The Romcom genre is one of the most exploited genres to make a quick buck: Introduce the worthless MC, pair him with the best girl of the school and stuff 24 minutes with overused tropes. You give it a cute artstyle to hide the subtle imperfection to trick people into thinking this is quality. Kubo-san wa Mob wo Yurusanai is an example of money that can be used elsewhere.

shy from his features: he's invisible. Junta Shiraishi leads a very quiet life with his "curse" of being invisible to everyone; they don't notice him on his classrooms, they don't see him buying stuff...even on his school photo the poor dude was left out because they thought he was absent during that day when he was clearly visable on the photo. But our hero has his luck: Nagisa Kubo, the best girl in his class, is aware of his existance. The two go on about their days socializing with eachother.
Throught the series, you'll see plenty of reminders that Shiraishi doesn't exist and Kubo-san's teasing. This should work to be cute but it doesn't work to be very romantic. For me, the anime lacks the "com" simply because Shiraishi doesn't know what love or even a friend is. The more you watch, the more you begin to feel dissapointed in Shiraishi's behaviour at times; he's a normal kid that's stuck to his little world uncapable of understanding what Kubo-san means to him. He's just there, existing.
Kubo-san on the other hand gives you energy, gives you life. She's very sweet and knows how to get the best out of Shiraishi, teasing is her expertise. But im not fond of her easy going side...if Shiraishi gave her something, she would jump of happiness the same way you give out your first kiss; it's not rewarding from a viewer's perspective when you know Shiraishi is as romantic as a wall.
It would help the series if it had side characters but unfortunately, their cameos are only good for about 10 mins. Kubo-san's older sister is the star here, she's teasing Kubo alll the way, just to keep her in place hehe..though, she has that one weird moment you'll notice. Shiraishi's little brother is another special shout, little guy has a good future. But the rest are just background characters, they add nothing to the story...just there to add minutes. Like every romcom now, the anime looks good; its almost effortless to even give points because it all looks the same. The big points go to Kana Hanazawa. She was the PERFECT role for Kubo! You watch this anime, just to listen to her performance. Her soul was really dedicated to this character, big part of why i kept watching was because of her soothing, happy and "blushing" voice; it adds up to Kubo's cute personality.
Kubo-san wa Mob wo Yurusanai is a series that satisfies those who just want to come home and relax. Kubo-san wa Mob wo Yurusanai is also a series that doesn't have much romance because of Shiraishi himself. Given he consumes lots of manga, you would have thought he would understand how people socialize at least at the lowest of levels but the author doesn't make an effort to change him which impedes me to give this series a higher score. Its limited fun.

In all my years of watching SOL's, Azumanga Daioh is by far the one who impressed me the most with its comedy, characters and the meaning of youth and importance of school. The synopsis is very misleading in regards of the show's quality: Chiyo Mihama is a prodigy student, having skipped 5 grades and only being 10 years old; she's enrolled at a high school where 3 wonderful years with lots of friendships begin. The show is very simple; every episode you get thrown into situations between every day life; characters personality or school events such as the cultural festival, sports festival or even exams.

