I agree with you in the Mirai Nikki one. I was a huge fan of it because it was the anime who made me an anime fan back when I was a kid so it has a special place in my heart. Then I rewatched it at 16 some years ago and it was shit. I mean it still has a place in my heart but the characters are so obnoxious and the plot has so many holes. Not to forget that they are 14 and act like 30 year old bounty hunters. I thought it might be just because I'm generally into more realistic anime and that's why I disliked it after those years.
It's often those shows that sit years on the watch list that end up being gems.
Tenkuu Shinpan has also some edgy elements but it was more enjoyable than Mirai Nikki for sure

That's why I dislike most of the harem romcoms. Only the one's where the guy actually chooses one are acceptable.
I agree with you. The romance is more interesting if it is rather subtle and not forced.
I absolutely love kuzu no honkai. My heart beats for realistic mature romances. Even if not everyone ends up being happy because that's actually life.
My recommendations would be Mirai Nikki (unhealthy romance), Tenkuu Shinpan (one-sided shoujo-ai) and Kokoro Connect. Tsurezure Children is also really good.

Which kind of romance anime/manga do you like? I'm actually also a fan of romance but only the mature one's where the romance is realistic and not "ten girls without a personality love a guy who looks like a discount version of korito and doesn't choose one".
