I love anime, and consider myself an anime-enthusiast and enjoyer. I don't identify with labels such as "otaku", but they may apply depending on your definition. I greatly enjoy books, movies and games as well, but you could say that anime is my medium of choice. When push comes to shove, this is where I most often turn for a quality experience. There's something very unique about the medium; the combination of fantastic voice-acting, peerless visuals and fabulous storytelling is what keeps me coming back for more.
Other than anime, I'm into playing old, cherished video games, pen and paper roleplaying, spending time with friends and watching movies, horror in particular. I'm also interested in history, nature, mythology/religion and language. Naturally, I also love music. In addition to anime-related music and J-rock, I love hard rock, metal (especially classic metal), game soundtracks, as well as classical music. I also love artists who are musical storytellers. Some of my favorites include include Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash and Nick Cave.
I usually don't add one-episode ovas or short specials (3 minute omake etc) that belong with other series, as they tend to just inflate the list and make it hard to navigate. If I've seen a series, chances are I've seen the accompanying ovas as well, even if the list doesn't reflect this.
Here is an estimation of what my ratings reflect:
10: Masterpiece ~ A sublime masterpiece, unforgettable favorites
9: Fantastic ~ An inspired show, nothing but the best
8: Excellent ~ An overwhelmingly positive show with high quality all around
---
7: Very good ~ A show with several great qualities, often worth re-watching
6: Good (ish) ~ A show which leaves an overall positive impression, worth watching
5: Average ~ An average show, likely a balance of good and bad qualities
4: Mediocre ~ Uninspired, lacking in one or more ways, might still be fun
3: Bad ~ Bland and/or offensively stupid
2: Horrible ~ The worst shows end up here, steer clear! Nothing redeemable
1: Abominable ~ Uwe Boll presents! (Never given, I've dropped anything I found this bad)
I'll add that simply because I've given something a low rating doesn't necessarily mean I didn't enjoy it, nor does a high rating necessarily mean that I find the show to be flawless and beyond dispute. Anything is up for debate, and I like to think I have pretty thick skin when it comes to people disagreeing with my taste in anime.

Yeah lol you have great taste in anime. Although I just watch anything that's on an anime chart. :p
And nice to meet you.

Oh, it's okay. That happens to me sometimes.
Hmm, sometimes I do rate things low, but I end up enjoying them in some way or another. For example, I do not by any means think Pokemon is high art at all--it tends to be repetitive and directionless--butI love it with all my anime-fan-ness. I can't help it; I suspect it's because I loved it as a child which is why I still enjoy it up to now.
Different, huh? Should be worth checking out. Romance has been bogged down by sap and predictability, so a change would be nice...
Hate the lead?? Well, as long as he's not like Yuuichi Tate from Mai-HiME, then I guess it's worth a shot.

Thanks for accepting the request.
I see you're watching Itazura na Kiss. How is that going for you? You don't have a rating, so I can't glean any opinion of yours. It seemed...I am not sure. It didn't have that defining 'oomph', if you may, that would incline me to watch it.
Does it have oomph?

Oh definitely. I can't think of anything right at the moment that looked great but sucked terribly. If there are any I've seen, they escape me at the moment. I have seen the 'looks great, bores me' variety. Ergo Proxy and Witch Hunter Robin being two prime examples. I mean, I don't think either is bad, per se, I just am not interested in philosophical musings of a woman who needs sunlight and about the hunting escapades of one who needs a new hair stylist.

You giggled--I cringed.
I dunno, I am particularly attracted to anime by character design. Once I think it's good, I will watch the anime regardless of plot. And I end up dropping some :D You know, the whole 'pretty face, empty head' ordeal.
I am inclined to minimalist art styles. Clean lines, simple. For example, I think Mushi-Shi had great character design.

You may be right about Kiddy Grade, Ive heard many people say its not a good series. I never saw a problem with it though, but im probbaly not the best person to give recomendations as there is very little Anime i "don't" like.

Well, I know very, very little about Kiddy Grade. And I've been told countless times "Don't knock it til you've tried it." which is true, since I end up liking quite a few series that I assumed from a superficial level that I would not like it. I'll try to be fair and give things a shot! * makes ganbatte/yosh-esque fist *
It's why I ended up watching Akagi, actually. The art style had seriously put me off during the first ten minutes or so. But then I got sucked in.

Yes, I do quite enjoy Akagi even though I don't understand what the hell is going on. But I really like the atmosphere--very few anime can get you riled up and on the edge of your seat for a sport (or even on the whole, actually), far less for game that you don't even have to stand up for. I will check to Kaiji sometime soon. But I really wanna finish off all the other anime I have waiting...it really piles up.

I know this is pretty random, but I read your review on AIKa R-16, and I gotta say, it was pretty damn good. Actually, it's probably the best review I've read in a long time since you practically hit the nail on the head in every facet of the anime review (sound, character etc. etc.) I did enjoy AIKa--even if it was mindless panty-flashing. Of course, I rated it as 'Helpful'; I agreed with everything you stated. Too bad there isn't an option to select 'Damn right!' :P

Even if that's the case they didn't made anime so that people would enjoy watching it and even think of possibility that there is a reason to watch or think about the psychology of characters and anime. Well I don't really care I just written that its one of the worst animes I seen but some fangirl or fanboy made me lose my cool with insulting comment.... I'm sure my favorite Claymore is crap to some people but It's their taste, I let the say what they want.....
