Paranoia Agent - 8/10
I loved this show, it was a nice sip of fresh air after watching a few not-so-interesting titles. Good things about this show include an interesting visual narrative and art direction. Often it uses visual elements to narrate the story rather than using dialogue, although it also uses dialogue to narrate the story, but the important details are hidden in lots of non-important info which makes it feel like a detective movie, you pick up interesting details or not and then understand what it meant later.

expectations (expectations from the composer Susumu Hirasawa, whose music i had the pleasure to listen to while watching the original Berserk TV) completely. Now i was very dissapointed by the actual plot of this show. It's very simple, albeit it has a message to it (SPOILER: Face Your Problems : END SPOILER)
Aside from that the plot remains a mystery until it's simply dumped through info, you can guess what is going to happen from visual clues and foreshadowing if you have experience with anime, but it is still very intriguing until the end. There is also a "weird" factor to the plot, since it starts off in a very realistic setting, and ends in something that is rather surreal and the ending while being open to interpretation is written pretty badly in my opinion. (SPOILER: Happy end was forced, then the very last bit of the last episode hints that nothing is over, since it's the same exact scene from the first episode, but it's still in my opinion is way to forced into, it should've ended when the police officer exited the metro and found ruins of the world :END SPOILER)
In short, the ending could've been good and reminiscent of End of Evangelion but it went that extra bit to further conclude things, yet leave them open-ended still, which makes concluding things absolutely useless. The writing and dialogue however, suffer no problems what so ever, it is entertaining and interesting, however if we are going to cherry-pick here, all the characters are way too clueless, if a killer was on the loose everybody would be a bit more serious about the situation, but this may be the very definition of "Syouganai", so take that as you will.
The Suicide Trio episode is an awesome example of how narrative can make something rather simple (SPOILER: they were dead, but they ran away in their minds, thinking they are alive (wtf) : END SPOILER) because it showed things without explaining them, and only hinting at an explanation in the end.
But enough about plot.
Character Design is while may not be everyone's cup of tea, and the average SAO watcher will find them ugly while the average Studio Ghibli movie watcher will find them very reminiscent of movies like "Spirited Away", personally i found them pleasing and refreshing, it was nice to have each character was very different from each other, and that character design linked to the narrative in a way, hence all the characters looked like the typical person of their personality would, and whether you find this good or bad is entirely up to the viewer, i've found it to be both good and bad in certain situations. The quality of animation is great, but if you're getting the Blu-Ray be aware the remaster is not of very good quality, all the edges are very blurry which creates an illusion of low resolution picture, however those very same effects are generally used well to visually narrate the story and to create somewhat an atmosphere. Atmosphere, is what this show really lacks, since all the episodes are about different characters they have very different takes on the story, and consistency is not big enough of a thing here to create an atmosphere, save for maybe the 13th episode, but even that kept shifting around two different places.
I think i covered everything there is that needs attention.
The plot is simple and needs no analysis, if you have watched the show and missed anything just rewatch the last episode.

The Tatami Galaxy - 9/10
This show is vey hard to review, because this show structures itself around a meaning, a message. The story is a simple set-up of the main character entering college in search of a happy, pink-colored college life he was always dreaming of, to find an ideal girl. But soon after picking a club he gets into a lot of trouble, because of his friend Ozu building petty schemes and mad feuds, to the point he gets to the end of his two years realizing he has wasted his two years of life at college, he blames his friend, fate, or anything

