Sweetness & Lightning is an example of a very well made story about the difficulties, struggles, and even happiness through learning experiences in a single parent household. The relationship between a single father and his young daughter brought many emotions, albeit for good reasons.
Story 9/10: Firstly I would like to state that this anime can seem very episodic. There isn't a vast amount of detail invested into a big plot or anything of the sort. Even though this may seem like a negative aspect, Sweetness & Lightning's story had me intrigued. The father, Kouhei Inuzuka, is a high school teacher and single father to his

daughter, Tsumugi. Together they find an interest in cooking different foods, some of which Tsumugi's mother had made before she passed away. An important part to my rating for the story is due to the age Tsumugi is, which is 5 or 6 years old. Around that age is very important in life due to new experiences such as school, beginning the process of growing up, and learning many new things. This anime showed what I would consider a very realistic depiction of how a 5 or 6 year old would act given the circumstances.
Art 8/10: I'm not a huge critic on art unless I'm being promised a phenomenal amount of detail and crazy effects, so my rating will be a standard 8 here. I would like to point out that although the art style is standard for todays production quality, specific detail was put into some of the foods created.
Sound 7/10: This is a very laid-back and relaxing anime, so there wasn't an immense amount of effort put into the soundtrack. The opening and ending songs were pretty good, and fit the emotion of the story for the most part. Pretty much your standard OP/ED. Background music was also pretty standard.
Character 9/10: I found the connection and relationship between Kouhei and Tsumugi very strong and particularly unique. Their bonding through cooking food seems mundane at first but both have fitting personalities for each other, and it was surprising to see the development between the two. Side characters all had their influences to the story overall and didn't feel like unnecessary "extras", except for two. Their brief involvement was forgettable up until this moment so I consider them irrelevant.
Enjoyment 9/10: Laid-back yet still entertaining? Check. Characters with good personal qualities and behaviors? Check. Honestly in a broader sense, there isn't anything spectacular about this anime, it's a pretty basic show. If that's something you're looking for, then consider my points above, and maybe you will find it enjoyable as well!
Overall 9/10: I feel like this show really only appeals to a niché of a niché, those who want a laid-back anime that requires almost no attention. But if you do pay attention, you'll find a truly appealing anime inside a seemingly mundane plotline.

Oh man what a journey this anime was! I'm sort of mad that I had it on my PTW list for so long, and I'll tell you why. Beck is one of those special anime that reels you in with its relatable characters, and intriguing storyline. I'm really glad that I can put this on my list as my 100th completed anime. Nevertheless, the review:

there's more than just that to it, there's each characters personal background and stories that seem to fit perfectly into everyone else's for one big combined unanimity. I found this flawless.
Art 9/10: This anime is, I believe, over a decade old, so you kind of know what to expect. I still find it mildly irritating sometimes when the main characters look like blobs for a few frames. Not too big of a deal. What I did love about this animation was watching the band members play and seeing guitar solos being performed and close-ups of the drummer.
Sound 10/10: Immediately I noticed that as an anime focused on music, sound would make a vast influence on the overall rating, and it did so in a beautiful manor here. I watched this dubbed after reading in forums that the dub was more emotion filled, and it definitely was! The songs are beautiful, and every band member played a vital role in making it sound perfect.
Character 10/10: As stated before, all of the characters stories and backgrounds seemed to fit perfectly together, which was perfect. Every character shows its own unique personality and attitude, and from the multiple characters none of them felt "additional", everyone fit in.
Enjoyment 10/10: I finished this in 4 nights, which is rare for me. I usually watch 3-4 episodes a night, but I couldn't stop watching this. Every episode brought upon a unique response to me mentally. Multiple events had me thinking two ways, and would keep me guessing until the last minute.
Overall 10/10: I've seen Nana before, and when I was finished both of these anime it gave me a similar feeling, I want more. Not very many anime can do that to me, but this did. Anime like this are really an "11/10", because they're just that good.

I watched this a few weeks ago but decided I would give my opinion on this...crap.
Story: 3/10, Alright, so the anime focuses around these girls that go to a special school because they're...guns? Yes, guns. These girls are literally guns in human form; weird. There's literally no progression except the minute bonding of the girls and their teacher, which in and of itself is completely pointless.
Art: 6/10, I've seen other reviews where people complained that the art was "bland", and I have to agree. There's nothing spectacular about the art here, unless you're into gunfire, which is alright I guess, nothing to wet your pants

over though.
Sound: 7/10, *brapapapapapapapaaaaa!* gun noises and girls making semi-erotic sounds, cool.
Character: 3/10, oh my god these characters are stupid! Literally, there is practically nothing that is appealing about any of the characters or their personalities. No progression, barely any emotion, and just plain dumb.
Enjoyment: 5/10, I'm going to tie this one in with my overall rating, which is also a 5/10. The minuscule amount of enjoyment I found was through the semi action-filled scenes where the girls fought against this weird group of people. (Trying to retain spoiling, although after watching I really wouldn't have mind being spoiled) Also some of the facts that I learned about the guns that the girls were, like where the gun originated and its specs.
So basically if you want to waste time and watch a really crappy action/ecchi anime, then be my guest and watch this steamy pile of crap.

Pokemon, you hear the word and a barrage of memories flow in your mind. If you grew up with Pokemon like I have, then chances are you are in the process of watching this series like I am. I was skeptical at first, mostly due to the fact that I saw these new Pokemon as "unoriginal" and "bland". Well let me tell you, I was wrong.
Story 8/10- So far, 52 episodes in, I find the story like your average Pokemon adventure. Ash travels to a new region, meets people along the way, catches Pokemon, earns badges, and of course, battles Team Rocket over and over
...
again. This isn't necessarily a bad thing though, considering the repetition of these events has been pretty much the same since the first series aired well over a decade ago.
Art 9/10- I'm not a picky person when it comes to actual animation or art in anime, but this series is quite beautiful. The effects go as far as seeing the sun hit the characters faces when in the woods, which is a really neat shading effect. Not too much to explain here other than the characters, setting, and Pokemon are wonderfully animated.
Sound 9/10- Another aspect I'm not too picky of, but the battle music during Pokemon battles always brings back a nostalgic feeling, even in new series such as this. I'm sure at least a few of you have noticed, but the characters voices seem almost bland if not exaggerated at times. That is my only concern. Then again this is "technically" a children's show.
Character 7/10- The characters all have their own back story and growth, but I can't seem to get past how much they drag on over one event. Sure there's a new event every episode or two, but it goes to borderline annoying at some points when seeing how some events play out. No biggie though, this is definitely a pretty good series so far.
Enjoyment 10/10- Despite a few flaws, it's near impossible to turn my back on a childhood series such as this. It's a pure classic, and even though I'll be 20 next month, I still find myself watching at least one episode of this series every night or so.
Overall 8/10- If you're a Pokemon fan and haven't started this yet, I highly recommend you do so. Don't be like me and judge an anime by its looks, because chances are you may miss out on a nostalgic trip with Ash and Pikachu.
