Why, hello there!
I like anime, and I enjoy manga. I tend to prefer plot driven and epic series with lots of drama, yandere and suspense (ex. Monster, Death Note, Higurashi, ef, Kaiji, Baccano!, Elfen Lied, Now and Then, Here and There, Hellsing), but I also enjoy well-executed comedy (ex. Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Excel Saga, Puni Puni Poemi), original series that don't suck (ex. Bokurano, Serial Experiments Lain, School Days), as well as calm and beautiful series, especially if they have some clever message that they manage to convey (ex. Mushishi, Haibane Renmei, 5CM). Combinations of the preferences mentioned above may obviously also be acceptable. I also watch far too much ongoing anime.
Meh, gah, bah.

There's a yandere woman in this show and she's the main character. She's more Tsundere though. At one point, she's extremely weak, but then she's badass and borderline psychotic.
I also don't bother with updating my list, because I rarely watch any anime show these days. Only those that pique my attention such as Shin Mazinger, Kaiji, Claymore, Cowboy Bebop, Hajime no Ippo, and Death Note. I usually skip moe shows.
Well, do you trust the japanese public, because the ratings are kinda good for a show that airs 11:30 at night. At one point, it was even behind Naruto and Bleach although this show ain't mainstream at all. I've also seen a lot of blogs that praise it, and honestly, I think I rather trust individual opinions than the mass without any some sort of concrete opinion on it. I also usually visit mecha boards, and I've heard tons of good things about it. Actually, I initially got into Shin Mazinger via a real-life friend.

I've seen enough anime in my childhood. I've seen plenty of them and I know what's good and what's not.
Didn't I say only the first episodes are pretty much mindless? The later ones focus on plot, and I thought you like plot.
Don't speak of lameness of characters when you don't know them yet.
I'm only suggesting you keep going because Shin Mazinger definitely is a plot-driven mazinger series and if you don't know who Tsubasa is, she'll the most badass woman you'll ever meet in anime.
