I only heard of TAS after another friend I know wrote a review on which TAS commented. My friend basically told him to get out and quit promoting himself on my friends blog. Either way I put little stock in the opinion of anyone who prides themselves in calling them a snob of animated entertainment.
It's a little depressing seeing people watch ThatAnimeSnob's video review of Your Name and take his judgment without making one for themselves. Calling a highly acclaimed film shitty because some other guy said so without bothering to see it for yourself - to me that's the epitome of intellectual laziness.
In the face of people bitching about Kimi no Na wa's MAL score being unrepresentative, I find it funny how the movie's score has settled exactly back to where it used to be now that people are looking at the pirated release.
So, I have an excel spreadsheet with the formulas for how MAL calculates scores, but if you were curious, using just the ratings that Kimi no Na wa has currently (without taking into account users which have completed it), the raw score has hovered between 9.13-9.15 and its weighted score has hovered between 8.95 and 9.02 between several weeks ago and now. So I would expect it to settle around that range once the movie gets a wide release.