that he can blame, then the narrative stops and returns back to the beginning, showing now a whole new different possibility of his life, meaning that every episode is a re-telling of the same story with a big twist as to what club he goes to or what girl he decides to get close to, all of which end in him being in despair in a very unfavorable situation and thinking that he wasted his two years of college life. Not only is this concept incredibly unique, it's also very well done with each of the stories being interesting and not boring for the most part, and the way each is narrated with constant change of art style and pacing and dialogue, this is just maybe the best ride of all times, but wait, there is more! In the last few episodes, the protagonist walks around those parallel universes made of 4.5 tatami rooms, each featuring slightly different world, slightly different him and different stories to tell, but one thing he noticed, as a contrast to his choice in the last two episodes to be a shut-in and not join any club, all the other universes' versions of him were having fun, and seemed to have life happening around them. The point here is that instead of worrying about having chosen something wrong, giving up on something and convincing yourself that there are things you can't change or affect, a person should just do things, with no regret and enjoy his life, which by the way, can't be a dream pink-colored life, but a multi-colored one, where things don't always go according to the plan, but you should never give up on them nevertheless. Don't convince yourself you can't do something. But that's not the only good thing about Tatami Galaxy.
The art style is very simplistic with little colors or detail mixed in with heavily edited actual film footage which makes it unique, and the producer used it very well.
This show keeps up a good sense of humor, especially sometimes with it's satire and generally light mood, when compared to shows like Welcome to the NHK, which passed a feeling, emotion, this one passes thought, without becoming pretentious or boring with edgy over-played drama. The soundtrack I really liked, the episode BGM is great even though sometimes repetitive, op and ending songs are both great, work really well with the animation.
The characters are very likable and unique, even though two-dimensional, but that's not the focus of the show, although the happenings around the main character are all relatable to some extent without becoming non-entertaining.
Flaws: None that i noticed, except some pacing was just slightly off.

Uzumaki - 8/10
Uzumaki is a great manga classic that even had a live-action movie adaption, while the movie was kinda of meh, I think the manga is truly timeless due to it's genre, which is Horror, and the way it utilizes horror elements to connect to the reader. The artwork has a definite style and has a great amount of detail throughout all the pages, speaking of which it's only 653 pages long, including afterwords and the lost chapter. cast of characters, which is a good thing in some ways, as it provides variety and keeps you interested, but is also a bad thing since it creates inconsistencies with the town becoming full of mysteries yet no one believes anything that is slightly not normal. The stories themselves need a bit more atmosphere and tension to them, but this really depends on your taste of horror. If you like atmospheric horror like Silent Hill and stuff with it's own unique world, then you probably won't like this very much, maybe you will enjoy the last 10 chapters which I will talk about later. But if you like sort of more of a creepypasta-esque approach to horror, (chapter 3,5,6,7,8,10) which is less so atmospheric, but more actually creepy much more relatable to real life and very bizarre in their scares and stories, this was certainly my favorite part, and if you like this kind of stuff, then this manga is for you although I think this manga is worth checking out to everyone just thanks to the artwork and the amount of "weird" this manga has. Now the last 7 chapters were way less horror and much more of a conclusion to the story, and generally more story, like the first two chapters, except well, not very scary or entertaining.
The ending, in my opinion was way too stretched out with very little substance added to the story or any horror provided, aside from the whole concept of why were the horrors happening, which wasn't so entertaining, and I'd rather have a much less clear explanation of it or something more mysterious and vague rather than an explanation the characters pulled out of their asses, at least it was no happy end and it made sense within the story.

This is an opinon of someone who has never read the manga, please keep that in mind while reading this review.
Berserk - 8/10
This show, is definitely a must watch. The art is excellent for the time, and those who feel nostalgic will enjoy this artwork throughout, though most animation suffers from low framerate and lots of stillshots, but it's not really THAT often to pull down the overall quality.
Soundtrack i really enjoyed, it's really good, although there isn't a lot of it, and i feel like the animators may have not used the soundtrack as good as they should've, but definitely the Opening and the

