Especially since the main story has half-shifted itself from defeating Demon King lieutenants to Divine Artifact collecting (which means it will be prolonged, and there's more story to tell.)
The inclusion of Eris into the story may just be the kick for that Aqua development the story needs (whatever kind of development)
Since, you know: she's the only one that hasn't progressed at all in terms of character development.
At the same time, there's a triangle love being stalled there.
