Hello there - seems like I popped up due to Steins;Gate as well. I do agree that with a rating of 9.18 it does seem like a masterpiece but honestly... I kinda feel it gets too much credit. Where was the complex storyline? It was actually rather straightforward and actually got boring when Mayuri kept dying again and again - plus, they missed the butterfly effect completely! By sending two messages, by trying to alter a setting that was previously altered, you WILL NOT necessarily get the old thing back. And that is a MAJOR plot hole.

Then reading your review I am kind of worried... how were the characters developed well? They were actually rather 1-D with very few instances of them showing different opinions, approach, emotions. I actually watched the entire series 2 times and still find it hard to remember the characters haha. But ah well, each to their own. I have to complete Ano hi Mita hana and it is certainly annoying at many times. The fact that she CAN interact with real space (she made cookies - don't tell me he actually made them due to schizophrenia XD) however he is still unable to make anyone believe she is there. At least don't SAY that she is there if you don't want to prove it. However that is till 6 episodes.

You have some interesting animes in the dropped list. I wonder if they made a first bad impression or it just didn't kick...

Hey there

Nice Steins;Gate review! It seems that we have the same genre of anime. What I don't get is that Akashi is one of your favorite characters. He always is so mysterious and we almost don't know anything of him (or maybe you know more because of the manga).

A serie you might like is bakuman. It is about 2 boys that wanted to become mangaka. It is from the same autors as Death Note. There both shounen series that are insanly exciting while they doesn't have any (real) fights. If you like to see my thoughts over it in more detail. Feel free to take a look at my review. :)

Good review on Steins;Gate! (:

No worries! :)
Yeah I get what you're saying and I get that feeling too! Each Youkai is so distinct and special in your own way ranging from Goofyness to pretty depressing ones, but they're all so captivating. What makes this series so good though is just how much of interpretation and symbolism is left up to the viewers. Yes we know that at the end of each encounter that Natsume learned something, but it's really up to the viewer to decide what the overall message was after an encountering with the Youkai and I think they do it really well. Also the tone and feel of it is just simply astonishing. I think the overall calmness and quiet mood of the series just makes it more emotional.

Nice! Let me know overall how your Natsume experience is then if and when you finish the series! :D Thanks and Enjoy!

Yeah, I've heard about Yuno. xD That's partly why I want to watch it. I want to witness this psychotic character.
Do you like yandere characters?

HOTARUBI IS THE BEST, I AGREE. D:
And Gin kinda reminds me of Takashi haha. <3

Hey, I just read your Natsume review and I gotta say, I loved it! :) You did a pretty good job summing up exactly what's so amazing about it! As a person currently watching it right now, I see your points and I also have the bittersweet and kinda sad feeling after the end of each episode.. :'( My only concern is that not in general with Natsume but with episodic series, there really is not much room for plot development but theres still 3 more seasons after this one so I might be just biting my words xD What was your take on it?
koyuki Oct 15, 2013 2:00 PM
Hahaha, you're very welcome. ^o^ I see Hotarubi no Mori e in your favourites. Man, that film gave me the MAJOR feels.

I've heard Mirai Nikki is annoying, and I'm kinda scared about it. I don't really mind yandere characters, it's major or badly done tsundere characters that bug the hell out of me. o^o

Chihayafuru LOOKS amazing, and I've gotten only positive reviews from people. My expectations for that show are pretty high now.. which may be a bad or good thing.. D: Hopefully it's good. ^o^

Hi! I loved your Natsume Yuujinchou review. ^o^ It's one of the best series I've watched and it's nice to see people appreciate it. ;_;

I came here just to say that your profile picture is super cute.

Very good reviews, even though I disagreed with SnK :)

Oh, another review for me to devour, how splendid. I kid, of course.

Your review on Attack on Titan started out well! Then it kind of went downhill from there. A list of huge complaints from me regarding the review:

1. Don't mention specific groups of people! That's technically against Review Guidelines! Keep your personal thoughts about the SnK haters to yourself, and try not to mention anything related to this site. You're not reviewing the activity among this site, are you?

2. Don't make a list of negatives before actually going into a review! Just go on and explain the flaws that you found with the anime within your review! This looks unprofessional and hasty, among other things.

3. Please don't list specific episodes in order to spite those who find the animation for SnK flawed. I don't care, and neither does anyone else.

4. This line: "If you've read all the way down to the bottom of this review, then i both congratulate you and apologize for writing so much ( it feels like a lot to me, anyways)." Don't apologize to the reader! This makes you seem weak. You are not weak; you are the reviewer! Reviewers are supposed to be the strong ones, as the readers are the fish they try to pull in with their bait writing! Okay, that sounded fishy. Regardless, don't appear weak. If they have a problem with the length of the review, then they don't have to read it. They'll live.

Other than those points, the only things I see wrong with your review is your inability to describe what makes the sound good. That's excusable because sound isn't that important, anyway. :]

Also, i's on their own are capitalized. Always.

A decent review.

An interesting review... though I would recommend not highlighting the anime's place here on the site, as that's technically breaking MAL Review Guidelines.

About the review itself, it was okay. It was developed to an extent and it seems you were able to pinpoint the most enjoyable parts of the series.

The thing is, right after the character section, your review begins to shrink. It becomes shorter and shorter and shorter with each following paragraph, which is a concern for me. While sound is excusable, since I don't normally listen to sound myself, the art section needs to be improved as well. All you say is that it's great and you didn't notice any flaws in its quality. So... what? What makes it great? What can the viewer expect? Any particular thing about it that you can highlight? Like the lighting of scenes in certain scenarios or the character designs? Anything?

I'm not sure why you even added a paragraph specifically covering how amazing the ending was. Not to mention that the paragraph consisted of only two sentences. I would think that would belong up in the paragraph about plot, or completely void it out if necessary.

I suppose the last paragraph is satisfactory, if not very short and straight forward. One other thing that got me about your review is the lack of flaws. By this, I mean you never point out anything wrong with the series. Is it literally perfect? Or could you just find absolutely nothing wrong with it? I don't want to think that you're crossing into fanboy territory, but you're not helping your cause by only stating the positives and overhyping them.

Whatever the case, it wasn't worth a Helpful, but it's good enough not to warrant a Not Helpful. Just try to put as much effort in every category of a review instead of just a minimal two. Oh, and be sure to fill in the necessary amount of sentences to form a paragraph (+4). Reading those itty bitty mini-paragraphs didn't help me enjoy reading it. Hopefully my advice helps you in the long run. Until then!