Ending are awesome and get you ready for the next episode, the song during battles is amazing, very energetic and unique, while BGM during psychological scenes or drama scenes or scenes about character's thoughts carefully add to the feel of the scenes are supposed to have, therefore making the experience for the viewer much more memorable and the dialogue have much more impact.
The story follows around a mercenary guy - Gatts, as he joins a squad of other mercenaries but with a goal to get up to the top, their leader, Griffith wants to become the king, and so their road begins.
In a nutshell, it's a midievil action show with simple characters who are mostly 2-dimensional being defined by one main characteristic or a relationship with another character. Gatts gets some kind of thought scenes, as he tries to find the purpose of his existence and his very own Raison d’être, maybe his own dream to follow like Griffith. Towards the end Griffith gets a lot of depth, while there was build up to it through Casca's story arc, but at the end it really shows who he is and what he needs to do in order to succeed to his dream, although he is horrified by it.
It's very obvious the story is inspired by Shakespeare, even the imagery is very simillar, or just the setting at least, midevil with demons and sacred artifacts aswell as sex, violence, lies and secrets all to go with the struggle for power and war and murdering left and right. That is exactly Shakespeare, but it has a japanese tone to it, as in most characters behave more like what you would expect from a Japanese manga, so one could suggest, that on an analytical level, Berserk is a bridge between Shakespeare and Manga. One thing i kind of hated about the story was the ending, i wanted a conclusion at least to some extent, but this was just definitely something way too open for interpretation, as you have no idea what happened to Gatts later on, apart from the first episode where it practically shows you him defeating a demon, but that's still very open-ended, my prediction is he probably continued roaming earth and defeating demons.
Overall, the action in this show is entertaining, the artstyle is perfect for this type of show, due to it's dark nature, soundtrack does a good job of keeping things interesting and dynamic, the pacing is off at times, but normally it's ok. The show lacks a unique concept as far as i can tell and the ending is just not right, and as i said there are issues with pacing and the show isn't really smart or complex or anything, so i think it's fair to give it a 8/10.
But as i said above, it's a must-watch, the actual experience that you get from watching this is unforgettable and will change the way you look at shows forever. The new movies i haven't watched but i'm planning to do so, not because the story is THAT intriguing, not really, the show was more like "it had it's moments" rather than awesome all the way through, and at the end i was getting slightly bored (that is, before the last episode), i like this show, but i'm not a fan of it, i think 26th episode should've been there to conclude things up, and not three fucking movies full of CGI.

Hitsugi no Chaika - Avenging Battle - 7/10
Before we start, let me warn you, Hitsugi no Chaika was my first ever anime, so keep it in mind while reading this review.
Short Review:
Art is ok, budget is kinda low but at least it's watchable so, it lacks CGI or cinematic effects so, to be fair it's a 6/10
Sound is ok, voice actors really did push some unique voices and personalities, the episode BGM is bland, but the Opening and Ending makes up for it so 7/10
Characters don't really have any depth whatsoever, but they are likable, maybe not as likable as say Cowboy Bebop, but still
...
close enough so a 6/10. Another thing is that Chaika is neither as moe or as adorable as she was in the first season, particularly because 10 episodes left barely any time for her development and dialogue.
Enjoyment factor really stands out as all the action scenes have nice choreography and are all animated good, again, nothing too special but good is good, besides, the pacing in this show is fast and the plot unravels quickly so the overall dynamic is enjoyable, both here and in the first season in fact, straight 8/10 in that department.
Story is good, the lore is big and clever, while it may not be deep or hard to comprehend like in some other adventure/journey style shows like Ergo Proxy as an example, it is still quite a big universe and the world of chaika is an interesting experience, along with numerous new, to the fantasy genre concepts such as getting magic from memories and without spoiling too much the creature designs are very interesting and how they interact in the world. The actual plot is quite simple at the start, mostly really just finishing what first season started while throwing in plot twists up untill the end where all mysteries are solved and the show rapidly concludes itself wrapping up the story and coming to a complete closure, so i think the story, albeit simple, is enjoyable and deserves a fair 7/10.
Long Review (or rather an extension to the short one):
First of all, the ART is good, nothing too awesome, but it's ok, it's slightly worse than Akame ga Kill, but there is nothing too wrong with it, there is no CGI aside from a few small scenes, there aren't really any lightning or other advanced FX and it's just plainly drawn with not much detail, but aside from that there aren't really any glitches or mistakes in the art department, and i guess i can't judge the animation quality since it's only out in shitty bitrate on HDTVrips and not actual BDRemux/BDrip releases yet so even 1080p still looks like shit. Ok, the soundtrack itself is good, OP&ED are awesome just like in the first season, although the actual episode BGM is quite bland, nothing interesting there. Now the enjoyement rate is really high and the action scenes are well drawn from what i could tell and are fast-paced which makes it all dynamic and intense which is something i haven't seen in anime for a while. Now the story and the lore, especially the lore i think was the focus of the show, and i can't particularly state it succeded.
What i really liked about Chaika was that world-building, where it was a simple shounen anime technically, but it still had some unique aspects such as the creatures themselves and what they do, the history of their world, the mystery of emperor Gaz and what and why the Chaikas are in this world. I like how now in the second season the show then switches to de-building that world by questioning chaika's past and everything else, introducing one silly and expectable plot twist after another while simply working on what was already there in the first season. However, then in episode 9 there is a massive twist and all the mysteries are solved and all the pieces of puzzle are pulled together, the lore is now pretty much complete and we get a full picture and answers to why and how. Then in episode 10 there's a little bit that seems simillar to how in Fullmetal Alchemist the main villian tried to use souls to power the superhumans, only that here it's smarter and the main villian uses emotions and starvation for war, ironically the main protag and every good guy in this show fights and has emotions and memories, which power the magic in this show, so it becomes an interesting dillema, but the show ends before any of that is given any focus.
Overall, i liked the plot, the universe and will definitely miss this show and it's characters which may not have that much depth, but they sure are likable. The ending is very straightforward, and i'm not so sure really whether i like it, on one hand it's definitely good it didn't end in a mindfuck or some open-ended shit like Ergo Proxy because as much as those endings have the artistic value, they always leave a bad taste in my mouth, so maybe because of the good ending i liked the show, felt it had a closure.

