Kyouko is vile. That I'm not denying. But there is something interesting, and magnetically attractive about the way she carries herself. Not to mention, reasons exist as to why she turned out the way she did, thus making her the most compelling character in 3-gatsu.

I think it would be too much to expect her to grow up and develop past her current state. She lacks any kind of role model that would allow her to do this, and even got herself wrapped up in a destructive relationship with Gotou. The way she lacks any kind of support, akin to what Rei gets from the Kawamoto sisters, really doesn't do her any kind of favours.

About using her energies to deal with her father and move on, if someone really wronged you and wouldn't admit it, would you even want to talk to them, let alone see their face? It's not as simple as you have put it. This is especially the case in Asian culture, where the father of a family cares a lot about appearances and pride, and would never admit to being wrong. Maybe you've taken it for granted, if you have had a nice family and all, but it's not so easy to communicate with a parent when you feel estranged.

I disagree that Kyouko will learn from a hard fall. She's already in the middle of a really destructive fall with Gotou, and so far, she's gained nothing from it. What will help Kyouko learn, is if she can find people to rely on and be supported by, like what Rei gets from the Kawamoto sisters. It's not about revenge. It's not about getting a taste of one's own medicine. It's about saving someone who has strayed onto the wrong path.

To surmise, calling Kyouko a bully is actually an understatement. She is a sick and twisted human being as a result of being broken. Yet she has redeeming qualities too. You cannot say she doesn't care about Rei. Contrary to what her words may suggest, she goes to check on him all the time, and hugs him too. Rei doesn't really talk to many people in the series, but he always seems to be able to have conversations on a deep level with Kyouko. If you've noticed, he's actually a lot more open with her, than he is with the Kawamoto sisters. The relationship they have is really strange, but it does have some intimate sibling qualities to it.

It alarms me that you want to see Kyouko suffer. From my perspective, that doesn't make you much better than Kyouko herself, who also wishes suffering onto Rei. In fact, she is still shown to care about Rei in her own weird way, whereas you've not shown her any kind of sympathy. So, please have more empathy for Kyouko. I don't know if you're projecting yourself onto Rei, but I think the point is that the situation is a lot more complicated than you've made it out to be. The careful and intricate interactions between these characters are meant to slowly flesh out their developments in order to progress the story. Just take your time and enjoy 3-gatsu.
