I watched this movie when it premiered in downtown LA and I didn't really know what to expect. I had just finished the series which was great timing and the quality of the series gave me high expectations for the movie. However the movie basically just retold the story of the series and added in a few extra scenes. The most entertaining part of the movie was the actual "letters to Menma" scenes. Higashi No Eden is quite the work of art. I describe it as a very balanced anime. It had a little of everything. Romance, drama, mystery, comedy, and fantasy. The characters were all interesting enough for you to be invested in the story and the story itself was unpredictable. Leaving me wanting more everytime the end credits rolled. I'm assuming the writers began publishing these after the success of the novel and anime adaptations. Since I've already watched the anime series, I noticed the absences and additions of some events in the durarara manga. And since the manga series was so short, they've created this next set for everything they excluded. If you haven't seen the anime, the story is fairly entertaining, especially if you enjoyed the first set of durarara mangas. I'm enjoying so far.

Clannad ~afterstory~ is everything that the first season should've been. It was very difficult for me to stop watching and honestly I think I watched an entire half of it on one weekend. I'm sure if my girlfriend hadn't spoiled the major events I would've cried harder. They do a very good job in getting you invested in the characters and you'll find yourself rooting for their happiness, and that makes the tragedies that much worse.