Akame ga Kill! - 8/10
When people see AGK they see an average shounen, with nothing that stands out except gore and drama which the show is famous/infamous for. That is not exactly true. The Characters are all really nice, they have just enough depth to not be stupid but not too much for them to get proper good and believeble, but that only benefits the show as it's main concentration is on action and the story, aswell as providing some rather average character back stories and their views on death/killing/war and peace and so on.
What i really really liked about this show was the fact

that drama did not feel forced, and when mature themes were explored, they weren't dumbed down. When someone dies, he dies. Not like in SAO's first arc, not like in every arc of Naruto, when people in AGK die, they die for real, and that's what makes this show so awesome.
In terms of art it's pretty simple, reminds me of toaru, some moments are blatantly censored, like gore and split limbs, while others are not, like blood.
You see, AGK has very clever written dialogue, without turning into a mess full of super-convincing dialogue which makes everyone give up their cause. The characters say just enough things, they don't convince each other to stop killing and live in peace, no, they express their viewpoint, and they fight, till one of them dies.
All the funny moments kinda serve little purpose aside from getting you to know the characters so the drama feels more intense and you kind of feel the loss.
The characters despite being kinda cliche, do say smart things, their will to fight is clearly justified through their life and backstory, which is very good for the show because it means that it lacks a truly good side and bad side (right up until the end, even then the bad side shows some kind of goodness)
Tatsumi is an average MC. He is not too beliveble, i think any real person would submit to Esdeath at the first glance on those tits....
So yeah, Tatsumi is actually probably one of the biggest plot devices throughout, aside from avenging his friends, there is barely any motive for him to do what he does.
What i do hate about this anime is that it's too generic, average, nothing particularly makes it stand out, and it lacks truly memorable moments.
The soundtrack is top-notch, truly nice tunes in some episodes make sure to underline the show's mood.
Verdict: an above average shounen, with good characters, good soundtracks, but it would probably benefit from being double the length of what it is and get slim plot twists in there too.

Mahou Shoujo★Madoka Magica - 7/10
Brilliant show, nice use of concept, good character development, beautiful artstyle with lots of detail (Just kidding, SHAFT you're a pile of fucking shit and i hope you die of cancer) and design. Follows a very interesting and intriguing plot featuring all sorts of dark shit like girls exchanging their souls for that one wish and it all being for the sake of another race which needs to use magical girls's emotions for power to survive and how Homura has relived the same shit over and over again.

not so good first half of the show with almost no additions/changes. Simply reformatted from episodic to movie format to be get aired in cinemas.
Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica Movie 2: Eien no Monogatari - 7/10
Again, same kind of recap, almost nothing new is added, it's hard to even call this a summary, it feels like all the episodes just been copy-pasted and made into a movie. Dissapointment, but atleast it's the 2nd half of the show which is good.
Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica Movie 3: Hangyaku no Monogatari - 9/10.
You know that feeling when you watch something, you don't completely get what it's about but you're still loving it? Like that feeling you could get from watching "Evangelion: Quckening"? Yeah it's that fucking feeling. The plot of Madoka Magica Movie 3: (also known as "~Rebellion~") gets complicated, characters get very deep and their thoughts all feel very real, which is even further outlined by the beatiful art direction this movie has. It's just great.

