I actually don't remember but yeah might have been. But either way it's a completely different take on it so I didn't really mind there. Kuroko is more similar to the likes of Gurren Lagann or the Girls und Panzer movie in terms of over-the-top craziness than your typical sports anime to me
I tend to enjoy the sports anime which are primarily about something other than the sport itself, like when those themes are more of a secondary genre. Ping Pong, One Outs and Yuri on Ice are some examples of that yes, but also more game-like series like Chihayafuru or Saki are series I enjoy. I did admittedly like Kuroko no Basket but that was more because it was so fucking over-the-top and silly that it's just fun to watch anyway. But what I don't want is shows more like Haikyuu which admittedly is very well directed, but it's still painfully restricted by the basic limitations of the genre in the first place. As far as Ippo goes, I haven't seen it but the fact that I detest boxing as a sport in the first place doesn't really increase my motivation to try it either :s
Yeah exactly, they tend to have this awkward rapey vibe to them which I guess fujoshi think is super hot and all, but I've just found it rather cringey. I'd rather just go read some nice doujins about traps getting violated in that case -.^
There are more than one of those but yeah that's the best one I've tried. I think all the girls in Eustia are pretty likable though but yeah Licia is def on top in my eyes. Pretty rare to have a petite deredere girl who is still quite mentally strong and more than capable of standing up for herself
I tend to avoid super long series like battle shounens for example because I don't have the time to slog through all of that (and they tend to be susceptible to fillers, recaps and snail pacing anyway). I'm also not a big fan of sports anime because I don't think they have the same charm that real sports do when all the matches are scripted and thus the whole feeling of "anything can happen" is never really present. And I generally avoid shounen ai/yaoi, not because I have anything against gayness (hell I'm bisexual myself) but because the way shows like that tend to showcase those themes doesn't really click with me well
I know some Japanese, but I mostly read Eustia with ITH/TA as helping tool. But yes I've read all of it and Licia is best girl
It's something I think any manga fan should read eventually at least, so yeah go for it~
I can watch/read just about anything except for a few things really. I don't like judging series by their genre, doing it individually by their execution makes more sense to me. But if I just had to pick one then I guess statistically speaking psychological things tend to probably be my favourite
I have no idea when Eustia might be fully translated tbh; you might learn Japanese yourself faster than it'll take to wait for that to happen :c
As for 20th Century Boys (and Pluto) they are a bit different from Monster stylistically and in my experience it seems to be pretty split which of the two people prefer, but personally at least I think both of them are better than Monster, especially 20th Century Boys. The storywriting is just out of this world incredible if you ask me
Anime isn’t just another form of entertainment for most of us. It often produces a deeply personal connection within us, whether or not we’ve been through an experience anything like our protagonists’. And some works will move us to become a better person. To me, the movies and anime that I value most make a connection in me emotionally, and if a piece does that, it’s likely to change me in some way.
The sole reason I haven't watched Gankutsuou is that I've read The Count of Monte Cristo by Dumas and I really enjoyed it and for me, I've got 19th century France ingrained in my head and the book is incredibly detailed being an extraordinarily wrong book so I feel like I'm going to be disappointed.
I find that there is a sizeable fanbase for Shinsekai yori but often I find the vast majority are just impressed by the end when in reality there is a level of depth in this show that is unmatched in the entire medium, from my experience with anime and most people don't recognise it because of how subtle and delicate the universe in SSY as a construct is.
I've been planning to watch/read the Berserk series for a while now, but I haven't had time :(
Thanks for the recommendations though, judging by the artstyle and synopsis of both Hommunculus and Annarasumnara they look pretty damn interesting. I'm gonna read them tonight o(≧∇≦o)
