Anyway, thank you for the review!
I'm not pushing you to like No. 6, nor am I making fun of your judgement- I was just wondering about your reasoning. This isn't meant to be an attack or 'persuasive,' and not ounce did I (or do I intend to) claim your opinion was wrong-I'm just challenging your view with mine, which is the kind of thing you should expect when you publish a review.
I don't think Bones 'screwed the anime up' -if the show was exactly the same as the novel, it would be completely predictable therefore the change brought something new to the franchise. I think the prospect you didn't like was that the characters spent too much time together instead of actually being motivated, right? I agree... but I think that works well because the viewer spends so much time understanding the characters and getting to know how they think and feel, it makes the correctional facility scene more moving-if Rat took Shion to the correctional facility as a stranger or had an offscreen relationship with him, it wouldn't affect the viewer as much when he died. It does shift the genre of the story into a male friendship/yaoi based arena, but I don't think you can say something's 'bad' just because you personally don't like the genre-it's kinda like watching hentai then giving it a 1 on the basis its indecent.
I'm in the process of looking up translations of the novel because I agree wholeheartedly the plot didn't make sense. Elyurias felt unnecessary to me because they could have easily turned her into a virus that came through the bracelets or something more believable-an 'all powerful god of nature' that causes innocent people to randomly age several years after her shrine was destroyed by planting bee's in their neck then being channelled by a sixteen year old girl is incredibly clumsy.
I also didn't make fun of you for liking MN-I rated the show 7, so making fun of someone for liking it would be ridiculous. I just said the paradox didn't make sense, and there were a lot of holes and absurdities in the plot because I don't think anyone can deny that there was. The only reason I brought up the comparison was because you said the plot for No. 6 didn't make sense-not making sense is usually a common feature for animes and doesn't usually drag down the rating, which was why I thought it was strange you drew attention to it.
...
I'm kidding... but seriously thou, 3 is codespeak for bad... I'm kinda curious to the tone you take.
IMO, the animation isn't bad and regarding anime standards it's surprisingly believable. (I see you watched MN and I don't think theres any way on earth you can say their plot makes more sense than No. 6)
I'll give you that the part about Safu is basically BS (which I'm surprised you didn't cover) but she's a plot device to Nezumi and Shion's relationship, which is the centre fold of the show, yaoi or not No.6 is basically about them.(It's categorised as a sci-fii but bones are fooling NOONE by calling it that) so I can understand your view if you watched it thinking it would be a futuristic mystery. Still, I think a 'trainwreck' is a bit of a stretch, thou.
I'm not patronizing you, or anything, I just wanted to know your reasoning. Each to their own, right? Anyway, have a good day. ~
I watched the 1st episode and was stuck there and i thought it would be exciting story till' the end , but after reading your reviews , and others , I think I already knew the ending :/
I agree, the first few episode were good but after that it just went downhill.