Fate/Zero - 6/10
Fate/Zero 2nd Season - 7/10
One major let down of Fate/Zero is it's characters. Plain and boring, sometimes they do things for absolutely no reason behind it whatsoever. Only interesting characters are Archer, Kiritsugu Emiya (So Edgy that Matoi Ryuko seems like a fairly balanced person) and Kirei Kotomine (Especially Kirei literally the only reason to watch the show). The rest are just stupid and look like they've been copy-pasted from some saturday morning cartoon. Shitty pacing issues, an actual filler episode (the show is only 13+12 episodes long, get ur shit together). Action scenes look patheticly low-budget and are normally only 20 secs

long before some fragment with characters talking for hours and hours (witht he exception of bike chase with Saber and Rider, that was epic). The Story is ok, even though it's presentation is shit. In the Pilot episode we are shown how Mato is the guy, the main char and then he is just erased from existence for next 10 episodes. The show then concentrates on telling us how Saber is the strongest class and shit, and yet for the next 20 episodes it's showing us the exact opposite of that. Music in the episodes is ultra shit, didn't even notice there was a soundtrack.
What i liked was the interesting and even somewhat original setting, which was also reduced to nothing in the following episodes. Best moments of this Series is "Wow did he just kill a character off" moments, even though they get you sometimes, mostly you will just brush it off because THE CHARACTERS DO EVERYTHING THEY CAN TO MAKE YOU NOT GIVE THE SLIGHTIEST SHIT ABOUT THEM, though sometimes they fail and you may feel feels at tear inducing moments like in episode 20. Although for another positive comment the show somehow does keep you entertained in a way that "what are these fags gonna do next" but if you're that easily entertained you may aswell watch cheap american comedy series on budget tv channels.
You know what? I just really liked the opening cinematics, i think i literally enjoyed LiSA's singing in the opening more than the actual series. Guess what? They got rid of that.
The characters actions just make you think you're in a trash comedy movie. The Tension only appears in the 2nd half of the series. On the good side there is an original setting and concept aswell as tear-inducing ending which i respect, but the rest is just Naruto-tier, SAO-tier utter trash.

Nekomonogotari (Kuro) - 6/10
Considering this is a special, It's done incredibly good.
There's blood, gore, cute girls, weird mythology things, lewd comedy and more. Just what you'd expect from Monogatari.
If put in contrast with Bakemonogatari this uses the art direction, the "slides" with text and the animation thing a lot less spountaneosly which also leads on to the whole mood and tone of the episodes looking a lot more structured. There is also a heavier lean towards the "lewd comedy" part of the show rather than the mythological aspects. The character relations are brought to a whole new level with Araragi finding out what are

his actual feelings towards Hanekawa, we also get a bit more of Vampire-chan.
Basically, if you liked the last arc of Bakemonogotari and you want to know more about what happened prior to to Bakemonogoatari then this will be a good watch. What i really dislike about it is the inclusion of the worst girl and how much screentime she got.
Not recommended for people not familliar with Monogatari Series.

Welcome to the NHK - 10/10
You know, this is probably the closest anime will ever get to literature.
It's a slice of life story about a hikkikomori shut in, also adaption of the novel NHK ni Youkoso!. The only difference between the anime and the novel is that Anime is leaning towards a much more positive experience than the depressing novel. Major differences include the use of drugs in the novel where there were none in anime (except Hitomi), lolicon illegal pornography on Yamazaki's computer and that Yamazaki in the anime did not try to cause a terrorist attack like he did in the Novel.