With all of this; what exactly makes Azumanga Daioh special?
Watching it, you get a sense of youthfulness. Naturally this is because they're in high school but it's the fact that the imagination of the creator takes this show to a whole new level. The show, for example, ranges from everyday school to Sasaki dreaming about Chiyo-chan and combining cats in her dream making the running joke that the yellow cat is actually...her father. Or Ayumu being sleepy and slow all togheter, repeating herself in the process. You won't run out of interactions in this show for sure. This is helped by the characters which all in one, have very different aspects and thanks to the artstyle aswell, stand out. An example would be Yomi; she's tall compared to the rest(except Sasaki) and her glasses give her the sense that she's serious and often being the voice of reason in the show. Sasaki aswell, she's tall and very quiet but in reality; she not exactly that in eyes view and instead...she wants to be small just like Chiyo and ADORES cats.
Another postive aspect is the sound/music of the show; hearing the opening got me super addicted to it; it's catchy, relaxing and has a very SOL feeling to it adding to the youthness of the anime which already counts with a heavy dose of flutes reminding me of the calmness of Non Non Biyori; it pleased me. Voice acting shouldn't even be a discussion; pay attention to Ayumu and you will witness one of the best performances in SOL; it felt like the VA was actually Ayumu herself with her driffting off or simply talking in english. Cute and effective.
But the crowning jewel of it all is the rather the emotinal ending the series has. By episode 26, you've already experienced everything high school had to offer and it's now time to say goodbye..or is it? After all, we can still revisit those memories; memories that always stay by your side, people whom you've met who made you feel special.. that stays for life. "We'll still be together" is the lesson i take from this show; that youth is something beautiful and school ties it in all. Thank you to all the se wonderful girls(and Kimura!) who brought thousands brighter days.

"My child, please listen carefully..."
There´s a forgotten girl.
A girl in the sky.
A girl with a strange disease.
A shy girl playing baseball.
A girl in the moon.
And a girl who wants to see the stars.
These 6 make me who i am today. Without KEY, we may have not have had the impact on drama/romance visual novels or anime we have today. The fantastic character designs and personality; the comedy genious laying around in every episode making me laugh my ass off and the climax scenes turning every man into a crybaby; all of this adds up for unforgetable experiences within our hearts.
Yet one question remains. What
...
if they ALL got togheter? Strap yourself in because you've just gotten into something special.
Before you do that you must have READ or WATCHED: Kanon/Kanon 2002,Kanon 2006; AIR/AIR TV,AIR:The Motion Picture,AIR: In Summer;CLANNAD/CLANNAD, CLANNAD:After Story; Little Busters!/Little Busters!,Little Busters!:Refrain, Little Busters!: EX; Kud Wafter Rewrite,Rewrite:Harvest Festa!/Rewrite,Rewrite Second Season; Planetarian/Planetarian(anime)/ Tomoyo After(this one you must play as there is no anime.)
Don't let the chibi style or 4 minute episode runtime fool you; it's a masterpiece! The classic jokes such as "Toilet Seat Cover" or Kyousuke being a lolicon are very much present with the addition of lots of references to specific scenes or character traits but with a few wholesome moments that bring water to our eyes. Sadly(and this might be a huge drawback to you)character attention might vary a lot. Because it's a limited cast, some characters might show up in 4 episodes while others show up with 3 lines of dialogue with 10 seconds. Personally, i didn't feel loss with that because they really can make every episode feel unique with the same set of characters specially when you can feel that they've enjoyed working on this project; i really loved the voice acting. One major example of this is Misuzu's voice actress. Her past VA is no longer with us so she had big shoes to fill in the girl in the sky. Let me tell you, she was perfect; it was just barely a 1:1 to the original.
Finally, KEY also brought the audience their favourite tunes back; i'm talking about the BGM playing in each one of the games(not all of course) and one special singer returned to melt our hearts once again: Lia.
After watching Kaginado, all i could feel was that this anime was a "Thank you for being there." A Thank you to all of us fans who have witnessed these wonderful and powerful stories that will forever have marked history and our lives.
So from me and all of the fans; Thank you for inspiring millions of people to pursue their dreams and to give us more meanings of important words such as family or friendship.

