As soon as I decided to watch it, I thought I would like it, but I knew absolutely nothing about what the anime was about, so I was surprised with every episode, it was very impactful for me and I got hooked on the anime.
Starting with the narrative, which in the very first episode, and also in its pilot "death biliard", is presented from the perspective of the people who are thrown into that bar and don't know anything, just as those watching don't understand what's going on either, it's a great introduction to the anime, even if that couple, or the two characters, aren't

the protagonists, starting with their perspective was, in my view, a success.
After that, we start to follow Decim and Chiyuki's point of view, which until then didn't have a name, but now we're familiar with what's going on, and we're seeing it from another point of view, from the point of view of those who judge, and as the anime progresses, other points of view are presented, and this is used very well to immerse us, reveal and hide mysteries and contribute to the subtext of the story.
This narrative shows a lot of the Kishotenketsu that the Japanese use, "narrative without conflict", because at no point in the anime do we have a conflict to be resolved, or a villain to be fought, there are no villains or heroes here, just judges and their defendants.
About the characters. I dare say that the anime fits in with character driver, because the characters are the only focus throughout the anime, and even those who are extras in the episodic stories still have a good amount of depth, they're not completely shallow and empty to the point where we don't care about their presence or their stories, nor are they too deep because they're just a bridge to deepen the story and the two protagonists.
And about its subtext and message, I have to say that in the last episode I cried, there have been times when I've thought about taking my own life, and watching this anime was a punch in the gut, it made me reflect a little. The anime shows that no matter what we think of our lives, when we are faced with death, we embrace life, we regret what we have done or can't do, we mourn for those who remain, and we give thanks for what was good, a beautiful message transposed in a sublime way.
VERDICT:
The anime has an engaging narrative, and a deep message, its characters are functional and manage to convey reality and humanity in a natural way, it is visually beautiful, I highly recommend watching it, maybe my score is high because I watched it recently, but still, I think it's very good

first of all, before analyzing the film, I have to ask myself what makes a good story? is it to have good characters? a good plot? a creative universe? a good development? or a good message to be said? it may not need all of these for a story to be good, but it definitely needs to have something good in it.
now let's analyze all this in tenshi no tamago.
CHARACTERS: the characters practically don't exist, according to Syd field in the book The Screenplay Manual, the essence of the character is action. in other words, the character is what he does, and action is not

fighting, but acting and reacting, taking decisions. moreover, it needs to be well defined both the internal and external aspects of what will be told to the viewers of the story, as well as its biography. the characters in tenshi no tamago don't act, don't react, don't change anything, there is no progression, no history or past, we don't know anything about them, they don't even have names. the film introduces them in a context but doesn't deepen them at all, how does it want us to care about what happens to the characters if they practically don't exist?
WORLD: The universe is a post apocalyptic place, with strange things like shadows and war tanks passing by, which indicates that the place has a history, but nothing is said about it, which is the same problem as with the characters.
Plot: there is no plot, the girl simply walks around the place filling a jug of water for 40 minutes without any dialogue, and when it happens, they are only symbolic. In the end, the only really important scene in the movie is the man breaking the egg and seeing that there is nothing inside.
but if you think "the movie is not about any of this, so it doesn't need to develop", which brings us to the next topic
MESSAGE: the "message" of the movie, which is something totally interpretative, where each person interprets it as he wants, I've seen someone interpreting that the movie is a metaphor for pedophilia. In truth the film is only an allegory for Oshi's personal experience and his loss of belief in God, that is, the film doesn't mean anything, it's only 70 minutes long to show how Oshi saw it, there is almost nothing in the film that really wants to say something, teach something, make people reflect, people draw their own conclusions from the film, but it is intrinsically empty and doesn't mean anything, because each person understands it in a different way.
CONCLUSION: the movie has no plot, no good characters, no world, no development, and says nothing at any time. what he tried to do could be just a 5 minute conversation but he made a 70 minute movie about it