Anime is less grim than the novel
Overall it's not what people tend to think it is. It's not a story about a hikkimori shut in. It's about a bunch of people's lives and their own personal struggles, against themselves and maybe the whole world too. Hitomi has many disorders that no hospital classes as diseases and they just brush her off and give her normal pills and she also leads an imaginary life with Sato as a violent husband in it. Sato is a hikkikomori with an idea that everyone looks down upon him and behind the scenes thinks of him as a low level scum, which leads to him not loving himself thus not trusting others and escaping from the fear of getting rejected by rejecting everything from the start and this becoming a hikkikomori. Yamazaki is an Otaku who takes it all to the extreme, but still tries to remain a normal person and tries to make contact to girls who only reject him because he is a "creepy otaku" which then forces him to become even more of an otaku and try to delude himself further in escapism, failing and then repeating the circle, he is so used to being rejected he ironically showed it to his love interest and just offended her heavily because he automatically thought she'd hate him because he's an otaku - which makes the whole situation incredibly complicated. Misaki, who had daddy issues which initially led her believing she is somehow lower than everyone else, which then forces her to try and be helpfull to her grandma and people in general, she thinks that nobody actually needs her, and only needs her services which is why she made the whole project of helping Sato stop being a Hikkikomori, she also ended up needing him because he was "below" her, so basically worse at life than her and she needed to help him to make herself feel better that she can, and does help someone, and that there are people weaker than her.
Inchel and her brother both in deep financial trouble due to marketting pulling them into a financial pyramid with no getting out, while Inchel's brother is playing online games to earn some little cash, Inchel is trying to lure people into the pyramid (even though she thinks it's wrong) to try and get promoted, she simply hasn't got a choice but to act like an asshole.
TL;DR : It's about a bunch of people in hard real life situations.
Now here's my story with this show.
I started it about three months ago and dropped at the 2nd episode, because at the time i was starting to get bored like shit by all of those slice of life animes and move on to something a little more fast-paced and complex which at the time to me was Sword Art Online.
However, now having watched loads of titles, classics and new ones among which are some of the shows that took a very special place in my heart like Neon Genesis Evangelion, Ergo Proxy, Cowboy Bebop, Serial Experiments Lain, FLCL, Kill La Kill and many more i have decided to come back to Welcome to the NHK.
And damn i was well surprised by the turn the story made. Instead of a plain hikkikomori otaku stereotype made exclusively for self-inserting we have very deep character development and dare i say, a psychological look into the mind of the character and his relations with his peers aswell as the rest of the world.
Sure it doesn't go to the scale of Evangelion's infamous episode 25 where it breaks the character into pieces using thorough psychoanalysis as to why they pilot a big shiny robot, but the thing is, less is more. If the writer does a good job, which they did in NHK, then the whole thing does not have to be on such a huge scale which is exactly what Slice Of Life genre is for (more specifically the drama/romance subgenre). Another thing is that the OST for this anime is high-quality and well composed (the show even has it's own motif which is played in various fragments on various instruments and at different speeds), aswell as visuals which are good and are used nicely to show what the story is all about and more important, what is going on inside Sato's head using light-hearted comedy of sorts. The thing i really liked is that the characters aren't stereotypes, unless they are there for irony (for example Yamazaki being an otaku and making a hentai game). It is not a secret that show deals with mature, but not very grim and edgy themes but still generally carries a very depressive tone (Misaki's suicide attempt, The Offline meeting episode) while still managing to insert comedy into places where appropriate, all building up into something unique and just feel very real. Very damn real. Nothing is taken to an extreme, but done just right. Especially those bits of struggle how Sato was scared to be rejected, so he tried to hide away from everyone and all those feeling that hurt him, making matters worse, he saw his friend getting rejected and saw that it wasn't too nice of a feeling to experience.
All of course excluding the bit where he just meets a random girl on the street willing to save him, but at least the romance is very entertaining, funny and romantic.
The ending was a bit meh, but then it seemed just right, as Misaki and Sato didn't just magically become all happy, but they found each other in their weird and unique relationship "hostages by exchange" huh? Nice.
After seeing the anime, i felt like i just read a really good book and listened to an amazing music album. It's not what you normally get after watching an anime, but it was a feeling entirely unique, like i completely bonded with the characters.
Welcome To The NHK is definitely one of the best animes i've ever seen and i will never forget it's themes and other things it does.
TL;DR - Go fucking watch it's as good as drama gets.
