Good, currently in Guelph doing a fieldwork placement. Definitely won't ever get used to waking up at 6:45AM everyday.

Last time we chatted it was about your mom and what you wanted to study. Has anything changed?

You have strong motivations, which means you have potential to achieve your goals. Often nowadays people have no goals (I was kind of like that in my undergrad years) and it led to some confusion to what I want to do in the future. I might be a naive optimistic when I say this but, painful or traumatic events can have its positives too (as long as they aren't too painful or too traumatic). It allows the room to truly grow.

I've only made aware of bipolar personality disorder last year, and it truly can be an unfortunate thing. Especially for a child to have experienced others with the symptom. I'm surprised you're positive about it. I'd imagine kids to have despised their parents if they acted that way when they didn't know any better. Some people are born and experience unfortunate events. Some will end up worse. Some can be empowered by it. Grows up and matures quicker. It seems you belong in this latter group. It's nice when this anime is uplifting, isn't it? I'd watch it.

(lol I made this comment really corny meh)

Yeah... OSAP is kind of weird in how it almost feels like discrimination against people who work. I've heard of a similar case with a student in my class.

Ouch, single parent. I had a feeling since you weren't mentioning your father... that's unfortunate. I've come to realize throughout talking to other people how fortunate I am myself. My parents are still together, they are middle-class income earners, and they're caring people. Not a lot of people have this luxury. It would suck even more if your mother got an injury, like your case. Was that a strong motivator to you getting a job, do you think, or have you had a job already before this happened?

I think teaching in English in Japan can be realistically fulfilled at some point. I know a good friend who went there to teach English and he graduated from Dalhousie with a degree in Finance so... it seems there's not really a strong requirement for teaching there lol As for neurology.... Neuroscience is difficult. Where did this dream originate from?

thats odd, i watched (an for the most part liked) that series, i dont remember any scene like that

Hmm... my mom also injured her foot during her work but fortunately it wasn't a serious injury. She took her sick days and went through physiotherapy and occupational therapy (promoting my own profession sup) and these new shoes that was covered by her employment insurance. It sounds like you're in a difficult situation though. Are you saying you have to take care of her financially as well thus you're working and not in school?

Is there no way to compromise between your dreams and work? (what is your dream(s) btw?)
I honestly don't know what type of person I'd be like during work. Probably the one who wants to do the least amount of work, lol.

I liked Baccano a lot for that non-chronological story telling. Reminded me of Tarantino's stuff like Pulp Fiction, if you know what I'm talking about lol The same people made Durarara! which is kind of similar to Baccano. Large cast, lots of point of views, etc.

Are you satisfied with this job? I say if you want to go back to school you should, once you saved enough money that is. Although I don't know how old you are or your expectations in life.

I don't know about courage, we all (my classmates) chose these profession because we want to be in health care and help people. I myself actually have like zero working experience so it will be very interesting how I'll end up after graduation lol I always end up praising people who started to work at a young age. It seems they're way more mature in this area than myself.

Hmm, my immediate relatives (my parents, their siblings, their parents) all are still married so I guess I'm naively optimistic about it despite poor statistics in Canada (they're all Chinese so, I guess the different culture makes a difference.)

I'm in a graduate program studying Occupational Therapy. Most people don't know what it is, but in a nutshell, we often work in rehabilitation and enabling people to do activities they once enjoyed doing or enjoyed the independence of doing it themselves. What about you? Are you studying or working or?

I see where you're coming from. The Clannad characters often had eyes wayyy too big. Ever heard of the anime Steins;gate? I think you can take a peak at that one since it had pretty unconventional characters as well. And the plot was intriguing, to say the least. It has a certain non-chronological order like Baccano had, and is focused on time-travelling. I do have to warn that the first few episodes can be super confusing and it starts a bit slow.

I was reading your comment on marriage:
OtakuAthena said:
Agreed, society killed all hope for an ideal marriage to last. Within 2-3 years (in Ontario) most couples file a divorce. Maybe, in time my opinion will change but for now I personally don't believe in it.
I don't think it's that bad. If you look up our statistics:
http://www4.hrsdc.gc.ca/.3ndic.1t.4r@-eng.jsp?iid=76

"In 2008, 40.7% of marriages were projected to end in divorce before the thirtieth wedding anniversary." The 30th anniversary. I'd assume after only 2-3 years, there would be much less than 40% that will file for a divorce, hardly would it qualify for "most people". You could be more optimistic on this one!

I actually only moved to London this year for school. My home is still in Toronto. And it's like 2 hours of driving, sucks. I need to leech off my friend's car to go home lol As for MAL, I've been here for like... gee 6 years already. I've met all kind of friendly people here though, and it becomes easy after a while to ignore the trolls that seem so rampant nowadays.

And woah, you gave Clannad a 5? ;_; I thought it was kind of similar to Toradora?
Tachii Sep 28, 2014 7:31 AM
I'm in London Ontario, as my profile indicates lol

You seem like the optimistic/cheerful sort on the forums. A rarity these days with the trolling/sarcastic population of MAL. How did you find MAL?