Another month, another seasonal to watch. Its a vicious cycle that never ends. Some stand out, others fade away in the shadows. In this day and age, with the rise of 'cheesy' comedy/romance, its every production for itself so to speak, looking for whom stands out the most. In all the animes i've watched, Kanojo mo Kanojo is certially one to not forget yet lackluster.
Our story revolves around Mukai Naoya who finally gets to date his childhood friend, Saki Saki but, in the middle of their relashionship, a girl suddenly confesses to Naoya:Nagisa Minase. Naoya overcomed by his feelings, somehow, finds a solution to date

BOTH Saki and Nagisa. Already that last sentence gives a huge warning for what is about to come and i can assure: its a good warning. Seriously, this isn't some common highschool comedy romance; the imagination to pull jokes is incredible and i found myself laughing all episodes. There's a lot of goofy moments; all helped thanks to the characters personalities. To show you the best example would be Naoya; he's always insecure about one of his girls and says something super exagerated that in real life, you'd probably be considered insane. He's not afraid to admit he watched videos of girls just for the oppai nor to tell everyone he's two timing; you will love him. However, this is the problem of the show: the two timing. Because it has a story behind it, it's easy to lose interest given how poor they start to introduce characters and how incredibly long they focus on the story instead of the comedy. If an episode is mostly story, you might aswell just not watch.
In terms of other factors, its a mixed opinion. Art is good; i really love the character design(specially Saki Saki) and the enviroment behind the scenes however, nothing that will really blow you away. There's also plenty of visual errors throught the episodes with eyes and hands not been drawn well. Music is as common as you'd get; there's not a single piece of music i can say "wow this is amazing", no music at all would have been better; specially the OP and ED, those are terrible. Voice actors....can i just say, this is probably one of the best acting i've heard from Ayane Sakura. She's so invested into her character with her way of talking and reacting to things and i could tell she really loved this project; her energy brings life to this anime.
Kanojo mo Kanojo is incredible with its goofy comedy but if you're trying to root for your "best girl" to win, you'd look real stupid doing that. A mixed bag that certinally could have been better if it didn't follow too much the story.

The town that hosted the young boy's future. (May contain spoilers.)
In 1999, Kanon's release marked the begining of a beautiful story in the history of visual novels; one that would inspire that company's future and would also inspire the hearts of many. After AIR having a huge success, KEY wanted to see their first project have a new light after the 2002 anime which was probably outdated by 2006. The 2002 adaptation wanted to recreate the visual novel's story. The 2006 adaptation inovated the story.
One boy, by the name of Aizawa Yuuichi, returns to the town that he made plenty of memories with 7 years

later. However, he can't remember anything that happened throught that time. Meeting the new people(specially girls) in town, Yuuichi would embarck on a journey to remember those lost times and the girl with wings.
I still consider Kanon as one of the best stories that KEY has ever made. There's a good balance between the pain and suffering and the happy and wholesome moments. If you liked AIR, Clannad or Little Busters!, you're going to love this one; they're almost identical. But what makes Kanon special? Well, i think its how well you can connect with the characters. Take Ayu for example; she's always running around doing idiotic stuff and always yelling uguu~(like 70% of the time she's on screen) and yet by the end of the series, you're going to cry for her. Makoto, Mai, Shori; Sayuri; Nakuyu their stories are very tragic and executed perfectly with the visual settings and the beautiful music composed by Jun Maeda. The said characters also have their charm and funny moments; specially Makoto since she's always seen doing goofy stuff and Nayuki with her being always sleepy when its morning.
With that said, if you haven't checked out Kanon yet, you're missing a lot. Not only this is a tribute to the visual novel but it enchaces it by adding in a few extras. Sure, its not 100% faithful from the source but its a solid work on its own, almost as if you're getting the whole package.

After all the adventures, AIR recap tells us the whole story that we've followed and love. Entitled "Memories", it sure wasn't a huge memory to me. They made DVD's for this; why would you waste money making a seperate DVD when you could have bundled it with the original series+ "In Summer"? Alas, it exists.
However its a bad attempt at it. The only thing of relevancy is Mizusu/Haruko arc, the rest gets about 1 minute of attention or simply nothing at all...like Ryuuya/Kanna arc. Nothing special, its your run of the mill recap that wastes you 22 minutes of your life. Quite surprised during the

16 years this anime has been around, there hasn't been any review...probably doesn't need to given how mediocre it is. The charm is all there but the content isn't.

