You can instantly tell in the first couple of chapters that black clover is your typical Shonen manga as it does carry a lot of Shonen tropes. Rivalry, the genius talented deuteragonist, a high-ranking title that the main character strives for etc. However, as you read along, the manga takes these basic tropes and is able to incorporate them well enough so it can be an overall enjoyable manga. And I shall explain my takes on how it does.
Story 7/10:
Since our main character doesn't have any magic in a world where magic is everything, it does create a sense of us the readers wanting the

root for him to prove the snobby characters (royals) wrong. To be quite frank, he's a static character and doesn't really change much from the first chapter but he does influence the people around him to do better which I guess is nice to see.
Art: 8.5/10:
Probably one of the strongest suits this manga has is its art. It's very consistent the paneling is beautiful. These factors make it quite enjoyable to read.
Characters- 7.8/10:
Another thing black clover does really well is its side characters. I've seen in plenty of other series in which the side characters pretty much get abandoned and have little to no growth. However, this doesn't really exist in black clover as all of the black bulls are influenced by each other and develop further as characters. And as cliche as it may sound- surpassing their limits to beat the enemy at hand.
Enjoyment: 9/10
The manga is overall very enjoyable to read. At times when all the black bulls are together you can really tell as a reader, they're having fun which makes it entertaining to read. It's like if I were forced to go into the black clover universe, I would sure love to be a black bull.
Overall, 8/10: Black Clover may be a pretty basic Shonen manga as it doesn't really have much unique different things going for it but I think this manga exemplifies that basic can turn out to be a pretty enjoyable series to read. But if you didn't really enjoy series like fairy- tail, this probably won't be your cup of tea.
