I'm not here to write up a game changing review or anything, just here to share a (potentially) hot take:
I really liked the ending.
I'll try to be vague, and won't give details/spoilers or anything but many people argue that the ending came out of nowhere, and it definitely did. Some events happen in just a couple sentences that absolutely could've benefitted from some more pages. But I think that was the point.
I'm only in my mid twenties, so I have a lot of life still yet to experience (barring any sudden bad twists), but I have learned very quickly that life happens very, very fast.

I gotta admit... I came for the fanservice, but I stayed for the rest.
Hiro Mashima gets a lot of flack for writing the same story over and over again, with immense amounts of fanservice and perversion, with vapid characters that all look the same (looking at you Happy, Lucy, Natsu/HAPPY, Rebecca, Shiki, to name a few), and it's totally warranted. He does. He absolutely does. ...But at the end of the day, you know what they say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Absolutely, his story isn't for everyone. Definitely. But it is for me, and that's what I'm here to say. Mashima can write ... |