A forgotten summer breeze.
As many people will tell you, AIR was the anime that built the Kyoto Animation as we know and love these days. Its part of the "big 3" KEY animes which were an absolute hit at the time: AIR, Kanon(2006) and Clannad; famous for their music and drama sequences. Made in production in the year 2000 with the anime coming in 2005, AIR manages to strike gold but at the same time losing its search to a greater success.
Don't get me wrong, the anime does deserve a higher grade due to the music and the great story it has; 7.3 seems insulting

for an important anime like this. Tori no Uta was probably one of the most played songs back in 2005-2006 and the artstyle while goofy by today's standards, i think it portrayed the best version of moe ever. So why the low scores?
It comes down to mostly one thing: 12 episode format. This format was unsual at the time; deemed very short which shows on its episodes content. Usually you will see half baked scenes that deserved much more attention...a lot of times the episode is at least 10 minutes of irrelevant talking such as same type of interactions between characters(daily conversation) and around 7 minutes of actual story. This proved to be harming for the series given that it made the story very confusing as it never has a 100% conclusion to what it has to say; either you pay attention or you need to google the answer. Not just the story but characters suffered aswell from the short episode format: ALL the characters exist because the story needs the feel of sadness for it to stay relevant; only Misuzu is the one you can at least sympathize.
Though the anime isn't terrible, its good but its confusing. If you understand the story itself, you'll feel rewarded with well executed sad and emotional scenes but at the same time dissapointed on how forgettable the anime might be due to the characters. An important anime lost in time, in the breeze of the summer.

I never had the intentions of watching this anime but after i heard it was about gaming, i knew i just had to see what creativity lies in here. Fun or not, gaming is what you will hear the most in episodes, should you watch it that is....too annoying even but i will explain that more detailed as we go through.
So we meet Fumiya Tomozaki, a lowlife who spends his days playing Smash...so much that he's the number 1 player in Japan. After one match with the number 2, the two of them decide to meet and...its one of the girls in his class. Normally,

she gets embarassed and pretty dissapointed that he was the number 1..so she decides to help him get better in life after COMPLETELY saying she was terrified of him...where does this make sense? No matter; now our "hero" with the helpful tips from Hinami Aoi(his classmate), is trying to be a somebody and try to "beat" this game called life. Essencially, this is an educating anime for those who probably feel like this..but honestly this is an insult. They make this situation look too easy like as "you do this and that's it, you're the best"...its not always like that you know? Lots of people struggle with this shut-in problem, some feel terrified about opinions on what other people might have on them and others perhaps had some experiences in life that, unfortunately, led them be like that...but this anime throws that fact out of the window by using its "facts and logic"("you do this and that's it, you're the best"). The problem with this anime is that it gets decent...on the last episodes.
I get it, this anime most likely will have more seasons as we go but that glimpse of what's to come only shows very rarely; clearly Tomozaki is growing to be a better person but those scenes show up very rarely in the anime and gives more focus to other character's problems..hasn't our MC suffered enough in his life? I don't think he would be capable of understanding other people's issues when he can't even fix his(if he ever had issues either way). If the trend from episode 11 continues, perhaps this turns out to be a good show afterall.
Characters are too uninspired. There's tons of girls and yet not a single one where i can be satisfied with; either they don't have screentime or they just talk nonsense that doesn't interest anyone. Regarding Tomozaki more, often you will see him say "I suck at this game of life."; "I want to become a better player at this." ; "Her level is too high...", can't they tone down with the gaming talk...its making this anime more cringy every time i watch it(biased opinion, you can discount that from this review.)
Art is pretty dissapointing, sure it looks alright but they cut perhaps the best scenes that the manga had and replaced them with generic boring normal things...this is where all the "gaming" content could have been presented like in the manga. Animation is quite decent, nothing out of the regular. Music is nothing special too, the opening and the ending sound quite upbeat but other than that, its as generic as it could be.
So should you watch this anime? Frankly, depends how the second season goes or how the story in the manga is because i can't recommend this at all. The best compliment that i can give to this anime is that the voice acting is quite good but other than that, better stick to the manga; its not a huge step up but its a better experience than what you see from this animation. Dissapointing.

