjoyment I get from magical girl animes.

The hardest part about making the game is probably the graphics. I'm bad at drawing, both on paper and with a computer. :/ Everything else is probably doable for me, given enough time.

I'm interested in seeing your magical girl story. ^^
What kind of video games do you play?

Oh yeah... I've been thinking about making a game based on magical girls. It'll (obviously) be about a group of civilian girls that can power up into magical girls to fight monsters. They can wear different dresses and jewelry, each with their unique powers. xD Though I'll need to learn a lot about programming before I can make a game, so it'll be a while. Just figured I'd share something random. :P

Wow. You're lucky to have discovered anime at such a young age. And a lot of those are magical girl animes too. xD I started watching anime when I was 20.

What do you like to do in your spare time, besides anime? For me, it's video games, watching random Youtube videos, browsing forums, and math (yes, I like to do math for fun :3 ).

How long have you been watching anime? And how did you get into watching anime?
I started anime five years ago, when I came across an anime called Shakugan no Shana. I actually forgot how I discovered it, or what intrigued me so much to make me actually want to watch it. But when I watched it, I was instantly hooked, and ended up watching the first season in just 3 days, which is 8 episodes a day. :o And even after I finished watching, I ended up thinking about it for... quite a few days. That led me to realize how enjoyable anime can be, and I started looking for other anime to watch, eventually becoming an anime fan. xD

I wish! I've only completely finished Smile and Suite. But my first was Futari wa. Never ended up finishing that. I briefly tried Heartcatch in the past but I think if I get in the mahou shoujo mood I'm going right for Princess :P