It pains me to see how very few people have watched this new season. In case you don't remember, there hasn't been a new season since 2015 but along the way, there was a movie to experience...yet i felt that i hadn't seen enough of these girls; i wanted to see what new experiences SILVER LINK. can bring with this set of characters, the wait was killing me! But alas, it is finally here. 6 years we waited and what's the result? Perhaps perfection is enough to say it. Non Non Biyori is probably the most underrated anime there is; so few know about it
...
and those who tasted it will tell you wonders. Each episode is a masterclass of imagination with these lovable characters; the best example would be putting a pair of handcuffs on one of the girl's hands and even the impossible can happen. They also feel very nostalgic, often will you see the characters doing childish stuff or learning new things everyday...for me, its a throwback to when i was little, always wondering if this day could bring me new adventures...a mutual feeling now, really.
Characters are, like i said, very lovable. Each one of them are very quirky; they all act the same...at random. This is why i love them, you can never guess what things they will do even if you try your best to learn about them. Renge is the best example of this, you can do millions of things with her and it will always fit her character due to how well executed the comedy writting takes effect on her.
Art is perfect, a great vision of the countryside i would like and the character design is aswell pretty good, love the way these characters look. They even take 1-3 minutes of the episode just to show empty spaces of the scenery; wether its the sky, water, flowers, animals, this anime has you covered. Music is again one of its highest points, its always something simple like a flute but very soothing to hear. Opening and ending musics are quite plesant aswell, they fit the scenery and the calmness that the anime gives you. Voice acting is a high note, they have fun in what they do and feel connected to these girls.
This is why Non Non Biyori is the best at its type(Slice of Life); its capable of portraying the nostalgia of the stuff we used to do as kids while also presenting us the beautiful countryside of Japan.
So, should you watch this 3rd season? HELL YES! Having the same style as the previous seasons, this one kicks it up a notch and makes nostalgia a dream for the future. I just wish i could go back to simpler times and enjoy life as these girls. Thank you for this experience.

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS
Lately i've been discovering the wonders of this series; even went of my way to read the entire manga and came very satisfied with it...but unfortunately, i can only rate what i've witnessed so far. As we saw from the previous season, its not a normal harem, rather it focuses more on knowing our characters to prepare the other genre its also known for...Romance.
If you have read the manga, i really consider you giving this a try; you know the story but you don't know how are they going to present us the story. To me, the voice actors are having fun
...
with this project due to how dedicated they make the characters feel like; Miku(the voice actor) sounds so cute when performing Miku's shy attitude; Ayana's voice makes you feel teased due to Nino's personality...i could go on for days regarding the voice acting. Art is very faithful to the manga which frankly, i wouldn't change a bit. With the new studio designing the art, its a major step-up from before; the characters now look more detailed(so much so that uesugi changed eye colours), more mature and the overall scenery has improved with its vibrant colors and homage to through the details of the manga. Of course...there are downsides but i can only think of one so far..which is the skipping scenes. Not that some are that relevant but to me, it's more in line to what the manga once was... and even if they were to do this more often, you'd need to have in mind that they also skipped some important scenes in the 1st season...but its too early to judge that.
*If you haven't read the manga, then you should totally continue to watch this series. If you've watched the 1st season and thought it was boring...in a way, i would agree with you. But now, they aren't pulling jokes. With a better animating studio and with the story finally having some progress on what it's truly supposed to be, there's no going wrong. Trust me, you'il finally begin to love characters that you may have thought as worthless due to how well they were developed to be and how the voice acting will amaze you.
With news of an "anime ending" due to how long the manga is, i couldn't help but to feel dissapointed...but at the same time im quite interested on what might be.
Either way, i love these 5 girls. They, in a way..define my feelings. I hope too they can catch your heart.
